Even though this is a bit too flashy for my personal taste, i always love it when somebody purchases the watch they've been really wanting. So to say that i felt your excitement in this video is an understatement. Congratulations my good Sir!!
"is it a bit garish, is it a bit flash or do you think its the absolute bullocks ?!" Those aren't mutually exclusive terms, it's all those things, and its absolutely wonderful. Love that watch!
Nice watch, it really stands out, just be careful as it will easily catch the attention of the wrong people. Agree, no one cares what watch you wear, the only people that notice your watch are other watch enthusiasts and thieves. Buy the watch you like, don't buy a watch if your getting it to show off or want to be noticed by other people, totally the wrong approach.
I've always wanted a two tone watch, I've said it for years but what you've just said has also been my concerns,,, that's why it's taken so long..... let's see how it goes 🤩
Hey Andrew, great choice. I picked up my 41 DateJust on my 60th birthday… and it’s a keeper. White gold fluted bezel, jubilee bracelet, black dial and stick batons… simply a classic. I admire it every day. Good for you with your purchase, you deserve it. I know exactly what you mean about it looking a bit too blingey sometimes… especially at work. 🤣 Look forward to the next instalment.
I got the same exact TTDJ from my AD this past April. Everything you said is spot on. Enjoy your new timepiece, wear it and don't worry about scratching it. Although with all the watch muggings on the rise I have worn my Rolexs out much. It's a crazy world. Stay safe and enjoy the bling!
Congratulations mate. Such a beautiful piece, I wasn’t expecting TTDJ.. Around 17-18 aud is a bit of coin, I could imagine being apprehensive. You have another inbound…! Yikes..! I know what you mean about this hobby. It takes its toll. You have an awesome collection now. Is it time…? Not yet, soon….☺️
Cheers mate, appreciate the comment as always. Definitely a bit of apprehension but I'll get over it,,,,, think I'll try carry on for a short while yet!!
Nice mate, I love my two tone mate. That’s one of the reasons I went with jubilee, you don’t notice the scratches as much. Also you could but a rubber Everest strap for maybe the winter, that would look class on a black one 👍👍👍
On the waitlist for my next & last Rolex from my local AD. Plain white dial with smooth bezel on an oyster bracelet. Not in the same league bling wise but goes with my other pieces in the collection. DJ 41mm are class & timeless, congratulations on the new watch great purchase.
Congratulations on the new watch. It’s beautiful 🤩. I have worn a two tone 16613 submariner since 1997 and it’s spot on. Look 👀 forward to seeing second watch tomorrow 🍻
I know that feeling when you get the watch you've been craving for. I wouldn't be in a hurry to polish it, maybe let it age gracefully. Depends if you like patina or not. Well done!!
It looks fantastic and I think a 2 tone datejust IS Rolex . I think it suits your personality perfectly but.... A watch for life Andrew.? Have you been getting too much sun? ☺️ Enjoy it mate!! 👍👌
Awesome Andrew.. I think you can get something for your bracelet to help with protecting it from scratches.. It actually fits so tight you can’t see the film.. Congratulations on your purchase
What a beautiful watch. No cliche at all, thats the perfect watch day and night East to West.....Many styles come and go but that is the most recognizable and copied style watch in production. I like the champagne face but black is beautiful.
Well done mate it’s a quality pick up and think the idea of a long term relationship . Personally I’ve never worn Rolex to work they have always been weekenders for me but it’s up to the individual and how they feel . Very true no one cares what we wear . Watched a guy at a high end holiday resort on you tube asking people to name watch brands . Apple and Rolex were the answer after that people were struggling .. A watch is a watch to most people .
I have the exact same DJ41, exactly the same and I stumbled upon this video by accident. I bought mine new in 2019 and it’s a beautiful Rolex indeed I think it’s one of the best looking in their entire collection. I also own a sub date and an Air King and I wear this when I fancy a bit of bling or with a suit/formal wear. It’s a very beautiful piece which I’ll keep for good and pass on to my kids. Good choice and great bang for the buck in the current market!
great collection Michael 👏 and I definitely need something that can complement this as it won't be suitable all the time.... but its such a beautiful thing!!
