If you read Piper's book you would know that when he says he "feels like a box of fluffy ducks" that is means he feels good due to taking some kind of substance.
between Hogan and Roddy, I think the real winner was Roddy, much nicer personality, great family, defeated cancer, has great kids ( one is becoming an MMA fighter ) nice modest house up in the hills, more hair, and made more friends and earned more respect from his fellow wrestlers
Carpenter: "Roddy, You got bullets across your chest, you got sunglasses on, you got a shotgun, you're goin' in a bank you're not gonna rob it. Say something!"
Great interview! Roddy is always entertaining. I was fortunate enough to see They Live when it came out in theaters. That fight scene blew me away and has always stuck in my memory.
Roddy Piper, Roderick Toombs of Saskatoon, is a great man. He is a family man, a Christian, a man of honor, and I'm glad he's still with us. When God takes him away from us, hopefully not for many years to come, his memory will live on. He was a better wrestler than Hogan, whom I admire, a real man who deserved better treatment from Hollywood (self-loving fools) and the WWF (WWE) than he got. He made the best of it all. Love you, Roddy! Hello! RU-vid! Roddy Piper's here & he's kicked your butt!
he came to the. flea market area in Joppa town MD and in less then I believe two weeks he was gone seems odd I wanted see um just couldn't see dealing with three parking lots of people to see um looking back I wish I had .
Say what you like about "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, but from all I've heard, I think he was probably one of the nicest, classiest, and down-to-earth guys ever in pro wrestling - especially to the fans. :-) I'm just so sorry I never got to meet him in person. RIP dearest Hot Rod.
whoever told you the wrestler is based on piper has no clue about piper,,,,,,piper always has a demand and always will,,, his mic skills alone are still to this day better then anyone in any company can today...I would still pay to see pipers pit
I agree that Piper is a good, honest man, but what I want to know is why he never gets much crap for not being pinned to the matt for 17 years until Bret Hart finally beat him in like 1990 or something. Hogan gets crap for being a politician, Hunter, Shawn, the list goes on and on, but you never hear about Roddy.

Just my opinion.
i realize i'm replying to a 3yr old comment, but, seriously, why get all churchy? i've read his book 5 times, i know he's into that, but why mention being a christian as if that's respectable? the bush fam is christian. & who's right? protestants, catholics, lutherans, presbyterian, baptist, pentecostal, anglican, 7th day, jehovahs, etc... & that's just within christianinsanity ! if pipes were half muslim, half jew, he'd still be pipes. leave the cross at home.
Wrestling back then wasn't all about if you were "good". Over who could better promote themselves. And who had a nicer image. Piper was not a better showman than Hogan. And the things he did in acting were not very good. I'm sorry to those who think "They Live" was actually a good film. And forgive me for saying the following. I do not believe your faith is a reason to determine if you are a good man. Even men of faith can be twisted.
