The great Ronnie James Dio, whilst on tour in Australia, is interviewed on Sounds with Donnie Sutherland in 1985. Ronnie discusses his time Rainbow, Black Sabbath, The Butterfly Ball and his band DIO.
Ronnie needed Ritchie and vice versa. Their chemistry was unique. Ronnie's finest moment in my opinion (1975-1978). Too bad we never had the chance to see a classic Rainbow reunion. R.I.P. Ronnie. The greatest heavy metal voice.
On another note The Butterfly Ball project never really gained the accolades or output it deserved. Brilliant album, brilliant musicians. It deserves to be ressurected and completed utlizing the technology now available.
In my perfect alternate world, Ronnie and Ritchie never parted ways and grew their amazing partnership into music never even imagined that got better and deeper every year. Ronnie's still alive, Rainbow runs the world, and earth literally became heaven.
Well stated, and also in your perfect alternate world, Ronnie would not have joined Black Sabbath and been instrumental in refreshing, reshaping, and resurrecting that band.
One of the greatest rock / metal vocalists ....I have always loved his voice.....I have dubbed him The Mario Lanza of Rock ....and I know that he was influenced by that great tenor whilst growing up .
