Wowsers!! just noticed this video shot to 10k views!! Glad you love the Omega (as do I 😈). I would say the Rolex is far more elegant, and the Omega is stunningly bling bling. I feel truly honoured to have both in my hands/on my wrist. Its like having an M5 and E63 on your drive! Looking for an RS6 watch now haha. Orient Aquis Pro 4000m perhaps?
@@Shawn-ky2tw Haha thanks! I am only on 500 ish subs lol, and do not actually want to be monetised. Great if I can entertain, inform, and help a few peeps though ; ) I have had a couple of fast Audis, and test drove an RS6 once, at the insistence of the dealer (my Audi test drives would make a good video!! 🥴) My car days are behind me now though. All about the left wrist, not the right foot ; ) I miss the days when S/RS were only Estates (Avants), and S models had wider arches. A re mapped S3 was so much more drivable than the stock version. A V6 Allroad (de tuned RS6 engine) with roof box on the autobahn was fun too! 😈
@@wristopia4101 We can still get an RS6 Avant in Canada. I see a black one driving around sometimes and it's an insane amount of car and as good as it gets IMO. I had a 2017 Golf R and that was a speedy go-cart! Has a lipstick red S4 and SQ5 as well. Got rid of the SQ5 last year for a Lexus GX 460 that I love. Best truck I've ever had and also left the speed behind me. I'm much more well behaved with a sluggish off-road V8! Going to both Omega and Rolex today to look at both of these watches and will see how long a wait for the Deepsea. Not sure I'll wait forever though and might bite the bullet on an Ultra Deep. The dark blue dial or the white dial/bright blue bezel is the question! Might want to do a rubber band, but would rather get the steel one and buy the rubber one later. Doesn't seem like the rubber band is available separately though..
got the ultra deep 75th anni, with the limited edition dial. Its a great watch the smaller dial makes it look more useable and less invasive on the wrist.
Top Man ; ) Have never looked at the titanium one because I prefer bracelets, but a fitted to case rubber deployant would be damn sexy!! Ironically got the Steel (long story) because its a James Cameron Deepsea homage.
Hi, thanks for this video, I very munched enjoyed it, since I was battling to decide. But I was leaning towards the Omega, I think Omega just got this so perfect! My only question is, after all the Omega is 45.5mm, which is 1.5mm bigger than the Rolex. Ones it feel bigger? Secondly, is this the kind of watch that you wear tight, or loose? Thanks!
Hi there, So glad the video was helpful. I will answer the easy question first. Personally I aim to wear all watches the same way, not too tight, not too loose. I do not see the size and weight changing anything. Yes, the Omega feels bigger! They are both big though, so I do not see that as a deciding factor. I love big watches, and have a 7.5" wrist. I have only worn the Rolex for hours at a time, and the Omega for a day or two (on holiday last year) at a time. The Rolex is definitely more 'wearable' (for multiple reasons), but there is not much in it. They both have different qualities, which I see as complimenting, rather than competing (sorry if that sounds crass). My favourite watch is the PO 600m, which is much smaller, but still not something I would consider a daily for me after wearing it for a whole week once. I also feel (as I said in the video) that the bracelet on the Omega is too small for its size, but that's just an aesthetic thing mainly, and I am unsure if a wider one would help with comfort, or just add annoyingly to weight. The Omega puts a bigger smile on my face, but that takes nothing away from the Rolex. Can I ask which watch you have that's nearest to it? Also, are you in the UK? You really should be getting at least 15% off list for the Omega (let me know if you need help with achieving that). What colour do you have in mind? Hope all that helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions ; )
I tried on the Rolex two days ago and it felt very nice for its size. I think I would prefer the sea dweller 43mm though. They didn’t have one for me to try on. I wish Rolex would offer the 43mm without the cyclops or a no date version. I own an Omega PO and looking at this chunky Omega, I really like the looks better than the Rolex. I like the way Omega puts a beveled edge on the case. It presents itself thinner on the wrist imo.
If you take the dive exntesion off the Rolex.. it's the most conftable watch ever! I tried the omega on at my dealer and honestly also love it! Both are great
The 50th Anniversary Sea-Dweller would be the sweet spot IMO. Have only held one and had on wrist unsized, but having worn bigger and smaller I feel it would be the perfect for me size wise.
