The thing is about Rickenbackers is you can’t buy parts for it. So what you have to do is buy a actual one and strip off the paint and change the hardware in it to match the ones they used
I've always wanted a bass like Roger's. I went through a HUGE Floyd phase when I was in my early teens and still really love how simple yet heavy his bass lines were. Granted a lot were played by David but still lol.
Another top notch job! I'd be interested in seeing you do Flea's custom modulas bass (The Red, White and Blue one) that he use to use all the time, especially for the gig at Slane Castle!
Man this is almost perfect, minus the pickups tho, the closest pickup of his is the Monstertone P from Schecter which are the modern version of his old Schecter P-04 pickups
So been trying to figure out, did you just randomly relic it? Or where did you get your relic plan from? All images I see of this bass, even recent pictures, the bass is in pretty good shape save for occasionally looking dirty/dull. And have found zero images of the rear of his bass.
I never do random aging on a replica, it took me a few months of compiling pictures and researching the bass to find all the info I needed on it. But this is a very accurate scratch for scratch replica of the original. It can be a bit misleading though because a huge portion of the photo's online of Roger playing this bass are actually of a different bass that Fender made for him to be an exact copy.
Thanks, are you able to share the photos you found? Or photos of the finished product here? After my current build wouldn’t mind taking a stab at this.
Please made Matt Freeman Fender Precision Bass. I think that awesome with some little details and more bomb sticker haha! I love the way your videos. Keep it up!
Another great build. Your videos are really inspirational, thanks for taking the time to make them. Can I ask what the kind of scraping process that you do to the paint before wet sanding is? I normally just start wet sanding with 800, but I guess this is some kind of scraping to circumvent the rougher sandpaper grades.
i looooved this one! more basses please! :D what about sting's pbass? :p flea's jazz bass, or a jason newsted's sadowskys (they're basically jbasses) :p
I feel like people would enjoy videos done in parts (ie roger waters replica build part 1, roger waters replica build part 2 etc) where you could go into more detail on what you’re doing and post more frequently instead of uploading one big video all at once at the end of a build. At least I would enjoy that. That is if it’s possible for you to do so since I’m sure you’re busy enough with the guitars themselves, either way, great work.
Honestly your replica jobs are better then most people who work in the custom shops, would love to buy a guitar off you, sadly US currency and shipping makes things just too pricey. One day maybe
Another gem! Tell me, what’s the grit for wet sanding over the decal? What’s your process and what’s with the yellow water? I have to sand the clear coat but the decals will make it a pain. Cheers
