But the civil war was fought for freeing the slaves. Reagan and trumps death count was from not caring about people. The republicans of today are not the same republicans of the 1800's
Ronald Reagan is and was the most talented orator I've ever heard. He flows so evenly and with such grace. He could tell you the White House was nuked this morning and everybody wouldn't have one concern after he tells the public,...it will be ok, we will rise above this and overcome this small mountain. Fear not fellow Americans, we will survive. All with that tone that would calm a hurricane on your front lawn. Too bad he is not with us. He wouldn't have any problem being re-elected.
+Yahron Mills Great orator? More like a great teleprompter reader. He gave this bit just like he gave (read) all his political speeches. Fluid and effective, but so contrived. Do you think Reagan ever wrote one speech he gave?
+Artie Compoccia Definition of an orator: One who is exceptionally gifted to speak eloquently. Doesn't matter if he wrote a single line. His delivery was always well expressed. This was my point. Not many has risen to his gift of speaking.
+Artie Compoccia It always shows, (other than at this roast) that it's a whole lot easier, and much more powerful when one BELIEVES in what one is reading. On top of that, as opposed to the "Talking Heads" in today's media, he actually PRE-READ everything he would say!! Take away "Mr." Obama's teleprompter and you'd have "The Sound Or Silence", which would not only be better for America, but a WHOLE lot more beneficial ! Just sayin'
+george scarlett Better for who? Certainly not for working people, much less the poor. Reagan did a nice number on them. As for the middle class? Well, what's left of it has been losing ground for a long time. I'm not sure how much Reagan did for the middle class. I know he helped rich people get richer with those unbalanced tax cuts. Obama raised the top earners tax rates and the economy grew. Another nail in the coffin of Reagan's discredited supply-side economic theory.
+Artie Compoccia My stepfather was a salesman, straight up middle class. Under Reagan we went from a small, modest home in the suburbs to a 10,000 square foot country home with four brand new cars in the driveway. Reaganomics didn't help the middle class? Bullshit. I was there and I lived it.
The Dean Martin Roasts were more dignified than Comedy Central's. But there were plenty of risqué jokes. They were just delivered in a dignified manner. Dean Martin was a class act. A good man. If you get a chance, Reagan had his turn on the hot seat. That whole roast was hilarious, but Don Rickles just killed it! Had Reagan in stitches!
@@jackcapone4375 Your comment is a perfect example of the "American attitude" towards others.Your country is responsible for a lot of unecessary shit happening after WWII and you, common, hardworking citizens were the tool to fullfill the establishments "sick" plans,.I bow to all brave soldiers and i shit on those who lead them. Ignorance is one of the worst forms of violence, remember that.
I watch with tears in my eyes. How I miss these wonderful people. There is no one around these days that come close to them. I have been truly Blessed to have been born when I was. I have seen the BEST of everything, and everyone. I do hope they can look down and know that we can see them every day, on these marvellous Inventions called Computers, Tablets, I Pods, Galaxy's and YOU TUBE. etc. God Bless all those who Upload these Film Clips.
It was less adversarial, and Hollywood hadn't become a leftist monoculture as it is today, where the only conservatives who dare let anyone know it are the ones like Clint Eastwood who are already established. In this panel, you had Gene Kelly and Orson Welles, who were politically liberal, along with Jimmy Stewart, who was staunchly conservative (and yet a close, lifelong friend to Henry Fonda, another arch-liberal). You don't see that much today, where leftist celebrities routinely nastily express their contempt for anyone not sharing their leftist views.
@BaleOfHay paramilitary death squads in Central America, tax cuts for the rich, costly arms race against the USSR, Iran Contra affair, support of apartheid South Africa, the UNITA in Angola & an economic policy which imploded a few years after he left office causing one of the worst recessions since the Wall street crash - yeah he really was incredible !
Ending the cold war? That was the Soviet union mate, they decided they had enough, they never achieved real communism. Maybe he was the best for the citizens of USA, but he was a catastrophe for the world, speculating, initiating wars, arming terrorists, destroying healthy economies that didnt go with the neoliberal agenda that BTW made millions of Americans poor and starting the stupid war on drugs, which is nothing else then to take control over the drug trade. He was one of the most evil man of his time.
@@jakebrad99 Well, the us funded the construction of Panama Canal back when teddy Roosevelt was president, then in the 70’s or 80’s, I can’t remember I’m typing all of this from memory, president jimmy carter was asked by Panama to give the canal back to them, and carter did I believe. So Reagan is saying Frank would’ve gotten the Venice canal instead. Please anyone that’s reading this correct me if I’m wrong or mistaken in certain parts.
