Clive Anderson could be a clumsy interviewer at times but Roger deflects the attempted barbs here with the most charming good grace and humour. He really was the perfect gent, a natural wit and the most wonderful company imaginable in these shows.
Clive Anderson could more than often be an absolute embarrassing imbecile. Roger Moore’s class deflected the cheap crap & served to reaffirm what a gentleman he was 🇬🇧.
Absolutely... I didnt particularly like him back in the day; as a Scot I thought Sean was irreplaceable. But I have changed my opinion, Roger was a thoroughly nice person.
I couldn't agree more. An exceptional person, modest and humble, and a much better actor than many give him credit for (if you have any doubts, watch The Man Who Haunted Himself). With perhaps the exception of his ex wives, he appears to have been liked by just about everyone he met, and he was clearly a brilliant father and deeply loved by his children, including his stepson from his first marriage with whom he kept in contact right up until his death. And then there was his humanitarian work. A great man in so many ways.
Clive Anderson wasn’t always the best at interviews sometimes he had his own agenda Roger was very classy and intelligent and could easily handle him . Top guy 😻
What's so funny in the interview is how Roger gracefully works with the interviewer guy's little 'digs' slights, I love his reaction faces that everyone critiques but it's GOOD ACTING using his expressions & retorts like anyone else. He can't help that he's inherently handsome beautiful since his youth so gets dismissed like an airhead blonde woman. Roger literally is like a comedian with a schtick response in his interviews, i luv him.
My late father absolutely loved Roger Moore. Moore was 5 years younger than my dad. Dad never suffered fools as he was a rough WW2 veteran but gee he loved Roger and got me to watch Octopussy.
@@ROROSMACHINE That's right. Connery was born on 25/8/30, whereas Moore was born on 14/10/27. Now both have sadly gone to that great cutting room in the sky.
Anderson was the most uncomfortable chat show host ever, and I shall curtail my language that I normally use to describe him, Roger Moore an absolute class act.
I only watched because I was curious how a gent like Roger Moore would handle a prick like Clive Anderson. It's interesting to see people sit there and get 50% flattered and 50% insulted.
Have two say that I quite miss Clive on the telly. I often found him quite witty and I think most of the guests on his show enjoyed being guests. It wasn't the normal run-of-the-mill chat show that bored the viewers to tears. Roger also was in fine form on this show.
My bond. And an underated actor - just watch The Man Who Haunted Himself: his best film. I have watched them all, really all... Very down to earth combined with style. Met him twice, great man and sorely missed. RIP
met Roger and his then wife luisa back in 85 it was raining and they invited me to sit in their car as it was raining he was there for the london premier of a view to a kill, he was signing a photo for me and didnt want the photo or me to get wet, i was only a kid of 17, what a gentleman he was. we chatted then he said really sorry but must get to the odean in leicester square i thanked them both and left again to go home.
Top-drawer gentleman. What humour too. Forever a legend! I will always remember him best as Lord Brett Sinclair in his Aston Martin DBS with Tony Curtis.
@@annpartoon5300 I have all the episodes of 'The Saint' and 'The Persuaders', all seven of his James Bond films and many of his other films on DVD. They are all brilliant escapism and hugely entertaining.
My dearest gentleman of all times...Sir. Roger Moore...the absolute..the best ever..we were lucky to have seen you..RIP dear Sir...and if we are lucky enough shall meet you in heaven .
I love Roger Moore he was more humble than Sean Connery, I love Sean Connery 007 fighting style ,but love Roger Moore humor and charm he brings to 007 he look younger but older than Sean Connery
@@oreally8605 No doubt He was great. But Roger was really unique in his appearance his style his attitude , real Gentleman simply unrepeatable. If you ask me who can be in second place, I would say Brosnan
What a charming interview, reminds me of why Roger was my favorite Bond, I enjoyed the charm & humor he added to the character. And I appreciate the fact that he never got to the point where he didn't want to be associated with the Bond films anymore, he did audio commentary tracks for each of his Bond films, for instance. RIP, Mr. Moore, you are remembered with affection.
