***** I know that "você" is more common. But you could also have used the "usted" for Spanish which is more formal than "tu" but less than "vos". You chose to go to "vos" in Spanish, so I think it'd be consistent to go for "vós" too in Portuguese. When I go to Portugal I still hear "vós" enough. I never heard this about being reserved for royalty. Perhaps not as much in the centre and south but I do quite get that in the north. We don't use "vos" in Spanish as much either and you still got it in. I was going for consistency, not much for frequency of use.

+Alexandra Ortez Indeed "vós" is still very frequently used in the north of Portugal, but in standard Portuguese (i.e. Portuguese from Coimbra or Lisbon) it isn't really used that much, unless we're talkig with or about royalty, in which case it is te common accepted way of doing so. The speech of the northern portuguese is tipically more conservative, so in the north it is still quite more common to use "vós". Heck, in Trás-os-Montes it can even be rare to hear "Tu" :D

***** Vós will only be "you guys" or "you lot" (in Portugal) in the north, and I'm pretty sure for rest of Portugal and nearly all Portuguese speakers elsewhere that conjugating verbs in their secind person plural (i.e. using the pronoun "Vós") would sound archaic, and even silly. The pronoun "Vocês" has taken over the role of "Vós" with verbs being conjugated not in their traditional second person plural forms when using it but in their third person plural endings. Likewhise, "Você", singular of "Vocês" serves as an alternative to "Tu" (with verbs also being conjugated in their third person singular forms), but in Portugal at least that is reserved for adressing people formally, or when employing a ratter contemptuous attitude towards the listener, so as to porpusefully keep distance between the two. Like in Spanish, "Vós" today will really only be used when adressing royalty, or when adressing God directly, as it is (not in the north of course) an ultra-formal and very respectful way of adressing anyone. As such, I'm not sure what you mean with «the "vós" that they use is "you guys"/"you lot" and not "your majesty."», since from my experience as a native Portuguese, "Vós" is only used as I have told you.

"vos quiere pagar" isn't correct. It's either "vos querés" (used in Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Central America), "vos queréi" (used in Chile) or "vos queréis" (archaic way of saying "usted quiere" or "vosotros queréis"/"ustedes quieren").

In French Dinero / Denaro = Denier, but we use it only when it concerns medieval times or literature ! :)

+Estou sem criatividade "A gente" não é um termo brasileiro, é um termo português. No Algarve, sul de Portugal, eles usam "a gente" no lugar de nós. Aqui no Brasil sós recebemos essa influência e acabamos adquirindo a expressão. No Brasil ainda se usa as duas: a gente/nós, mas "a gente" é largamente muito mais usada do que "nós". No eixo Rio-Sampa, quase ninguém usa o "nós" na fala. (Talvez n interior de SP, na capital, menos) O S com som de sh é minoritário no Brasil mesmo, se restringindo à região metropolitana da cidade do Rio, a Florianóplis, a algumas cidades do nordeste e às regiões metropolitanas de Manaus e Belém.

Então você não teve muitos contatos com portugueses. Menos ainda com os portugueses do Algarve.

+Planete X "gente" é mais usado de forma informal nas camadas mais jovens da sociedade. O seu uso é mal visto quando usado de outra maneira e é raramente utilizado por pessoas acima de 30 anos.

Eu creio que na verdade seria mais por influência do francês, como o "ti" e "di" pronunciamos igual ao francês por influência do próprio.

Infelizmente o português aqui no Brasil é ensinado de uma maneira muito porca. O uso correto dos pronomes pessoais é algo místico, então as pessoas usam o que der na telha. É complicado.

"Eu o vejo" ou "eu a vejo" estão corretos, vocês portugueses que desrespeitam a reforma ortográfica.😒

E a "gráfica" pt/pt é considerada totalmente incorreta e sem sentido para maioria dos brasileiros.👎

Nós não usamos "eu vejo-lhe" nós usamos "eu te vejo" que é a maneira mais comum.

As a French i'd say our language can be divided into Oral French and Litteral French which are quite different. Since we text or talk on Facebook like we do in oral it's normal to have informal speech but yes e wouldn't do that on mail. :)

Exactament. Hi han dos dialectes estàndars, els del català central i el valencià. Probablement el valencià sigui més fàcil. Tots els dialectes es poden entendre fàcilment.

¿Os? You are confused.... There is not that person in Spain, now and another time. "Os" is personal pronoun 2 person plural. It can be used in sing. like a antique formal form. "Vos/os" is the same thing but "vos" is not pronoun because is used always with a name. "os" is pronoun because it is used always without any name. You probably use "se" because you forgot the second form of plural and use "ustedes" always

Profoundly untrue. Romanian grammar is actually closest to Latin out of all romance languages. Western Romance languages have all been strongly influenced by Germanic languages, making them a lot closer to each other, but not closer to Latin or Romanian.

Why? Prieten is more used than amic, no matter the origin ! We don't have to copy anyone, we can be ourselves with our own special features ! I can't even believe we have to be a part of the Latin family, they are sooooo boring, they're trying to make us be like them :(

+Baptiste Reis A little bit, but the spanish "j" is more similar to the german/hebrew "ch", the arabic "kh" and the dutch "g". The french "r" is more similar to the arabic "gh", the hebrew "r", and the portuguese "r" (at the begin of the word).

Après quand tu dis prononcé tu veux dire plus comme le jota ou comme le grasseyement à la Edith Piaf ? Le "r" aspiré de "arrive" je dirais qu'il ressemble beaucoup au r brésilien si tu vois ce que je veux dire.

El vos se usa desde centro América hasta Argentina .___. que mierda hablas, que sólo hayas escuchado a argentinos diciendo vos no significa que sólo se use allá, la mitad de Colombia usa el vos, en centro América se usa muchísimo, sobre todo en Nicaragua, en Uruguay también se usa demasiado, algunas zonas de Paraguay igual Aunque bueno, ya han pasado un par de años desde que comentó y espero que no siga tan ignorante, saludos de un máster en lingüística
