Your podcast is my favorite- Thanks for letting us join you!Love your honesty and “wit”! Take care, Erin I usually pull from the inside when I know I’ll use the whole ball (ie sweater) so it doesn’t roll around.
That is art.....and when I love something. They are my baby's. I hope people will understand the work and talent in any project. It's not a craft. It's artistic. Talent.
I have had many issues with different patterns and contacted the designers. Most of them will get back to you very promptly. Sometimes they point out that I can’t read but many times they have to explain what the heck they have written. Hope that helps. You two are my very favorite podcast. Love, love you both.
make the half and half's. you love them so they will go much faster and you will enjoy it. they are so versatile. if the recipients aren't shawl/wrap people they make great blankets.
Just wanted to tell you both how much I continue to enjoy your podcast, been watching you since very early on. Leslie, I wanted to tell you that there is an awesome “poncho” out there called Moduloncho by Shana S. Cohen. I think it might be an excellent option for you to consider, but I’m also all for making the wraps you love so much. Please just be careful not to injure yourself with so much knitting- those half/half wraps are huge!!!
thanks for another great podcast. I just got home and I'm catching up on my favourites and yours is the first one I watched. I think Michelle and I have the same Birthday May 16. Happy birthday.
I love the vintage rose planned pooling colorway. The technique sounds like fun and looks beautiful. I'm always losing crochet hooks (in my house, in project bags etc...) You must do a good job of keeping track of yours! Michelle, I began a Romi Hill design after seeing your project and looking her up. It's the Thornbush and the instructions are ok. There was one point where I had to just do what she said, even if I didn't understand why I was picking up and knitting in that direction, but I followed what she said and it worked. I'm loving the way the project is coming out. Yours looks really pretty!
I always get my sock yarn from littleknits! I knit a lot of basic socks for family and friends. Always enjoy your podcast, you two are very entertaining 👍🏻!
I always love listening because I have all of the same feelings. Leslie, the half and half will be so soothing for you and they will get them when yo are done. I just feel like you definitely could use some comfort. Thanks to you both for sharing your time.
Have to say...I love A Chick that Knitz yarn. I just bought a sock set from her. Such fun colors. The main skein wasn't named but the mini was Fuchsia. Love you guys. It was great being entertained for over 2 hours.😊TerrieDeer ❤
Leslie, scrap the shawl you’re working on. Use that combination of yarn on another shawl because it’s a GORGEOUS combination! Then, go to your shawls that you’ve already made and decide which ones you would be willing to part with. Offer one or both to your daughter for the people she’s thinking of to gift. I’m wrapped in a ‘half and half’ made from Rowan Felted Tweed. It’s HUGE because I used the Rowan and cast on the small size. I’m actually considering casting one on in the large size again in the Rowan. So my vote would be for two ‘half and half’ in the same size you made in Linen Quill. Think of the opening like a keyhole scarf. If the opening is wide enough, it will fit over the the head. I made mine in about a week and a half. I’m hoping after this episode that a viewer has offered to knit the half and half as soon as you send the yarn. I’m so sorry to say that’s not me! I wish it was!!
I love her flower and sparkling heart stitch markers! Prayers for your families. I love you two. I started following you a while ago. I remember lying in bed with headphones and giggling away and my husband always wondered what I was watching. I've lost him to cancer now, but I still giggle along with my bittersweet memories of him by my side. Love your views out the window. Love to see all the latest pretty things you aquire. Thanks so much for all the fun giveaways and the entertainment!❣❣❣❣❣❣
That assigned pooling is so interesting to me. I’ve looked at the yarn and patterns. Would love to try it. I was surprised to hear that you don’t have cicadas there. I thought they were everywhere. Gets noisy around August here in PA!
I've looked at the site for those fancy hooks, there are so many choices that it is almost overwhelming!! I would have trouble making all the different choices too without seeing exactly what I was going to get! You two crack me up with your banter LOL Love listening to it! Blessings to you and yours.
