They told her it was worthless.
THIS is a one owner, Disco 1 purchased new in RVA in 1996. I went to view the truck as it was posted for sale with limited details and met its lovely owner JoAnne. After hearing the backstory on the truck, I asked her if she really wanted to sell it since it was clear that she still loved it, she said she did but was told by other shops that it was unsafe to drive and worth scrap.
This obviously wasn’t the case. We exchanged information and I delivered the D1 to @sportscar_workshops for a once over and some diag, it drove beautifully. These trucks are sublime in original stock form. A video will go live this week with a walk through of the current condition! ✌🏻
I like when people like and are passionate about things. Sometimes, conversation is worth than a chance to make a couple bucks.

never seen a disco 1 with a powered Aerial from stock. They usually just get stuck.. nice of you to help a lady out. Don't see many disco ones on the road by me nowadays.

Good for you guys! I wish I had some D1 parts to send over to the cause. I live in a retirement community called Florida (joke). All of my neighbors are senior citizens and nothing makes me happier than to help out when needed.

Someone put power steering fluid instead of atf in the steering fluid receptacle. When you do that, they leak like a sieve. People don’t know any better. When you slowly replace with atf while the power steering fluid leaks out it magically slowly stops leaking. (Not completely of course). LR killed the fender antenna after 96. The 97s have them in the glass and don’t get as good reception. The fender ones always get bent and broken by trees. Also between 96/97 they went with a different style lock pull design. Strange thing to change. I’m glad one escaped being monster-trucked out. Land Rover did an amazeball job with the basic stock vehicle.

Also, that truck is so unmolested and original it’d be worth it to find an OG Land Rover-Pioneer head unit that has a code off of eBay.

this should make great content 👍…I have a 1998 D1 nearly identical to that one…I’m owner #5. 150K no rust (self oiling system) runs great.

That will be a nice story and a you will make the car nice again for not much $. Good for you. If you know a DIY wrecker (I think you do) with Discos you can find all the little interior trim bits and tidy it up easily. 👍

That is in pretty good condition for Land Rover anyway Land Rover discovery are nice cars if you’re well looked after I prefer range rovers myself but that’s my opinion. Sounds nice as well. You seem pretty good condition for 1987 anyway under 4 L V8. 😅😅😅😅

That’s why people do when they go to buy things they look at them and when the people are not looking they pull things off so we get them cheaper as I know from experience some amount powered up you can get the electricals for them TLC 10 living care then you’ll be alright Where on the age of the vehicle? 😅😅😅😅

@@AddictedMotors I replaced that as well as all the tie rod ends. getting new tires and an alignment this week hopefully that does the trick or i will look at the preload. Love the info on your channel,keep up the good work.

@@AddictedMotors after replacing the tires and the panhard bushings the problem decreased by 90%. I still get vibration at about 55mph. Do you think it could be play in the front driveshaft?