I like the 2 brands I have an Omega and a Rolex and the Deepsea seems more solid and better made in my eyes, especially when you compare the 2 watches to the case on the opposite side of the watch adjustment button, it's obvious.. .
Would be a better if you could see both faces up instead of you looking at it. I think what you are trying to say is that the Omega Ultra Deep Bezel and the crown screw down are not as refined and engineered like a Rolex Deep Sea.
I wouldnt swap the Rolex for the Omega. The Deepsea is an epic watch and combines extreme robustness with exceptional finishing. I dont think Omega bracelets and clasps get anywhere near Rolex. Plus the Deepsea is a much more classic design as well. Win for Rolex for me.
@@MaestroDeca sorry buddy but that is not true at all. I have both watches and Rolex bracelets and especially the clasps are far better than what Omega make. The clasp on the Deepsea is probably its best feature and in my opinion this clasp is far superior to any of the other steel sports watches that Rolex makes.
@@MaestroDeca Hi there. Thanks so much for commenting. I love it that people like different things in watches. Hoping I gave a fair opinion of the differences.
The difference between the watches is as follows: Rolex is for old pundits, painfully familiar and unchanging and Omega is for young people looking for an alternative to the dullness of Rolex.

Well that's one (slightly rude?) way to look at it I guess. My take is that evolution is a good thing. A watch can only be so different, it's not like a car or house, that can. Someone who has multiple watches will probably enjoy having both types, and someone with one just wants the best one I would have thought, so history is pretty much irrelevant IMO. Omega does not seem particularly 'young' to me, although the Planet Ocean and Ultradeep (and Speedster X33 Quartz) are very fresh feeling. The Ultradeep needs to 'evolve' a bit IMO. Evolution has certainly benefited the 600m PO and X33.
14:42 what on Earth are you even talking about here my man? 🤦♂️ The “cupcake” helium escape valve on the SMP 300 is DEFINITELY barely noticeable. I’ve had mine now for a year and it does not bother me at all and when I do actually notice that it’s there……the last thing that I think is how “annoying” it is 🙄. I personally think it compliments the SMP 300 quite nicely!
Each to their own, I just really do not like the shape and the whole watch design is not for me, so the SMP300 HEV is the cherry on the cupcake! I agree with you that we just get used to things we don't like being there, and I actually hope Omega keep the HEV on any new Planet Ocean because on balance I think it adds to the watch, and I do like the brand recognition. It is odd though that we love such small differences in watches, but then say we do not notice quite a big thing we do/may not like. A manual HEV is also another crown that you have to ensure is screwed down in water or even just humidity ; ) The Cyclops (Rolex) and Power Reserve indicator (Grand Seiko) are worse and less easy not to notice IMO, but its great that some people love them 🤗
@@wristopia4101 you don’t like the watch design of the SMP 300? Why not? I understand it’s not as expensive as the PO but you don’t think it’s a gorgeous watch?
@@GQguy24 I certainly don't like it but beauty is in the eye of the beholder ; ) Expense has nothing to do with it! The PO is just a much better design IMO. Skeleton hands, odd shape bezel, fussy bracelet, no taper, and HEV shape would be my top 5 dislikes I think.
@@GQguy24 Case shape, wavy dial (that just adds to the weird mix of design features), caseback shape, and coming on a pin buckle as standard on rubber if you need four more!
@wristopia4101 yes I went the Geneva boutique twice to try it on, ready to buy, until a little voice told me way too thick. I left. As for my SMPs, they have the older small escape valves. I don't like the new ones.
@@robynsjp Nice, I do love the SMP's lineage ; ) I'm assuming you mean the 300's? Have you tried a 600 Planet Ocean? The 43.5mm is my favourite watch, and its odd the smaller version is not in shops, yet was the size chosen for the Summer Blue!
@wristopia4101 My collection is vintage. My divers are support pieces for the beach, the pool, outside activities. So the 4 SMPs purchased at about 2K each do the job ! I don't think it makes sense to add a diver. My focus is on 1960s rare pieces.
