From the awfully specific dialogue and the fact scam bots for contests fly around YT and Twitter using the channels name in it's own name, I would say there have been an awful lot of people trying to hold this channel and others responsible for the scams they fell for. Either that, or said victims were just the scammers trying to get a second payday. Either or.

I actually got caught out on this scam, but from someone pretending to be working for a courier company that I was actually expecting to get a delivery from. That said, I was fast enough to realise what I had done and quickly called my bank to not just cancel my card, but also its account too. Then, and because I live in the UK I notified two organisations that work with law enforcement concerning cyber crime, and made sure my record was flagged for being compromised. And, whilst I was lucky not to have my money stolen, some scummy bastard tried to take out a car insurance under my name with him being a beneficiary or something like that. It got interesting when calling said insurance company and its underwriter about what has happened, and how this scummy bastard is trying to scam me. But, thanks to the organisations I was able to convince both of them that I was a victim of a scam and that the insurance policy got cancelled afterwards. My only hope was that the fucker burned his car after taking out the insurance, and then finding out that the policy is null and void.
I felt his pain at the end in my soul. My mother was dealing with a catfish scammer through Facebook a decade ago and I had to explain to a college educated, prior service, AIR FORCE, EOD technician woman the scan she was in. As if that wasn't enough she then good I'm to read to me the email she wrote up to respond to this con artist and I had to stop her again and say, "mother he's not going to read past the intro... Hell there's a75% chance it's a bot."

Sounds like one of my coworkers. They're convinced that an actress is going to leave their husband and marry him, yet they've never spoken a word to each other, only texts.
Interestingly, there was a _Law & Order_ episode about this. An old man is gifted a computer by his son, a well respected lawyer, so he can stay in touch. Not understanding cyber security, he falls for a terrible scam, and loses everything, bankrupt, destitute, lost his home. Well, this old man is a war veteran, too, and he didn't take kindly to the scammer blowing him off. Sooo.. he goes and shoots the little prickle-patch dead'er than a Librul's brain. When he's finally caught - and he doesn't really try to hide - his son tries to get the charges dropped or any kind of defense possible to spare him jail time. In the end, he confesses to the crime, proudly. I believe the DA cut him a deal, but he did lose his freedom.
It was going to be a no-win situation for everyone if it went to court. If the DA lost, public opinion would dictate law. If the old man lost, the public media and politicians would hound the DA's office looking for a head on a plate.
I'd take it to a jury. Law and Order was based in New York. So he may be screwed. But in a lot of places, it would be quite possible to get a sympathetic juror for justifiable homicide. Lol

Yeah...I report all those Telegram messages. Fortunately, the spam filter on my phone is pretty good, so those types of texts rarely get to me. Although, I wouldn't mind seeing Ricky and Roscoe teaming up on one of those folks if they found them. That might be entertaining.

Sad things is folks falling for variations of scams are not doing so just because they are idiots. Some folks are simply a little too trusting. I have known some rather intelligent people who almost got scammed. Thankfully they either realized before the scammers got any of their money, or, like with a cousin of mine, someone happened to make just the right comment that switched that light on for them.
Once got a call to my cell telling me to stop calling him. Try to explain “I have never called you, it is a scam using my number”. Nothing I can do, even took me 20 minutes to make my operator to understand and they could not do anything (except to check there was no calls from my number).