Awww loved Sir. Rog one of my fave Bonds, and adored him in The Saint...He can take a joke and doesn't take himself too seriously...No matter how much he puts himself down, he was a good actor and a very handsome man with a strong presence in whatever he did. RIP Roger you're missed x
Yes on the screen he was an amazing fine actor, that you actually believed could save the world. In person you actually felt he was an everyday person who just happened to be a highly successful man with very famous friends, who had not lost his ability to talk to the everyday person.
@@andrewbevan4662 Roger Moore actually added many of his own ad-libs in his films, which were often so hilarious, the producers decided to keep them in. He did that in 'The Saint' TV series, too.
What a fantastic person Roger Moore was. A massive star with a small ego. And very funny. Loved it when he said those famous words, Bond, James Bond. Brilliant!
It was his style, sarcastic and vitriolic wit. Not all his guests would get it, e.g when the Bee Gees walked off his set, for mocking their musical style. Anderson never recovered, and is rarely seen on TV, since.
Roger Moore was a class act here. Funny, witty and charming while Clive Anderson was in every way the antithesis of him. Wish this happened with a better interviewer.
Saw Rodger Moore, giving a talk on his career & life experiences. Wonderful interesting insight, into his life.I asked Rodger a Question.... Who was his favorite Artist/Painter Rip ❤Sir Rodger George Moore 🙏 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🍾❤🍾
@@colinyates5540 👌🙏🏼 The most beautiful, handsome BOND with a dignified personality. After his farewell I stopped seeing Bond movies. India's most favourite Bond 🌺🌺🌺🌺👍🥀🥀💕💕💞🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
you know what keanu reeves is very similar to roger more in that both are super nice guys and hate being praised up not taking themselves too seriously. Roger you were the best rest in peace dear fellow.
Loved Roger Moore Bond movies. He was suave with boyish charm and deep voice and that boyish smirk as if he's been naughty peeking in women's changing room type but with a look that would melt women's hearts. For me, Pierce Brosnan was an amazing Bond with Goldeneye the best Bond movie of them all. Sean Connery was amazing as was Roger Moore. Daniel Craig, Timothy Dalton and George Lazenby are all good but nothing stellar. I hope the next Bond will be Henry Cavill. That dude is perfect as Bond imo
Roger Moore showed his class as always. As this he will be remembered. As always, Anderson showed his snide, middle class contemptuousness. As this he will be remembered.
Roger Moore, a real gent, charming, witty and self-deprecating. I actually quite like Clive Anderson, though he tries to ruffle Rog a bit too much here, but the latter keeps his poise.
Clive Anderson is a very annoying and terrible host to me when he tried to interview Roger Moore. Clive Anderson is neither humorous nor intelligent as a host though he tried very hard to look like one in this interview. Pathetic guy who impressed no one!
@@pjeng1 It caught up with Clive in the end when he tried the same tactics with The Bee Gees...and we know what happened there. Not long after their walkout, he quietly stopped hosting chat shows as the Beeb probably didn't want to risk another embarrassing incident like that again.
@@pjeng1 You summed up my thoughts perfectly. Roger was very engaging & friendly but Anderson was a creep who didn't appreciate or respect a truly great star and human being. Anderson was soon forgotten...Roger will be fondly remembered. RIP Roger & thanks for all the fun & especially for..."keeping the British end up"
This is the reason why I love RU-vid able to see something excellent that I think I probably stupidly missed at the time - excellent interview >Thanks.
Who Doesn't Love Roger Moore(007)? Moonraker, The Spy Who Loved Me, For Your Eyes Only, Live, & Let Die, Without A Doubt, Are 4 Of My Favorites From RM(RIP).
Sean Connery will always be James Bond in my book. But I very much enjoyed Roger Moore's tenure as Bond, and with his self-deprecating humor and overall candid interviewing style, has won me over as one of the finest human beings on the planet as well.
