I killed oodles of rosemary plants. Then oneday I bought one, put it in a pot and 100% neglected it. It is thriving ❤ Definitely a self sufficient plant.

Same. But my mother had a rosemary bush in her backyard that she didn’t care for at all, and it was the size of a Christmas tree. She lived in a semi arid area, so it got plenty of heat, plenty of sun, and little water.

I propagated quite a few rosemary plants last spring (NJ zone 7b), and was able to sell a few at a yard sale. I’m doing it again this year. Rosemary is wonderful on roasted potatoes that have been *lightly* coated with good olive oil!
@SpiceyKy
@SpiceyKy Месяц назад
Wait ✋️ How long did you nurture the plants before they were ready to sell?
@wayneu1233
@wayneu1233 Месяц назад
@@SpiceyKy I had the cuttings in water for about a month until the roots were well formed, then in organic potting soil for about four months before selling them. The only fertilizer I gave them was a little bit of worm tea every couple weeks. They were about 12” tall and nicely formed by the time I sold them.

goes very well in home baked breads too. The dried rosemary and flour is match made in heaven. Add in boiling water before putting pasta, remove it (or add in a pouch) and THEN add pasta. Makes it very flavorful

Rosemary has such a lovely aroma! Thank you for the tips! I have a tip to add, if you are in zone 9b, be careful where you plant a rosemary from the grocery store, ours is so big (about 4 ft high and 6 ft diameter) people are surprised it’s a rosemary. It’s in the middle of our garden because I thought it would keep bugs out 😂

Love rosemary! Thank you Angela for the tips on propagating and taking care of rosemary, I’ve planted a tiny Christmas tree shaped rosemary a few years ago that grew into a lovely shrub but with time got too much shade and soot from an aphid infested crepe Myrtle that was near by so eventually I had to cut both of them out; I planted two new rosemary plants on a different area of our garden about a month ago🤞🏼

I’ve had rosemary in pots for several years. I just repotted them. They’re flowering right now. I have some that grow outside and I live in the Pacific Northwest the western side. No problem I think it’s kind of like lavender but more hardy in my experience. Lavender I bring in to a little bit of it to my lil greenhouse..my rosemary is fine in the ground or in pots.. , i dont even cover Rosemary for a few months a year Rosemary is just beautiful. It just goes crazy. I just repotted them and they’re looking great flowering right after I reported them. They are just beautiful.

I have found most of my perennial herbs are happiest in something raised so they drain and dry out. I'm in NC. A big pot works for me. Half and half red clay and potting mix. Sits on the dirt, roots grow out the bottom, dries out enough to make me afraid they'll die but nope, my lavender has bloomed great since I did it. Good luck.

Angela I need your help. Is it safe to put mulch over soil before the seedlings sprout? I noticed you had some sprouts with Mulch, but I wasn't sure if you did that before they sprouted. I want to put mulch on because my self watering bed the top 3 inches isn't getting water , because the sun is heating up the dirt between 11am and 3pm. Can I? Also, I used the Self Water raised bed idea, from the Beginner gardening-Journey with Jill channel. Using a plastic liner and rock at the bottom. Filled with water. with a weed liner in the rocks, then soil. I have been topping off the water while it builds up the wicking, too. I just built the raised beds last week. Side note, my last name is Judd. I know there is 2 family lines Arizona. It would be fun to figure which one you belong too😊
@GrowingInTheGarden

Yes, I mulch lightly over the soil after planting - it helps hold the moisture in the soil so the seeds sprout.