Oh man, I was wondering about you. Almost 2 months, since your last video. I sent you a couple of messages, on some of your older videos, just trying to check on you. I was genuinely concerned, that something had happened to you. I'm really glad to know, that everything's alright. To be honest, I know that feeling of anxiety, that grows ever increasing, as you draw ever closer to a purchase. A purchase of that magnitude, I can only imagine the utter confusion, and distress. The average person would never understand, the level of anxiety, that our OCD puts us through. To think, we're supposed to enjoy this sh!t...lol. Crazy!!! I think you've made a purchase, that can age gracefully w/ you. A purchase that ultimately, I don't think you'll ever regret, and that you could pass down to the next generation. Congratulations, my friend. I'm truly happy for you, and relieved to hear that all is well. I can only imagine that between the moving, regular life, and the imminent purchase w/ almost endless possibilities, that you easily didn't have time, for much else. Wear it in good health. Cheers, from across the pond
Thank you and yeah, you are spot on. It all got too much with the house move and this all took a back seat.,, glad to be back now though and I appreciate your message as always! 🙏
@@watchandrew 🤣🤣 what is it! I know so many people that are into watches are into their pens also! I managed to pick up a 18kt gold Cross pen for €20 in a charity shop. Original box and manuals!
Congratulations on the Rolex. I had / still have some of the same reservations about my own Rolex purchase. It is still my favourite watch, but not one I can get away with wearing everyday at the office or just mincin' about London.
Well done Andrew. Think it's a beauty pal. Enjoy everytime you put it on. Should always wear what you want that's all that counts. I have a superocean heritage on mesh and that is blingy as a. But if it makes you feel good who cares. Sometimes we wanna have a bit of bling to feel good hey? Congrats mate and wear in good health 👏
Yes mate! Congrats! It’s an absolute stunner 🖤💛 Assuming the other piece is a more wear anywhere do anything piece from Omega or Tudor? Is the Blackbay coming back?!
Congrats 👏 Andrew on your new watch. There’s no doubt that it’s beautiful, but it would be a bit too blingy for me. It’s all subjective, and you love it, which is the most important thing of all. Wear it in good health mate, and I look forward to your next reveal. 💪
I know exactly what you mean. Wearing “too much” watch in front of the “wrong person” can mess with your head. That’s a gorgeous piece. - btw my Duckworth Orange Fumé is on the way thanks to you! 😎👍🏼 keep those vids coming.
Chiming in late from Northern California😃. Lovely watch. Enjoy❗ When you get a luxury watch, it’s easy to lose track of the zeros. Just don’t wear in into London.
I think it looks amazing!! F what other people think. Wear it in good health!! I'm personally eyeing the two tone rose gold with the slate dial. That one looks the best to me. Enjoy!
Unfortunately in this country we have a lot of people who are bitter or negative when they see expensive watches or cars. Some people will never understand why watch addicts put their money on a wrist rather than in a bank. Just enjoy that beautiful watch mate and the feeling it gives you😎
Congratulations mate it’s a nice watch. Just curious why you said you’ve no chance at an ad. In my experience if you’re genuine and find a decent ad you will get there.
I got the "mail" last Thursday for a Datejust 41 at retail. Decided to delay the pick up by 2weeks so that I can get it on my 40th...but I had the coversation with my wife earlier. Can I wear a Rolex etc etc It's going to be weird and will take some getting used to, but like you explained. No one will probably care/notice and it will all be in my head!
Nice watch Andy. It’s all down to personal taste, life would be very boring if everyone liked the same thing. My date just is all steel, it’s Anonymous, nobody notices it, it’s not flashy or stands out. Just how I like it. Enjoy it. 🍺
Nice watch. A TT Datejust is never a bad buy and not at the price you paid. The market has turned though. There may be even better buying chances ahead. The recent madness seems behind us with present economic circumstances. Interesting times ahead.
