From stationary on slip road onto M/Way - we thought we'd see how long it took an old classic P6 to get up to the m/way speed limit. The answer can be seen in this video!! (ie about 15 seconds)
The Rover V8 engine has been fitted to numerous cars over the 3 decades it was produced including the P5 P6 SD1 Landrover Rangerover TVR and it seems the list is endless!
What a great engine and what performance.
In this case its powering a car getting on for 2 tonnes at a decent acceleration. (indeed with a bit of wheel spin but alas no burnout !) Its a totally standard engine. The only difference from the original spec is a 5 speed gearbox instead of the original 4 speed.
Blimey on the day of placing I got an honor!! It'll disappear soon so here is the proof!

Bonnet release is below sterring wheel in the glove box. If its been standing that long get a mechanically minded person to look at the engine before even thinking of starting. Plenty of spares available - join a R0ver classic club

I woul love installing Rover Vitesse 3500 DUAL PORT V8 200 HP! Might sound even better than your (nice sounding!) original. The Vitesse V8 has some kind of TURBO SOUND made by the different Gear Driven Camshaft --love that howling sound!

It's a 3528cc (215 cubic inch) V8, originally a Buick engine, but Rover purchased the rights to it in the late 60's, I think...

It's at the front! :-) I am not a mechanic or an expert - I can change perts when they don't work. If it ever needed a rebuild - then I'm afraid it would be handed to someone better able than me.

Nope, that was when the P6 2000 came out - the V8 arrived in 1961 (as the Buick version), but was ditched in 1963. GM were persuaded to sell the rights, tooling, etc in early 1965.

Hey I just found a P6 2000 abandoned in a garage. Its had all the windows smashed in, and judging by the newspapers its been there for about 15-20 years. This might sound stupid, but even my dad couldnt find the bonnet release. I want to restore it, its sad seeing such a great car go to waste. Any tips/help on where the bonnet release is, and how to start it without a key?

15 seconds is what my 300SD 0-60 time and its a 3.0 5 cylinder turbodiesel... What's the engine displacement???

0-74 in 15 seconds is bloody awful!!!!! - these cars were built in the 70's back then it was blood good - I have a P6 V8 in the garage and its the sound that's all you need. :-)
