Just bought a roland jdxi this week and getting to grips with it !! The manuals just don't cut !! It''s so much easier to learn visually. Thank you as your tutorials are so informative to watch and learn about the JD-xI. The 1.50 update was especially helpful.
it can be difficult at first but the machine has a lot of power..watch some of my other tutorials on it they will help. Enjoy it its a lot of synth for little money.
How would you cut out the 2nd effect and use the first effect and reverb and delay? Can you by pass the 2nd effect or can you turn it down so there is no effect, like you were doing with the reverb and delay? I just wanted to thank you to. I have watched all of your tutorials on this thing, and you have showed me things such as layering and swing that I knew nothing about. That was two years ago and I am making way better music. People have no idea that when you get into that menu, it is the goose that laid the golden egg. I appreciate it, thanks again.
Thx for the tutorial! I'm new to this synth but I love my JD-XI. One question though. When I apply effects to a part (let's say synth), it affects the whole song. How do I separate it So that the effects only affect per part? Thanks!
How many kits? How many sound slots per kit? Can we edit kits? How do the kit sounds map to keys? Is the Bass drum ALWAYS the farthest left key? I dont get it. Nobody explains how percussion is implemented on this device.
even in late 2020 this is great stuff, and probably in another twenty years! I think the JD-Xi is a joke from the Roland engineers, giving us their most powerful synth they make and hiding all the controls behind shiny 80's plastic. I love my JD-Xi and thanks for the tutorial!
Tell me please, I try to assign different FX2 on different parts, like Dig1 gets flanger and Dig 2 gets ring mod. It just doesn’t work, they use one and same FX. But I’ve seen people do this somewhere on RU-vid! Even for drum parts! Do you have a clue??
Yes, you can change an individual drum instrument volume while playing back but has to be done manually. You have to select the instrument key and then adjust the volume with AMP/ENV Level knob.
No, you can only mute the whole Part Select. Pretty stupid mistake by Roland and they made more than a couple. I try to love this thing but it is very hard with the limitations and menu diving...Ashame. I still make descent beats though I gotta say.
If Roland would have put better synth sounds on this with a chorus effect and about 5 or six more knobs on the front instead of the menu, they would have knocked it out of the park. Plus a mod wheel and bigger screen. All these little things they could have done to make this thing a beast of a machine, but they dropped the ball because of these slight little things. Ashame...I still use mine cause it's the only thing I have right now.
The jd-xi arpeggio doesnt trigger using external keyboards ! Roland we need an update thats utterly ridiculous , tiny frail keys so naturally people will want to use a nice midi full size keyboard and the jd-xi as a sound module , yet you left this basic feature out of its design . Come on ! Give us a firmware update that enables arpeggiator via standard midi keyboards please . That should already be included for the price of these and the cheap key board design on the jd-xi - Pathetic , considering selling mine because of these issues .
