Okay, this post is 8 years gone, and the Fed is still here. Dollars are a unit of account, not a store of value. If you want to store value, do what the smart people do: Invest. The 2006 price of silver Ron is using for his example in this video, at its peak was $17.78. At it's price peak in April, 2011 it sold for $55.40. Today it sells, again, for $17.97. So much for stable value. Silver is a commodity, and there's just not much demand for it. If you'd put the money Ron had in that silver into an index fund, back in 2011, when silver was at its most valuable, you would have $124.00 instead of $18. This is after, by the way, the 2020 COVID-19 crash in March. If you want to fix stagnant wages for working class people, going back to the silver standard isn't going to do it.