I love your idea of you using a bag then if you are bored with it, give it away on your podcast. Then another person can give it some love. Beautiful bags.
Michelle, instead of the months of the year song, just use your knuckles! 🙂 Squeeze your fingers together as if to punch, but palm down. First knuckle (January) is high, so has 31 days. Second knuckle (February) is low. Third knuckle (March) is high, so has 31 days. And so on. When you get to your pinky knuckle (July) go back to first knuckle (August). All high knuckles have 31 days!
Leslie, I looked at your poncho pattern on ravelry and I didn't see anyone's finished project that looked very big. I think you should just do 2 half and half wraps starting asap. That way you will enjoy it and no additional stress. Plus I think it makes a more versatile gift.
Leslie, I agree with another post… your daughter would not want you to be stressed about the ponchos, I am sure there could be another gift. It sounds like you have too much on your plate right now.💕 I love so many of The Chick That Knitz yarns… but would looove a sweater made in her Sable colorway! I am wanting to try the controlled pooling in a shawl!
Recommend Laurel Hill wooden hooks. Expensive, but all I use. I love the feel of the wood in my hands. Take care, girls. Your comments on growing older kinda hit home, I imagine it did for a lot of your viewers. So you have company.
Leslie you might like to look at Jaja shrug. It’s on Ravelry and can be worn several ways. It should be a quick knit. Let your daughter see it and let you know what she thinks 🤞🏻
Michelle, to figure out how many days in a month, count on your knuckles and the dip between. January starts on a knuckle (31), February a dip (28) March a knuckle 31, and so in. When you run out of knuckles, start over. So July is the last knuckle, August begins another rotation. So basically they alternate, except for July and August are back to back 31 days.
🎉yay your back! I can honestly say after searching you tube there a some great channels out there but none compare to you two wonderfully funny ladies. You have been missed. I also am caught up from your row 1😅... ZEN and ELG are awesome! They seem very antique Americana. So happy surgery and recovery are going well, prayers work!
I just gave my husband my birthday wish list from A Chick that Knitz. Love Paris garden and the daisy stitch marks. Leslie weddings are stressful. Knit something relaxing. Enjoy all your opinions.
Haha... Yes, Cicadas!!! LOL!! I've lived in NY my whole life, so I don't even notice them anymore. When my husband moved from Ca to NY, he was horrified by the sound, because he couldn't "SEE" them. LOL! He's been here 16 years and will still comment on them EVERY year!
So I finally did it! I have been wanting to try the Linen Quill yarn because Leslie has ranted and raved about it so much. I loved the colors shown on this episode and I bought them!! They were also on sale this weekend! Bonus! So, half and half wrap will be on my needles soon!! As always, thank you ladies for making me laugh. And please continue sharing your true thoughts on products!!
Great video ladies! I always enjoy seeing the chickens in the background. Love the Country Rose and Liberty Blue yarn color way from the Chickz that knit Etsy page.
As you may (or not) remember I moved to Arkansas last year. OMG we have Cicadas, oh boy do we have Cicadas! They are sooooooo loud! AND we have frogs! There are so many sounds at night, you’d think we lived in a jungle! But we also have such a wide aridity of beautifully colored birds during the day (again insert jungle sounds). Ladies what about crocheting the rectangle granny blanket so you get your length without having to make is so wide? Question: Have either of you ever thought of crocheting garments? Check out Bonnie Bay Crochet, she has beautiful patterns. Thanks for a fun podcast. 💙
I just went on A Chick That Knits site and her yarn is beautiful! I fell in love with the Summer Skies yarn. The blues is absolutely beautiful. I love checking out the different yarn dyers that you talk about.
I love the yarn Cougar, such a e lavender! You guys are fantastic, thank you for taking the time to sit and do the podcast, this is my entertainment ❤️
I so love you ladies! Michelle, I just had that experience with a pattern. It's the Radish top by Rowan. Tried 3 different times following the increases for the armhole. It is knitted side to side. I was getting row qauge but sheesh, just wasn't clear at all! Leslie, go with the half and half wraps. You love it so much! Thanks for making 3 days on the treadmill fun. Side note: pretty sure the people at the gym think I'm on something as I literally laugh out loud while watching. Oh and I love those assigned pooling from A Chick that Knits. I think it's Garden Cottage I like so much. Just trying hard to NOT buy yarn as we are trying to downsize. Have a super few weeks.
