Roger Federer in his prime was not only a sensational shotmaker inside the baseline and at the net, but the Swiss Maestro also provided some incredible shots while defending. Some points from Federer are so impressive that commentator Robbie Koenig even suggested that Federer got out of jail because it felt so certain that the opponent would win the point! In this video I put together top 10 moments when Roger Federer won the point with a miraculous shot... he simply got out of jail!

He truly is amazing! Best player to ever play! It's not about the number of titles, it's the calssy way he played! I will add though, Federer almost always knows where to go when in a dire situation. He knows how to anticipate the opponent's shots! Truly amazing and i miss watching him play!

And he'd fo it with unmatched aggression. Everyone else just bashes balls back without any variety.

When tennis was glorious. I remember watching every Fed match I could and just waiting for the magic show. Alas, it is no more. We get a lot of grinding and some good shots but no magic. The magician is gone and won't return. He is the one and only GOAT and I was blessed to witness him play. Unfortunately young kids can only watch youtube highlights. BTW that last Agassi shot was simply unbelievable. I think Agassi just watched in disbelief.

@Raz Ols have been following you for 8+ years, after Roger left, really lost interest in keeping up with Tennis regularly, I'm a die hard Roger fan but totally agree & accept that Novak is the statistical GOAT and the most successful player of all time, no one comes close - meticulous discipline on fitness to maximize body capabilities, ridiculous mental fortitude & has become very smart (game strategy based on opponent's play style). Rafa is also exceptional and keeps fighting till the very end but hasn't been that smart like the other two - hence the injuries (just an opinion) even if he is 0-6, 0-6, 0-5 match point down - never gives up. The reason I say this is roger also works hard but always had that natural ability which made him & his play look like a walk in the park, only regular tennis players know how difficult his shots are to replicate. Novak is just ridiculous hard work over the years on all aspects of his game, net play, best returner of all time, passes, lobs etc., I feel that there can't be an absolute GOAT in any sport as it is very subjective and sports change over eras as they transcend with play styles, rules, tech, physiology & fitness now coming into the lime light, no player can ever be greater than the sport itself, comparisons will always be made and fans/people get very emotional about these things. Tennis is no exception, all sports have this. In most sports, legends & successful players say that discipline & mental toughness matter a lot and not just the skillset - football is a prime example (Ronaldinho, Eric Cantona, Neymar recently, very skilled yet not fulfilling their true potential). Roger lost that mental strength and confidence with it I think as he aged with Rafa dominating him on clay (admitted something similar in interviews) and he started losing close matches with Novak in GS finals & Masters, I agree the numbers hugely favor Novak in GS & major tournaments but they don't tell the whole story, if you watch the complete set of matches, they are very close and I won't use the age as a stupid excuse, it's just the way it is. Novak is playing with 10+ yrs younger guys today and winning easily, they not being able to challenge him is not his fault. His genuine competition who could push him to his limits were and always have been roger and rafa and vice versa, murray for about 2-3 years maybe @Novak fans please don't hate roger just because of some fanatics cooking us stupid stuff & insulting these amazing once in a life time players & vice versa to Roger fans. And I mean genuine tennis fans who appreciate this great sport will understand I hope. Only Sinner (awesome ball striking but lacks variety - recently added net play) & Alcaraz (doesn't have to keep proving to others about his potential, just needs to focus on himself and improve as much as he can, feel his game has become a little predictable and stagnant recently in 2023 which Novak & others are learning & exploiting) these guys excite me a little. Thanks for the great stuff @Raz as always, you're a delight. Wish you well.

The smash on his opponent's smash at around 5:40 is a better shot (or trick...) than the much more highkights-present versus Roddick.

Obviously opinions will vary on this, but there's a really at the AO with Hewitt that belongs on the list - and the shot at the US Open vs Del Po where Roger was off the court and had to run all the way back across court and hit a crazy passing shot...

Yes. One of those could have replaced the one vs Nadal, which made it to these highlights only out of a will to feature a point vs Nadal (it wasn't a jail point, in itself).

To be fair the age difference between Fed and Agassi was significant. Agassi was one of the very best players after turning 30, especially back then. He just happened to face peak Fed
