Romanticizing Your Life is Delusional, Hate Comments & Fake Influencers 

I think Josh is confusing intentionally curating your life to look a certain way with romanticizing your life. Intentionally going out of your way to do something just for the aesthetic is pretending to be something you’re not. Romanticizing your life is taking regular everyday life things to the next level, like Sav said.. lighting a candle, using a cute glass for your homemade coffee, setting a vibe, etc. It’s things you’re already doing but adding a little extra so you can enjoy it more. Totally healthy.

Also romanticizing your life as a Christian is essential! It’s def not about being perfect cookie cutter but it’s about finding the beauty in your life despite the circumstances. Because regardless, truth is God is still good and still able. It helps you give perspective of all the ways you can be grateful. For example: my family and I are currently in a situation where we are financially insecure. But we eat breakfast, lunch and dinner, so I like to play cafe music and serve our meals in a special way even if it’s us eating the same thing back to back. I still get to have my coffee from my coffe machine that I got for 8$ at a thrift store, so I like to make that special. We can’t afford to go on dates and fun outdoor activities but the stuff we do at home, we make special. We might not have much but the little that we have, making it special is beautiful to me. Am I happy about our position in life and wanna stay in this reality forever? No, because I know God has bigger and better plans for us. However in the main time, I am content and grateful for all the little things I get to experience.

I think romanticising your life is a great way of making the mundane day to day things more meaningful and (for lack of a less delulu term) magical. It can be anything like dancing in the rain or taking in the stars on a clear night Listening to your fav music and dancing around the room. It's replacing the seriousness of adulthood, with that childlike kind of wonder or hope that we kind of lost along the way. It's writing in your journal while sitting in a beautiful outdoor park. Or just being mindful and having a gratitude mindset about life in general. It's basically taking a mundane situation and making it more beautiful for you, however tiny that change may be. Anything that takes you out of the staleness of "normal" life. It's more of a mindset than an aesthetic.

Josh is talking about staging your life, not romanticizing it Romanticizing has to do with life in abundance, like Jesus said, a getting away from depression, anxiety and all these things. Instead, for me it's keeping my mind on things above, when difficulty does come, which it will, I easily look to Jesus because I've been looking to Him all along not getting swept up by small disturbances but instead being aware of the presence of Holy Spirit

The whole Charlie Damelio thing I think is less about wether or not she’s allowed to be depressed and more about why we “the public” put people on pedestals who may not have the emotional health, or social responsibility to be platformed. Doesn’t mean they need to be perfect but they do need to be somewhat equipped. Keith Lee was a good example because of his levelheadedness/faith/social responsibility to the public. We trust him bc of the way he carry’s himself.

Been here from the start ever since sav's dancing days and the progress of you two in your family is remarkable . To come as far as you two have and still walk in his glory through all the trials and tribulations is something the world should strive too do. keep up the great work.

You guys don’t romanticize your life..I’m a sixty year old and in my opinion you two just live your life with dignity and if you move something out of frame first, you are simply living your authentic self..you two always strive to put your best foot forward...ALWAYS..that’s a super duper positive..you care how things are perceived and that is such a NONselfish default. You don’t do it to make YOURSELVES look better..you simply have standards...uh,...YAY!!!! There’s nothing wrong with making the choice to do better...no matter WHAT it is you’re doing. For those who hate on influencers showing up on the for you page a huge way to avoid it is to just stay off tick tock, social media etc! Isn't that pretty much what social media is about showing your lives.... I don't even have tick tock. But I love you guys and support so much you guys stand for, hence why I watch RU-vid is to watch the people I agree with and want to follow 😊

I would agree that Josh isn’t using the term romanticizing your life in the right context. Romanticizing your life is like.. pausing and finding the good in everything. Like viewing life through rose colored glasses. It’s like taking a morning stroll to the local coffee shop instead of driving to Starbucks, it’s drinking a fun mock tail for dinner in your fanciest glass instead of the 50¢ plastic target cup you just pulled out of the dishwasher, it’s slowing down and noticing the tune the birds are chirping to instead of focusing on the million things you have going through your head while you rush off to your next errand. I’ve been working on this myself and I feel like I’m viewing life through a brand new lens. It’s so refreshing and I highly suggest everyone practice it!

