Well another surprise - they did both the CVT for the Cabriolet and Tourer for a short time. I have seen one Cab CVT at POL and there is a Tourer CVT in portugal that found my channel when building up Beatrix. Rare but out there!
What a great video Andrew. So interesting to see this. A great example too with excellent paint and a particularly attractive interior although I agree that the later dash is not so nice as the earlier Honda derived one.
Great video. Did not realise you could get a 216 coupe. There is a 220 coupe in my street same colour. looks great. I kind of always wanted the turbo. I personally had a 216gsi back in the day (with a gti kit on), gun metal grey.
This car was great in 1990s but had a loooot of problems. Lot of people bought it back the in my country, but if you ask them about the will tell you stories only about problems! I am talking about 214 and 216 sold in Greece.
Loved these I the day. Always wanted one. Brother in law had one and tbf had no respect for anything so car was tret badly. Dash would have looked so much better with nicer wood inserts instead of the cheap looking plastic. Still a modern classic and can't remember the last rime I seen one. Sure they were nicknamed the rover tomcat.....the turbo one
First time I have sern a CVT on a Rover! If you change the transmission oil at 50000miles (and it's filter) and drive it fully autp - it should lsst and do ove 100k miles!!
