A million thanks Wayne. Only criticism is that I wish you could upload more often!

Yeah! I have a lot of videos on my list to upload. I was inspired to do this video as I had watched the 'BEAT' interview at @RickBeato. There is a moment when everyone is like, 'Yep, can't get a GR-300 these days...too bad!' And I was like...what??!??...it has never been easier to get the GR-300 sound. I mean, the emulation is just awesome. I should do a side-by-side with two GR-300s to see how much variation there is between units.

what a legend, still uploading guitar-synth videos, been following original website with low res videos since like 2007, would love to buy some adapters Wayne made for controlling my gr700 with 13pin pickup but nothing can be found anymore online

And even more I've now learnt from you videos/site! Very interesting seeing the GR300 wave like that, did not know it was unique!

That is one of the coolest features of the GR-300, next to the amazing tracking. I will do another video in the future that explains how that waveform is generated.

I love my GR300( has a sticker on the bottom that says you serviced it at some point) but I use my gr55 for playing live just because it's less finicky, the tracking is pretty good. Also I had a question, going to see Adrian Belew with BEAT in October and was wondering if you had any consulting with Belew and Vai about getting the vintage synth sounds ?

Awesome video! Thank you! I’ve never played through a real GR-300 but love the sound! I have the sy1000, gr55 and gp10. I prefer the gr300 emulsion in the gp10 the best. For some reason it just sounds softer to me. I love the sy1000 though and use it all the time.

I have never compared the SY-1000/GR-55/GP-10 side by side. Feature-wise they are identical.
@TechnoRiff

Very nice comparison! Can the GR-300 sound be achieved on the SY-1000, GP-10, and GR-55 without a hex pickup? It looks like the VG-99 doesn't have a GK input, so it appears to not need a hex pickup.
@WayneJoness
@WayneJoness 3 месяца назад
Hey @TechnoRiff have a look at the front panel of the VG-99, there is a 13-pin GK hex pickup front and center! Yes, a GK input is required.
@TechnoRiff
@TechnoRiff 3 месяца назад
@@WayneJoness Oh wow, there it is! Is that an unusual placement for the GK jack as I'm used to the other Roland/Boss units having to jack in from the back.
@WayneJoness
@WayneJoness 3 месяца назад
@@TechnoRiff Well, I think the VG-99 has the best design of any Roland guitar synth ever. I like having the input on the front, along with all the easy access to the controls. But you are correct, the 13 pin input is usually in the back.
@TechnoRiff
@TechnoRiff 3 месяца назад
@@WayneJoness Front mounting the GK input does make sense considering the stress created by rear mounted cables, expensive and more fragile as they are. I can get some of the classic GR-300 type sounds on my SY-200 although with less control over the filtering. Not as rich sounding nor as smooth feeling as the 300, but the SY allows a regular guitar input which is a plus. Thanks!

Great comparison, Wayne! I have the old GR-300 and a GP10 and also the Roland GR-D. I prefer the feel of the old blue box, but maybe that's because of my wonderful 303 guitar vs the Godin for the digital processors...here I play the 300: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-F_Qj78YYhmw.htmlsi=cGUctpHUW6bZ8uEu

I should check the SY-1000 with my Godin. I prefer 13-pin guitars with the magnetic hex pickup.

Oh, by the way, I actually used a G-303 to play both synths at the same time. I love the G-303. I have a splitter/distribution unit called the BT-1324 that I made for Bjorn Thorsrud. I need to do a video on that unit some time.