Love the datejust, but I prefer the jubilee bracelet on this model. Nothing wrong with a bit of two tone though , as tudor are doing quite a few of them now too. It looks a bit blingy now , but in a couple of years the gold will calm down a bit. I like the new 41 mm size as the 36mm looks a tad small , especially if your a big guy. My Mrs has a full gold datejust with a complete diamond face, and it looks amazing. It was her aunts , so it's sentimental to her. I wouldn't mind but I'm the watch nut and I have never owned a rolex despite wanting one !!! I think the datejust is rolexes best watch design and very iconic. Even though I could pay cash 2moro and get one, I won't, because I can't justify spending 10k on one. My watch collection would cost about 10k new, but has cost me about 5k by buying nearly new. I don't think I'd lose much at all if I sold them all off either, so it isn't too expensive a hobby really. I had a tot up the other day and think I've spent just over 6k in the last 8 years, when I started to buy nicer pieces and lots of straps !!! My best buy was a rado original diver, which I got out of a charity shop for £300. It would have been around £1500 new . Rado are a bit blingy , but it's nice to have a bit of bling Andrew. I'm quite happy with my collection , as I've got the rado, and a rado captain cook in green , a tag heuer formula one chronograph ca1212-1, a seiko spb 051, an edox hydro sub and my latest pick up is a seiko sla 043. The seiko sla 043 is my best watch probably, and the quality is just amazing. I got that used but mint for £2350 on eBay, which was a bargain considering they cost £4080 new in 2020. I think I'm done collecting now, but I'm probably just lying to myself !!! Lol.
you've done well with your spending and results their Martin!!! some great watches and you are spot on,,, I always think im done collecting but find myself constantly looking for the next hit 😂
@@watchandrew, well I am a Yorkshireman after all, and it's better for someone else to take the initial hit. You can also get bored of watches quite quickly, so it makes sense to buy nearly new, in case you want to flip them. I still enjoy all mine, but time will tell if I keep them all . I haven't sold any of my watches though in the last 8 years, so who knows ?
Absolutely ''the hairline scratches are not the end of the world'' but if I was paying a huge, big, whopping FIVE FIGURE sum for ANY brand of watch, it would be an absolute & complete no no as far as I'm concerned BUT this is not about me, it's only ALL about YOU & as a consequence, I'm absolutely delighted for you that you're delighted with your new Rolex & as others have already said, please take every sensible precaution as to when & where you wear it as it only needs one wrong un' wherever you are to know exactly what's on your wrist.....
Thanks Frank,,, and I think you are spot on,, it's a lot of money for something that 'you need to be carful with or it'll scratch' - part of me wanted a sub date that I could wear all day every day and not worry about but I've wanted a two tone watch forever and it doesn't get more classic than a two tone datejust.
Wondered why the lack of social media coverage of late, saving yourself coming back with a big one, having followed you for a while, I think that "watch for life" is just the honeymoon phase, I think you'll not get on with the size overtime, as you said you've got used to the Globemaster at 39mm which is much better size and proportion, that date just looked chunky on you. Also the fact you said you had 15k to play with, it feels like you've made do with the 10k date just instead of pushing that bit more for the ones you initially said you wanted, if you stick with great but I'm waiting for the vid about "why I had to sell the Rolex" 😁
Haha,,, I've totally been asking for a comment like this over the years and you are spot on mate 😆 but I've ALWAYS wanted a two tone watch and don't feel I've settled, especially with my extra edition coming in!! Not paying massively over retail was a consideration and I'm happy I didn't.
@@watchandrew can't help but wonder what the incoming piece is . I have similar views to yourself about Rolex. I know they're not technically the best watches in the world . But I love them
Two tones ain't for me but we'll done on your purchase. I think it's better to spend a few grand over retail to wear and emjoy the watch NOW rsther than to wait to buy it retail and hope that Rolex deems you worthy it have in a few years time.
I believe that being a watch RU-vidr and a collector you could have gotten any of the sports steel models from an AD, you could have tried. Paying over retail is a big no, no for me, I do not think it is a wise decision, to say the least. P.D.: I believe that is not safe at all to wear something like that in London, which is becoming a third-world city.
I'm the exact same as you regarding it being an absolute no, no for me too ''paying over retail'' & particularly in an overall FALLING market but each to his own.....
I think if I mentioned my channel it might of gone against me if anything! Especially with my selling history 😆 I didn't want to give them the joy of shutting me down again🤣 There will definitely be times for me not to wear this watch as well.
