Rotation and swing path and the balance between.

We need to know if we need more or less rotation to get the swing path we want. If we understand what we need to do we can get better.
Online lesson are now a possibility on Skillest: skillest.com/a...
Let me help you get an effortless golfswing with speed and accuracy. I call it the circle of speed. A good release will help you to a better impact and longer drives and irons without slice and hook. How to swing a golf club need to be adjusted to your skill level and experience.
Long and straight is the goal for everyone but it takes time. Try to focus on one thing not everything when you practise. Impact, face control and swingpath will always be the most important part to drill. We focus too much on rotation but no good golf shot will be executed just by rotating.
I’m naturally right handed but all my tips works for both left handed and right handed golfers.
We also need to understand that many myths in golf are misleading. Everything that you find on the internet isn’t true. Ben Hogan, Sam Snead are two of legends that are often misunderstood.
We shall not keep our head still, only start with the hips, look only at the ball or keep the left or right arm straight.
If you use callaway, ping, titleist or taylor made clubs doesn’t matter you can learn to hit good golf shots. Your loft or your shaft on the club will not change but you can always get better.
Find what inspires you. Golf basics are the same for everyone. The pga tour, longdrivers or other good golfers can all help you find better golf shots. Watch what they do instead of listed to what they say. Listen mostly to your body and figure out what you need to do to produce the same results as the pros on TV. Be careful when you watch a golf swing in slow motion. The result isn't always what the golfer is trying to do. Feel and real are seldom the same.
Mike Malaska, Mike Austin, Mike Dunaway, Pete Cowen and Steve Pratt are some of my favorite golf instructors online. Find the tips that make your golf better. Decide what you want to hit. I teach a draw but many like a fade and nobody likes a hook or slice.
Your hips or your lag is not the key to golf. Your hands will decide the shot and you can do like Tiger Woods and trust your hands. Teach your hands to hit different shots. Hit big hooks and slices to understand what happens. Only straight is not gonna teach you anything.
Bryson Dechambeu and Kyle Birkshire can inspire you to hit it longer. Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson can give you inspiration and motivation to test new things and new golf shots. Linn Grant, Viktor Hovland and Ludvig Aberg can show you the future of golf.
The Masters, Players Championship, The Players, The Open and US Open can make you love golf even more. See the best in the world solve all the problems we all need to master any golf course. Golf is a craft and you need fantasy, feel and skills to master it.

Marcus, I’ve been hitting it great with your videos. The other day I played in a tournament and the 1st day I played great - the second day I played bad, but it was a mental choke. I couldn’t “release early, swing up from inside” under pressure, probably cause it was new in my brain and the guy I played was scratch. So now I’m gonna work on mental things so next time I can deliver your methods under pressure. But, do you have any thoughts on the mental side? Thank you as always.

Thank you, Michael. I'm glad you find value in my videos. The mental side is interesting. Everyone is different and react differently on the golf course. Myself I need to be twice as good in practice to expect it to work on the golf course. Maybe that's a good video subject. 👍

More top notch advice. I love your idea of exaggerating the errors. Something I tried recently was facing forward to hit golf balls (like in your circle of speed video) then gradually turning sideways and really paying attention to my hand path relative to target line. Then I hit some balls while intentionally keeping my back facing the target as long as possible and that REALLY helped me understand rotation. Baseball always made me instinctively turn my shoulders very early but hitting a golf ball you want to stay focused on that hand path while staying turned away a little longer. To me, it felt like the momentum of the club and arms pulls me into rotation anyway. You just need to worry about balancing then.

Oh I do understand but, bad habits die hard, I’ve been battling rotational tempo ( to fast )for a long time. My hip rotation is so fast, it beats the trailing elbow, resulting in the butt of the club pointing forward and again resulting in slices. Your clear explanation in regards to arm movement and tempo, gives me a good direction towards taming my slice. Thank you very much and keep up the good work.