Love watching your chickens pass behind you. Here in the middle of nowhere Tennessee we have cicadas that get so loud it scares my dog and she doesn’t want to go out. Love all the beautiful yarn, wish I could afford all of it. Of course I have enough now to knit for the next twenty years.
Michelle, I love your Mesa wrap! The colors you are using are beautiful together! I love the vintage rose from a chick that knitz and also the new beginnings mini set. My question for you all is "Do you have a favorite skein in your stash?" And Leslie, my suggestion for the ponchos is to just crochet a rectangle and sew up part of one side when folded in half. It would be faster since you are enjoying your blanket so much and just as beautiful!
If your blanket is wide enough now but you want it longer, you could switch to going back and forth along the top and bottom edge to make it longer. If your poncho is only taking 2 skeins, and a half and half wrap takes 5+ then there's no way you're going to be happy with the poncho size when it's finished. I love the idea of the crochet square for the Row One minis. I canceled my subscription because I have quite a stash and wasn't using them, but I think I could actually do that. It's neat to keep the dyers grouped together like that too. I agree with you about Devon's hand balms. They are so nice, they last, and it's not greasy. I think I'll have to get every scent she comes out with.
So I was thinking about converting the 1/2 &1/2 wrap into a poncho , I would knit the1st half then start as usual with the 2nd half, but then for a section continue to knit without attaching it to 1st half then when the gap is big enough start the attaching again. Now I must confess I have started one of these but am yet to finish but I'm my mind it works!! BTW you two are so good together, I always come away from your podcast happy xxxxxx
Sorry to hear all what has happened to you Leslie and your daughter. You have so much on your plate right now. In 10 weeks it will all be memories. Try to enjoy the journey. Keep things simple. It is the thought that counts. As far as your shawl goes, don't be afraid to contact the designer for clarity. They will be happy to help you. You don't need more stress at this point. Praying all works out for the best. Love you guys and your podcast. Big hugs.
Went to Achickthatknits site and love her Deluxe Sparkle collection. Butterfly stitch markers are darling. So much. Would love to try assigned pooling. Interesting concept. The noisy bug is a cicada (long a). 😊
The bugs are cicadas. I'm from Missouri and some years they get really loud. But you get so used to them, they become a kind of white noise. The problem is that some years three different kinds hatch at the same time. And they like, dive bomb you when you go outside. I have almost had accidents cause they fly in through open car windows. Yikes!!!
Leslie, you said you didn't know what the lyrics of the song 'Landslide' meant. Here's one persons explanation: 'Losing someone who you love, who is the center of your soul, is indeed a landslide, and I think Stevie understood this very well. Your heart either breaks, or freezes. Freezing hurts less, so you take your love down. Or you learn to take the pain, and sail through the changing ocean tides. And try to survive.' And you're right, this is a beautiful song. Takes me back, way back to those years of being much younger. Stevie Nicks is a fav of mine.🤗💕
Leslie, here's an idea. Knit a rectangle that is about 20" wide, and 60" long. Once you bind off fold in half, short ends together. Take one of those butterfly hairclips that are about 1 and a half inches wide and clip the butterfly clip about 12 inches (can be whatever size opening you want) out from the fold so that it creates a neck opening. Voila, a poncho! Take one of your own rectangle shawls and try it out. This is my favorite style of poncho, and it also converts to a shawl, whatever. The clips are fun, and you can buy a pack of really cute ones on Amazon. Also this makes a very quick and easy project. Pick a drapey yarn and it will be perfect! You can make 2 in the time it takes you to make a half and half.
