This is an incredibly important insight, that growing indeterminate tomatoes in small hydroponic appliances is totally doable as long as you aggressively prune the growing stems.

You know, I'm always surprised with what you grow in these systems! I can't imagine what you'd be up to with something as big as a Gardyn hydroponic system!

If you want to try another Roma type, you might grow Little Napoli or Window Box Roma. Both are small plants and do well in containers, so I think they may do better in an Aero-type setup. I'd also recommend that you try Aztek micro dwarf tomato. It does very well in a 10" basket, and produces tasty, yellow cherry tomatoes. They are larger (for me) than the Yellow Canary variety.

Thank you for mentioning the other Roma varieties. I will keep and eye for seeds. I do have Aztek micro dwarf seeds but not getting an opportunity to try them yet. I am going to try them sometime soon.

I’ve been waiting for this one!! It would be amazing to be able to grow romas inside. Oh well. The search and the experiments continue! Also, romas just aren’t very juicy. They are fleshy and good for sauce. That being said those did look a little weak.

Do a tomato grow experiment changing water and not changing water. You’ll be surprised by the results.

I have grown Tom Thumb Dwarf peas in Bounty. Results are pretty similar to the ones grown in Harvest. I published the video growing in Harvest but in Bounty yet. I haven't tried Sun gold tomatoes yet.

Yes i see it like you that it is not worth the time and effort to grow big varieties like these. There is a reason why Aerogarden offers two micro dwarf tomato varieties. But i do like your experiments, always interesting. :-)

I went home over Christmas, trying to find this vegetable only found in my dad's province in China called Caitai, instead I found some 2017 seeds of a plant called Strawberry Spinach. Supposedly it's a spinach that grows red berries. Since my Malabar spinach seeds I got from Amazon didn't germante at all, I will try to germinate these I got from an honorary corporation.
@CancerArpegius
@CancerArpegius Год назад
You should check these out. They look really pretty too, although the berries are probably better made into a jelly.

I wonder if they would of done better in a aero garden farm model or a dwc 5 gallon bucket!
@aerogardenexperiments
@aerogardenexperiments 10 месяцев назад
Yeah, I believe they will do better in Farm models. Light from Bounty is good enough, but they need more height support. I also feel like they need more nutrients.

I grew some Romas as well, I think mine were of the determinant variety because they did not get nearly as big as yours. But I had the same problems. The plants eventually did poorly, the tomatoes were small and dry, and the plant stopped producing flowers. I might give it another try but only one per bounty, and up the feeding as the plant get bigger. Otherwise, I think I might stick with cherry tomatoes as well. If I grow enough, I'll have enough. Mine are still growing but I don't think it will be for much longer.