Hey Marcus, when I watch your swing I notice that at the top of your backswing your shoulders are relatively flat. Meaning if you put a 10 ft. piece of pipe across them it would point out in front of you maybe 5-6 ft. Maybe a little flatter then most but pretty common. But what really stuck out and could be a very important point is that on your downswing they stay/rotate flat until your hands are about thigh level. My thinking is by keeping your shoulders flatter a little longer it does three things. It helps you hit from the inside, it flattens out your swing bottom and it slows down your hips. I Hope I explained what I noticed and I’m curious if this make any sense. Thanks for your videos I start every day with the newest one and a cup of coffee. JS
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad 10 месяцев назад
Hi. That is the definition of a two plan swing. The difference between shoulder plane and swing plane. You are correct and I don't "keep" them from moving but I have learned to start with a downswing without to much shoulder movement. Enjoy your coffee 😁

This is interesting and something I battle. To do this I have to feel my rear shoulder does not move at all until my arms are down. On the golf course that is a battle because I want to see where the ball is going so fast. haha. Trying to break that habit. That looking up frees my shoulders to rotate to quickly. On the backswing however I have to rotate right away or I sway. Weird. I will be on Skillest soon. I know you can help.

would you consider doing a video on YOUR follow thru and why your club goes more vertically down your back and not more horizontally across the back of your head like some other pros? Just wondering what in the swing would make such 2 different follow-thrus. I want my club to go vertically down my back, more like yours, as it is less strain on my back. But my club always goes across the back of my head on the end of the follow thru and I want to change that. IF I understand why, it would help me change it. Thanks so much.
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad

I will try to figure out what causes this movement and see if that can become a video. Promise. 😊
@dogloverjb6873
@dogloverjb6873 8 месяцев назад
I figured out why....you come from the inside more than I do on the forward swing. Before I was swinging my club around too much to the left on the forward swing ( being a right-hander), and the club shaft would horizontally dissect the back of my head. As soon as I started swinging more from the inside, my club finished more vertically. It's great, because that gives me feedback if I came in from the inside enough. Not to mention the ball path has a nice draw.

Good day to you Marcus.. is truly the perfect “ timing “ for this video 😅 I just played 18 yesterday. And this is exactly what my friend said I was doing after the round. He said as you are starting down your shoulders were open up towards the target to soon. I was smother hooking the ball for most of the round. No slices just hooks. As a fix, should I feel the arms and hands and club more out in front and just allow the shoulders to react then?? Thank you as always for your channel 🙏🏼👊🏻
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad 10 месяцев назад
We need to find and give your down swing time to bring the club further down before you start rotation. Probably like you write, let the rotation follow your club. That will help you to go more out through the ball and find that high finish that will eliminate the hook. Try to feel that the club head goes under your hands in to the ball and over your hands out of the ball.

Hi Marcus. I'm going to the practice range today and intend to try practice your tips for your inside out swing . My son has given me an alignment stick to swing with my irons as I have a problem with flipping my hands instead of releasing properly. Would that work with your swing ?
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad 10 месяцев назад
Hi Pete. If you put the stick 4 inches behind the ball you will be forced to go over the stick in to the ball and that works as a drill. The flip is never the problem but if we do the flip to early it becomes a problem. The stick will force you to delay the flip.

Hi Marcus, am I correct in assuming, then, that with an In-to-Out Swing Path like yours (5 to 10 degrees), your ideal Club Face is open at impact? If the rotation takes over properly, you come around and the ball starts left (in your case) and then turns right with a Draw? Is that the ideal pattern i.e. In-to-Out Club Path, but open Club Face? Thanks and keep the great videos coming!!

Love your simple approach Marcus. I am curious however that it seems you advocate to take the hands inside on the takeaway? Also, isn’t a 7+ in to out path excessive? I was under the impression most pros are +/-2 or thereabouts. I find when I start swinging too far from the inside my hands trail behind me and I hit pushes and hooks. Thank you for the great content!

Thanks. Good video as usual. You will see my swing on skillest soon. Now to my question. I have the feeling to your shoulder set-up is different when you do your normal swing and try to play a fate. Can you explain how to load the shoulders for a draw vs a fate. Pete Cowen is talking about that, but never explains how to actually do it. He just says, that loading shoulders is not taught these days. A related question, which is probably better suited for a psychologist. When I do simulator training my swing path is inside-out on the range like 95%. Then I play simulator golf on the course and I am back to outside in. Not even on the simulator I can keep inside out from range to course 😞 wtf!
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad 10 месяцев назад
Maybe I will do a difference between fade and draw in the future, maybe. The other problem is normal. If you want to be inside five degrees playing golf you need to be more than ten degrees inside in practice. That's what I see with my students, we tense up on the course and we loose timing and path.

I'm afraid that I think your methods apply to those who have your strength in arms and shoulders. My attempt to follow your method as a very elderly person has resulted in my maximum driving distance has gone from just 200 yards to less than 170. I am hitting it straight or with draw, never with a slice. You hit the ball 400 yards, its a very different world.

There will always be some strength needed and if we lack strength in the parts we need to use it's not the best for that golfer. How the timing is working is the same for all golfers but of course, we need a functional engine and gearbox to make the car go forward.