First off I love your hair!!! Either way you are gorgeous. Second I don’t mind the ads and discount posts, what I can’t stand is when an influencer pushes a product or says they love something when it’s actually a horrible product or they haven’t even tried it. Because yes they are getting their bag for promoting it, but it should be something that they’ve actually tried and liked, so that they aren’t lying to their audience to get them to buy it. That’s what I don’t like. I feel like it’s mostly in the makeup world though that I can think of lol

I just need to comment and say this is an AMAZING podcast. The conversation surrounding this is so so so good! We do it without intention and I think posting your food with no spills or making something look nice for the post is just part of life. Everyone does it because we want to look good for our followers.

I loved this talk, it flowed so well and natural. The new studio is looking so nice and cozy-cannot wait to see how it will turn out in the end!. I love how you two interact with each other and still keep a funny and healthy environment. I love the green on Savannah-it matches her eyes, and I love her new haircut. You two are glowing. I relate so much with Savannah's personality. She is so mature and fair in her pointings. She always makes an effort to see the other side with compassion and understanding, always keeping an emphatetic and neutral position at the same time. We totally got what you were saying, fame does not buy happiness and to think it does is an illusion. The truth is that before numbers we are people. And anyone who throws hate on social media, is not actually criticizing the target, but it just shows how that person feels about him/herself. And I love the way Savannah made peace with that and does not get offended easily with whatever people say. At the end of the day, it's your life, and if someone doesn't like it, they can just skip it and not watch it, because it is impossible to please everyone. I don't think "putting your best foot forward" when posting content is necessarily romanticizing your life. Consider instances when you are having guests over and you try to clean up so that your house looks good when your guests arrive. I am not saying one has to, but if one chooses to ensure that they clean up before shooting a vlog or anything like that, then I do not see something wrong with that. Also, I love your content and all of that. Keep doing what you're doing!

First, I want to say I love watching y’all’s podcast! Every-time I see the thumbnail come up on my RU-vid feed I get excited! And when people hate on y’all or anyone doing social media as a job, let them hate because y’all are amazing at what you do and if they don’t like it they can move around. Also, Sav ate on this podcast forreal because I totally agree with her about the romanticizing your life situation and we should do it in a since of waking up everyday striving to have joy, peace, and love. Plus when you all were talking about Charli D’Amelio and how just because she has 100 million followers doesn’t mean her feelings are valid. We don’t know what that girl is going through. I think romanticizing your life is putting a special touch to an everyday thing just to make it a little more special in that moment... It could be as simple as using a fancy cup for your tea or weating a pretty spring dress to go for a walk when its only foe you. Im feeling very secondhand defensive for you Sav... Im tempted to go find those comments on shorts and tell them to leave you and your hair alone.... Lol.. i think its bomb, and as far as looking younger or older... Youre in your 20s still, you can pull off anything still.

I've seen influencers who romanticize their life, for example, dimming the lights and lighting candles in the kitchen as they wash the dishes. I thought it was kinda strange lol but to each their own!

Sav, I so agree with you on the Charlie issue. No one knows if their status is going to blow up at any given time. I think the term "famous" is not the one to use. She is human and has feelings and if that is how she was feeling, no one should disregard that. I think what Josh is thinking about is different than what romanticizing your life is. I think it’s completely healthy to add little things to your day like playing music during dinner or just focusing on a positive side of things. It’s not that you believe everything is perfect but more just making regular things like eating breakfast or running errands more of an extra fun thing.

I think romanticizing your life is 100% healthy. It’s about making the little mundane things in your life special. It doesn’t necessarily have to involve aesthetics. You can show the imperfections of your life and still be able to romanticize your life. You could be poor and still do it. Now being fake is a different story. I’m not gonna pretend like I always do something or that I always look a certain way or that my house is always in shape when it’s not. That’s not romanticizing your life or being Delulu loll that’s being fake. Lol you’re a con artist is you doing that.

Colossians 3:2, “Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth”. I think enjoying life through Christ is the only way to have a fulfilling life. Romanticizing life can cause you to idolize aspects of life or life itself; idolize by seeking out those special moments, when our sole purpose as believers is to love and seek God. There is nothing wrong with having special moments but we shouldn’t seek those moments, we should let God give them to us so that He is not robbed of any of the Glory due to Him. Let God curate our lives and tailor it to His needs and we in turn can live abundantly.

I 💯 agree with Sav on the Charlie thing. That would be saying that someone like Robin Williams should have been “more happy” and not have taken his life because of who he was. I’d say 100 of influencers romanticize their lives. I think Josh is right… there’s a point where you have to live life in the moment. But this is our perception as viewers. I’m sure your real lives are not how they are in front of the camera. Love you guys ❤

It's no diff than dressing yourself.. if you're going to work, you're gonna dress up, look put together, even to go to Walmart or whatever.