Leslie…if you don’t have time for 2 half & half’s take a look at Right Around The Corner by Lisa Hannes. It’s a triangle shawl that looks like a quick knit….it’s on my ‘to do list’.
You’ve made me excited to get some yarn from A Chick That Knits and make a sweater for my young granddaughters with the intentional pooling. That would be so sweet!
Oh my gosh! I won the “innie” prize! What a delightful surprise!! Sending an email! PS: My main complaint about pulling from the outside is that the ball runs away all over the place, so your gadget that spins may win me over…
I do the same thing when I make something for someone where I wonder about the colors and the feels and think they won't like it, and man, if someone crocheted me a blanket, or a shawl/wrap, etc. I would LOVE it regardless of all that!! I like to think my family members will just appreciate the fact that I handmade something for them ... and if they don't, at least I enjoyed making them something and it was given to them from my heart and I can just THINK they appreciate it! lol Also, I appreciate the honest reviews of everything ... like you said, some people like a strong fragrance and some don't. Bam! And for the record I think you both have great hair!
Another great video. Leslie I personally think no matter what you gift them will be fine and if they have any manners whatsoever, they’ll accept it graciously. I’m not a selfish knitter since I only have one pair of socks and a cotton pullover that I knitted 30 years ago. I give everything away. From sweaters to friends and family, to socks that I knit for my fellow chemo clinic patients and to homeless people I see on the street in winter. Michelle you didn’t tell Michael that you didn’t know that he wanted the socks to match. Lol. I had to put my knitting down because I keep dropping too many stitches because you both keep my laughing so much which I’m sure I’m not the only that you both make very happy. Happy knitting. PS I love when Michelle said she doesn’t need the weighing thing explained to her because she doesn’t really care. I couldn’t agree more. 😂😂🧶
When I first started watching videos like yours i was baffled by the knit worthy phrase. Completely understand it now. Theres been a few folks removed from the list. Lol!
Leslie, your crochet blanket is absolutely gorgeous!! Micchelle, I love what you are doing with your minis and the crochet squares and they will make a beautiful blanket when all done. I love the colorway Vintage rose by a chick that knitz. I am so happy to hear that you and your daughter are doing well after both of your accidents. I for one love totally enjoy the longer podcast 🙂
I Love the long episode! I watched and paused all day 😂 and I knit quite a bit on my daughters socks today. Anyways, I just wanted to drop a comment and say that I have been in a knitting funk for a few years now, but I always pop in and watch your podcast. It always cracks me up. Hopefully I’ll start knitting more often. Todays episode has me wanting to buy new yarn 😂 And Leslie, I’m so glad your daughter is okay and healing. 💗
Thanks so much for the entertaining podcast. I always enjoy watching you both and your honest feedback. I love Michelle that you can vent with us - that’s what knitting friends are for. I’m sorry about your wreck Leslie and all the stress of the ponchos. You’re the boss of your knitting, so knit what you want - it’s not selfish. 💕
Leslie, regarding your beautiful crochet blanket - I crocheted mine in the granny square pattern until I got to the width I wanted and then transitioned to a granny stripe - and whatever color I did on the next “top” row was the color I did on the next “bottom” row - if that makes any sense at all ;)
Hi this is the first time I have watched you both ,glad I had time on my hands and some crochet to do while watching 😂I’m from England on the south coast just outside the city of Brighton.loved watching and continue to do so ,will catch up on past podcasts.I’m going to listen to a bit of fleetwood Mac now xx
If you think you can bang out two half 'n half shawls, then go for it. Maybe knit them at a looser gauge, on a bigger needle to make them grow faster ?? Or just talk with your daughter and let her know how stressed you are over these ponchos. You have enough going on to worry about ponchos. I absolutely love the Chick that Knitz Turtledove. :)
Leslie I just bought a skein of that Bamboo pop yarn at my LYS! It came with a pattern for a cowl that you knit in the round and when you come to the thick part you purl just that part of the yarn. It’s super cute. Will have to find the name of it and let you know. Thanks for the long episode! I love listening to y’all talk!
