How to make a rolling tool cart. I am using this as a rolling planer stand. Building a tool cart doesn't have to be hard or complicated if you want something simple and cheap. This really is a cheap tool cart, coming in at around $45 for materials. This makes a great DW735x planer stand. This is a simple DIY tool cart that anyone can build. A great way to add tool storage to your shop is to build a tool storage cart like this. This is an easy tool cart to build. Obviously there are fancier carts than this. However, if you want an inexpensive tool cart, this is the way to go. I used 7/16" OSB as my decking and 2x4's for the structure. You can use plywood if you wanted a cleaner look to your utility cart. Check the links below for the supplies, tool cart plans and tools used in this build. This rolling tool cart is easy to move around the shop and will keep tools stored off the floor. Being able to easily store my planer on this cart will be so convienent. This planer cart will hold the 735x planer without any issues. If you want to build a DW735X planer cart like this, let me know in the comments below. You can use this as a drill press cart, band saw cart, or any number of tools. Affiliate links below.

I heard that brother! I'm 62 years old and I've had my DW735 since they came out. I love it, but that thing is a beast to move, even when I was younger and stronger. A dedicated mobile stand is the way to go!

Just built this to put my planer on and my sander. Been meaning to do it for a while and finally have a project I need it for. The ripped 2x4 felt a little weak but I was also about to run out of long enough pieces anyway so the rip came in handy. Put a full 2x4 as a cross brace on the bottom shelf too to make me feel better, but again the top was really the important one because the planer is so heavy. I used 3/4 plywood instead of OSB which is probably a little sturdier. I climbed up on it and shook it (and I'm about 240lbs) and it felt rock solid. I just used pocket holes without glue in case I ever want to take it apart to modify a bit in the future.

Hey Matt, thanks for the layout. I found it not only easy to do, but very universal as well. I made a cart for my planer, (same DeWalt model as yours), and then modified the dimensions to make a stand for a jigsaw table too! I wanted to use a jigsaw like a scroll saw, it came together really quickly and turned out great. I actually had to stop myself from over-engineering it! BTW, one mistake I made on the planer stand was buying casters from Harbor Freight. Not worth it! You truly get what you pay for!

I need a new shop cart so I have been looking at various videos here on RU-vid. It is really great to see how much you have grown as a presenter of your various woodworking topics. You seem so much more relaxed and comfortable in front of the camera now. As others have said, you just seem like the kind of guy that you would like to go to a Restaurant, have a nice meal with and talk shop. I have no doubt you will reach your goal of 1 million subscribers before you know it.

Thanks much for this video. I followed your review of the planer, and mine arrived yesterday. I first thought about making the cart to where I could put a removable top on it, above the planer top, to stand in as an extension table for my saw, but found that the planer table would be too low to function well. I'll give this a shot and make it like you did. Since I don't have the pocket hole jig, I'm going to use half laps. That requires different 2x4 dimensions, but not a thing at all. Oh, for some of your viewers, OSB is Oriented Strand Board, and as you say, just glued up wood chips.

I like this plan but I'm wondering a few things. 1) wouldn't it be stronger to run a 2x4 UNDER the legs to attach the casters to? (Instead of between) 2) I recommend turning the top supports on their edge/vertical.

I've watched this and want to use your plan for my planer as well, not the Dewalt I went with the Wen but nevertheless should work fine j was wondering I wanted to use 4x4 for the legs and 2x4 for the rest and OSB for the top, I also was thinking about putting my miter saw Bosch GCM 12 SD so I can roll it into driveway in summer months, I don't have a dedicated Mobil miter saw stand the Bosch one is like 329 bucks and seems kinda expensive for a stand but the saw is 629 bucks so I guess you want it to support your investment anyway that is why I wanted to use the 4x4 for the legs because I thought it would be more stable
