Can't get enough of these live videos of the GOAT, bar none. He just lived to play live, and engaged the audience like very few others. People throw the word around very easily, but in this case it was justified. Genius. And that's before we get to the quality of the musicians that backed him up. That lineup was very, very special, but my pick of the bunch is Gerry McAvoy - surely one of the best bassists ever
I seen Jimi. Stevie Ray. Frank Marino. Johnny J. Beck and Rory to name a few. All were Great but Rory has always been my favourite. Seem Rory on mushrooms in the mid 70's in Vancouver So much energy. He did four encores :-) Peace
Living in nyc, was lucky to have seen him many, many times. he never became a super star in the united states but he did have a devoted following. seen many the same people at his shows. we love him and miss him RORY FOREVER
He didn't really become a "superstar' in Ireland because we are a nation of ballad lovers but to me and my husband he's the best ever that Ireland has ever borne loved him saw him every year since 1968
As exciting as Jimi and Stevie Ray. Has Jimi's abandon and Stevie Ray's precision and slide work right there with Duane Allman. Vocals just as singular and interesting as Jimi and Stevie too. Most overlooked guitarist/performer of the 20th century.
Always thought is SO UNDERRATED!!! He can write, sing, play electric slide, acoustic finger picking, and on and on. Frankly, his songwriting is beyond underrated. There are hits in his catalogue if he wanted to go that route. Gerry McAvoy is phenomenal, too. This is his best lineup.
Guys & gals your forgetting frank marino listen to his last performance at the agora in Ohio as good as Rory or better frank is world class on that sg he seamlessly goes from smooth rock to blues and jazz in one song his tone is heavenly he plays with so much feel and his phrasing is second to none he’s brilliant and should be in the rockn roll hall of fame as there are very few if any that can play like him along with Rory frank is my long time favorite since the 70’s very underated and unappreciated just my opinion
They are so tight and masters of their instruments !! Musicians at their finest ? Saw them 2X way back in Santa Barbara what a Ficken show !!! Thanks for a #10 Memory !!!
He was the one that all looked at for all styles AC DC Angus young Jimmy page jimi Hendrix slash and so on I guaranteed it because he was all time and all past and all present in all fasitts
Having a loft clear out the other day a come across British tour 1980 program from watching Rory at the Apollo Theatre I've seen some bands over the years but Rory was something else.
Brilliant as always Rory Danny Roy jeff Wes Gary Lenny and Scotty master class guitarists my favorite? All of them with Rory in my top 3 and tommy bolin also just great
Here’s a couple more great guitarists I forgot but should not have the incredible frank marino who has gone into jazz fusion blues smooth rock I really like his jazz fusion sort of reminds me of Alan holdsworth and the great junior brown along with Johnny hiland Alvin lee Jan Ackerman from focus and pat metheney plus bill frissell out of frisco there are many more great players out there I’m forgetting too many to list
I'm watching taste live at the isle of Wight This has to be the most riveting concerts of all time I think every artist of note No pun intended would stand and clap at this band's efforts
Your entitled to your opinion,, i heard jimi hendrix on acoustic and he was terrible,, put Rory on acoustic. Absolutely fantastic. In my opinion he was the best guitarist ever
Kind of remindfull of Johnny Winter on slide, but not quite enough understanding of the blues, too reaching for, but not getting it, like all the British...
