Hey Riders, here is a new version of the starter guide for the new Rouvy app. I will be making this video in parts to keep the video at a reasonable length. Hopefully this video will help you get up to speed quick and get riding as quick as possible. Any questions or comments please add them in the comment section below, I will answer all of them. Hopefully there will be a bunch of questions that I can answer in a Q&A video.

Thank you. Your videos are very helpfull for a Rouvy beginner like me. I hooked everything up and am happy to train indoors in front of my TV. Greetings from Switzerland.

I love Rouvy, signed up 3 weeks ago and already logged 350 miles. Had an old Saris fluid trainer, got a Wahoo Kickr Core a week ago and love it. Night and day difference, real world power simulation. Cadence is built in too.

Thank you for making these! I’m thinking about jumping over from Zwift. I like Zwift, but I like the options more on Rouvy from what I see.

Hi Myles, Zwift is a good platform, but Rouvy offers way more cool routes, so many of the great climbs. I switched after 3.5 years on Zwift, coming up 3 years on Rouvy now. Do the trial, ride some of the really cool climbs, do some group rides, races, workouts. It is all there.

8:36 Bottom row, what are those white numbered cyclist and what about other different colors mean on same route line? Just started, with semi smart trainer, power meter only, cheap alternative, specially if not sure if liking this thing at all. This might be my thing for winter, but most likely not yet add more smartness to my trainer setup. Fun often means expensive, but if hobby..... hmmm 💸💸💸 😁

Hi James and welcome aboard Rouvy. The white cyclists symbol that you see on the route profile just indicates when there is more than one cyclist at that approximate location, basically a group of 2 or more riders. The colours(green, yellow, red, blue etc) just indicate a single rider and if you look carefully on the "Nearby" riders on the left side of the screen you can see that those individual riders have a coloured circle next to their name. Nothing wrong with the way you are starting out, Rouvy will calculate a speed based on your power meter readings. What you will be missing without a smart trainer is the hills and rolls of the course. Rouvy will communicate with your smart trainer and adjust resistance accordingly. Please drop more questions here I am happy to answer as best that I can. I will drop the next part of the series today.

Hello, great video thank you! could you tell me if the cyclists that we see in the list on the left of the screen are people connected and doing the route at the same time as us at this very moment, or are they virtual people or a recording of people who have already done it before? THANKS
@slickdusud
@slickdusud 7 месяцев назад
Another question could you also tell me if when we accelerate on our home trainer the image also accelerates? In the image, is it possible to catch up and overtake (or be overtaken lol) other people? I thought I read somewhere that nothing happened in the image when you accelerated.. Thank you !

Hi, thanks for your comments. To answer your question Yes.....the people in the leaderboard are live riders who just happen to be doing that route at the same time as you. Obviously some will be ahead and some may join behind you. I will point out that you can select Virtual Partners to ride with.....think of these as riding friends/pacers who will show up in the leaderboard as well. Those will be a recording of a previous ride by a real person. You could use multiple versions of the same person, like yourself if you are trying to beat your own personal record. So for virtual partners, YOU, have to turn them on before the ride. If you lose track of who is "live" you will notice that some of the names do not have a Level beside them.......those are the recorded virtual partners. You can also turn on Ghost Riders who will ride at your own pace, before on mid-ride. A "Paced" ride will be the only one you jump into that will have a bot rider pacing the ride. Everyone else is real Hope that helps

@@insidecyclingworld thank you very much for your answers and for your very informative videos! it helps a lot ! I just watched part 2 of this video which also provided a lot of answers to my questions. One last thing, how are the descents managed? is this realistic, speed, braking before turns, trajectories, etc.?

Nice video. No on screen HR display?
@insidecyclingworld
@insidecyclingworld 7 месяцев назад
Hey thanks for dropping in. Yes there is on screen Heart Rate display....it will appear right under the power output in the top left hand corner of the screen. The reason you don't see it in this video is because I am watching other riders and for privacy issues it is always invisible. If you catch a video where I am racing or doing an exploration ride you will see mine. Hope that helps

Thanks for this. I have a dumb trainer with power meter pedals. I'm considering signing up for Rouvy. Do you know how the in ride experience will be when I ride on from flat to uphill? Zwift slows the avatar down if I keep power constant in that scenario. Does Rouvy do the same? Thanks
@insidecyclingworld
@insidecyclingworld 10 месяцев назад
Yes it should be just the same as Zwift. With power meter pedals it will take your power data, body weight and then calculate a speed depending on the gradient of the course. Best way to find out if you like it and ensure it all works the way you want is to jump on a do the trial. New users get a 14 day free trial, so jump on and ride as much as you can to experience everything.
@RealMTBAddict

A dumb trainer will not provide the same experience as a smart trainer, not even close.
@insidecyclingworld
@insidecyclingworld 9 месяцев назад
Agreed 100%, Ideally a smart trainer is the way to go if you want a realistic simulation of the gradients. The best dumb trainers can do is take your power output and try to calculate a speed.@@RealMTBAddict

Using Wahoo Kickr and Apple TV, I have been unable to connect both Wahoo cadence and heart rate at same time. In other words, I would like to be able to see my cadence and heart rate while I ride. Any suggestions?
@insidecyclingworld
@insidecyclingworld 7 месяцев назад
Hey, sorry I thought I responded to this earlier. Is your Kickr a newer model, some of the older ones didnt do cadence. For your AppleTV it needs to be connected via Bluetooth, does not work with ANT+. Please message if you need more help
@stevenrochell6142
@stevenrochell6142 7 месяцев назад
Thanks for your reply. I found there is a limit of two connected sensors in ROUVY app on AppleTV. So, you can connect trainer+cadence sensor or trainer + HRM. I have an older 2017 Wahoo Kicker.

Glad you got my message. I was away in Vegas and was replying on my phone and several times I have seen messages just vanish. Glad you got it figured out. There are lots of riders in our Discord who know way more than me about using Kickr/AppleTv, feel free to drop by for help@@stevenrochell6142

@@insidecyclingworld I was asking since the Bkool or Zwift the slopes are simulated with the force of the simulator. In Rouvy, how is this resistance simulated? Or one achieves it by raising or lowering gears.
@insidecyclingworld
@insidecyclingworld 10 месяцев назад
@@rafaelperezfranco1497 Yes the hills and all the gradients are simulated by the trainer. The software talks to your software so when you see a hill going up on screen in the Rouvy app, your smart trainer will increase resistance accordingly. Trust me you will feel of all of the hills with the right smart trainer

@@rafaelperezfranco1497 No problem, as resistance increases on the climbs you can switch your gears to keep your cadence up similar to Zwift. Big difference is that it is all video. Tons of awesome climbs that you can't find on Zwift. Try the trial out, you wont regret it.
