Bought 82 gsl 1 owner about 3 months ago. Drained tank, flushed, new filter, plugs, oiled inside when did plugs, fixed some bad wireing Just started really hitting it this weekend. New fuel pump and some lines fired up and idles nice . Now to clutch and brake master cylinders. Owned 84 gsl in the late 80s loved it. Had 2 others i think 81 and 82 basic in early 90s both had seen better days. This one looks to be another good one. Really appreciate your site! Thank you!
Dude thats awesome, i know you've probably got lots of cars running but when i first got my rx7 running i couldn't sleep the rest of the night i was so excited
Love the videos man, it's one of those things I hope is there when coming home from work . Lil Stu is most similar to my current situation- picked up 5 FBs all which have sat since latest 1995 . Have got two running and man do I know about the mouse smell and the smoking out the neighbourhood thing lol. Looking forward to the further diagnosis in running issues as you go on with it.
Well done brother. I mentioned my renesis engine to you a while back. It was rebuilt and me and my wife installed the engine. Actually we do all the work to the car. When we put the new engine in we deleted the omp. The engine is still running strong with no omp and only premix. It's at about 25k kilometers now. Just letting you know cause you said to keep you updated.
Its a win! Great to hear it and see your excitement man that coolant bit had me in stitches 😂👍 P.s couldn't belive how clean it was under the rear you would see straight to the sky here in uk
my brother has one like yours exactly same year what are couple things I can do to get running up again it was running good recently just the clutch fluid holder gave out so he replaced it n now it doesn't start can you give me few things that in might be the cause of it not starting
Do these cars run OK with a second fuel filter after the pump? I have a stock filter before the fuel pump and I've always wanted to install a second inline filter under the hood before the carb, but I know Nikki carbs can be kind of particular about fuel pressure. Wasn't sure if adding a filter on that soft line going into the carb would cause any problems.
It should not have any adverse effects You can install the filter and see how your car reacts. If it is a factor, you will mostly see a bog or hesitation after a long pull through the gears. The carb will be starving for fuel if the filter restricts
Awesome to see that thing starting up man! I’m planning on a build for a turbo 12a thinking about doing a 44b sniper efi with a bridge intake and race/street exhaust port. Do you think the Holley will work for it or should I go with a different carb?
These videos have been awesome. I’m going through the same thing. I bought a 85 last spring that has been sitting for the last 10 years. Mine has about 117,000 on the odometer. In your experience, how has the insides of the engines been?
Generally they are fine if you don't look at them ;) hahaha. Some engines have been in rough shape. Others are perfect. It's one of those things that's just a you will have to find out. 12a are usually super tough and run. The later 2mm apex seal engines tend to take more degradation from sitting