@@jakebrad99 he meant he is such a artistic person. That if he was tasked to make panama canal. He will give venice as final result Meaning instead of generic boring huge canal like most people would do. He would make something as pretty as venice
I enjoy watching this clip over and over. Glimpses of a bygone era. Life was much simpler then. And there was honor amongst most politicians. We won't ever see this again.
A needed respite. Three minutes of pure joy watching and listening to the man who would become the greatest president. What a brilliant orator. Now back to reality of the cesspool that is today's comedy and mass media.
I was a young teenager during the Regean era and remember him setting an almost magical and joyful tone in the USA. I'm Canadian who had Grandparents, aunts and uncles with winter homes in Bradenton Florida. Regean was a special man with class and charm and moral fortitude. Good men are the truly great men in history.
I was a teenager throughout his two terms. America loved him, and rightfully so. The economy was great, the Soviet Union was collapsing, and Americans were proud of their country. The Left went to work immediately trying to rewrite history and brainwashing the next generation into believing things were bad. And now we have ignorant sheep preaching the insane ravings of their Marxist professors, cut from the smoldering ruins of that very same failed "empire." Today's "woke" crowd believe history, like gender, is malleable. IDIOTS!
That was a special time. Hard to believe over 40 years ago. You just can't explain it to someone who didn't live thru it. Just a happy wide open decade. I hope to see it again but I'm doubtful. I'm tired of the drudgery from our country.
He was funny as shit in clever and witty way, and his deliverance was spot on!! He was smart, humble, funny, he could laugh to himself also. Im not saying he was perfect, NO. But he was a good man, good president for the US. When his first term started he was allmost 70y old, cold war was on full swing, Breznev era USSR didnt show any signes of crumbling or anything like that. Then Reagan pretty soon got shot and survived it and publicly forgave his assailant and returned to his president duties fully recovered. He boosted economy in US, 80s was era of plenty, one year after his 2nd term ended DDR collapsed, 3,5 years after USSR collapsed. He probaply did more than any single person did to crush communism in Europe. Gorbatzhev too deserves credit for his politics, he too was a man who tried to make life better for average people in his country, probaply first and only leader with that quality in ussr history. He tried to bring ussr out of dark ages and he was willing to speak and deal with Americans more openly than any of his predecessors. Reagan kickstarted US economy and sorta turned the ship around and fixed Carters mistakes, he somewhat re-established the power of US in foreign policy and he didnt look only what could be done to benefit his country, his legacy lies in ending the cold war and bringing down communism in Europe. Without firing a shot. God bless you Ronald Reagan.
For years (seemingly) these people were all part of my growing up, and always seemed to be there, alive & healthy. Now, all of a sudden (seemingly), most of them are dead, and I'm wondering where it all went. I guess I'm next.
Good Day to all! Good Day to mfan...and thank you kindlly for sharing`! My Respect to all in the video! President Ronald Reagan was a wonderful actor!President Ronald Reagan was the Greatest U.S.President in U.S.History We Love President Ronald Reagan from all of our Hearts! Frank Sinatra was great and we sure do miss him! Very Sincerlly TG.
This is great! I was looking for my own RU-vid of my "Lt. Columbo" impersonation when I found Peter Falk and Ronald Reagan on other RU-vids, all relative to "Dean Martin's Celebrity Roasts" of Frank Sinatra...I was truly pleased to see "Columbo," Ronald Reagan, Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra all together for the fun, as I professionally impersonate all of them, like Rich Little, who also was a Roaster...great video, thank you!
one more example of why they called Ronald Reagan the Great Communicator. may not have agreed with all of his policies but he could really resonate with the people. He also had a deep respect for the office of president and the United States...
I thought Reagan spoke from the heart, I’m neither democrat or republican but I liked Reagan for the way he spoke to America, he always believed in himself and made you have confidence in him and the country, he is missed.
There are many people who praise Obama for being a down to earth leader. How I wish I could show them all this. I hope and pray one day, we stop being so divided over politics.
Very late, I know...but no wonder he was named The Great Communicator. And he was...both in humor and in politics. As a foreigner I'd say Mr. Reagan was one of the best Presidents of The Great US of A.
These roasts were always great…and you didn’t have to worry about anybody going up to the podium and slapping Don Rickles no matter HOW offensive he was to the roastee!
I saw a movie of Ronald Reagan with Lee Marvin and Angie Dickenson in The Killers and I am dedicating this movie to my old school friends who are both sisters as I hope to see them both again very soon to Chris and Hester from Billyxxxxx
This is fantastic. I wish I could speak like that. I didn’t really live Reagan. But wow. He’s a natural. So many lessons in that short speak on how to do it.
When President Reagan joked about someone he did it with class and it always was true. When President Trump does it it's always just mean and not valid.
