In the early 1980’s I would see bands like AC-DC, Queen, Kiss, Rush, Thin Lizzy etc along with many others. On one of my nights out in Liverpool I was walking past either the Liverpool Empire or The Royal Court Theatre and saw people queuing up for this man..as the poster said..” Rory Gallagher “. I knew the name but that’s about it. I always though, who is Rory Gallagher, I knew he was a guitarist, but I never got to see him. How I regret that, I suppose it was also because my group of friends didn’t mention him either. Wow what a player, much better than say some of the “ guitar heroes” of my youth…Ritchie Blackmore comes to mind. Yes he’s a great player but from the videos of Rory I’ve seen , he can play anything and the sound leaves me with goosebumps, something Blackmore never did. I also heard Someone say to Hendrix who do you admire and he said Rory Gallagher. Brian May, Jimmy Page and Eddie Van Halen, also speak very highly of him.
