He accepted the gift God gave him and did a masterful job developing it into a sound that touches the heart of anyone that ever herd him in person. He was so good , almost scary to listen to his emotion and feelings in his songs.
Since my high school days I become absolutely mezzmerised by this man and despite the tragedy in his 52 years he let so many fans enjoy his mag nificant voice. I saw him in Evansville, Indiana in 1964 and became a fan for life. Mike Daughety!!
ONLY ONE OF THE GREATEST SONG WRITERS WITH A VOICE THAT WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. I DANCED MY FIRST DANCE TO THIS SONG IN 8TH GRADE. I HAVE ALL HIS RECORDS AND HIS SONGS BRING BACK SO MANY MEMORIES !!
I have heard many many many songs sung in my 75 years on this Earth yet one stands out as the most beautiful ever. A Love so Beautiful, sung by Roy Orbison, just the best, the very best. Thank you Roy Orbison for the hours of pleasure you have given me as I listen to you sing. But, this song is unsurpassed in lyrics and the singer. Heart wrenching, beautiful and so true. I am so lucky to have experienced this wonderful singer. Thank you Mr Roy Orbison from the bottom of my heart.
I recall buying a CD from Roy Orbison ,three month later l lost my wife to cancer.when l would hear l would break my heart every time. Song was only one in dreams,2007 and l still weep.
ROY CANTU, IM SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS. NOT SURE IF YOU KNOW THIS,BUT. ORBISON AND HIS FIRST WIFE WERE OUT RIDING MOTORCYCLES, SHE WAS HIT BY A TRUCK AND KILLED(AT 25 Y.O.) ROY WAS LEFT WITH 3 CHILDREN. THEY WERE WITH HIS PARENTS WHILE HE WAS TOURING.A FIRE BURNED THE HOUSE AND TOOK THE TWO OLDEST KIDS. I THINK THATS WHY R.O. WROTE SO MUCH ABOUT DREAMS &DREAMING. SOMETIMES THEY'RE SO VERY REAL,YOU REGRET WAKING UP. I PRAY YOU CAN FID SOME PEACE.
Our personal manager took me back stage in the 66 to met him !!! I had loved his voice for years needles to say I was speechless!!!! he was so shy and sweet!!! there was a terrible storm out, The Club wanted to give back their money ???!!! He said these fine people came out to see me in this mess & sent Ken & I up to the balcony to see if He could be heard up there with out power ?? we could so he gave a fantastic show with out power !!!!!!!! oh my GOD what a voice !!!!!!!! I'll always be Grateful of that night !!!!!!! I'm 80 now and still to this day it's one of the many thing that I'm thankful for !!!!!!!! THANKS ROY !!!!
I was with EMI handling their overseas promotion from London. Roy was on Decca records (London label) but I was great pals with The Hollies and their manager who was also Roy and Pitneys publicist. My partner at the time was an huge uk star in his own right so I was a lucky lad in so many respects.

I have met Roy Orbison also and knew the band members . Roy’s personal sound man Tommy Dills ( RiP Tommy 2005 ) introduced me to Roy Orbison. I had Roy sign my In Dreams album . A feel very fortunate also . Royally yours
Now Albert,if I may,,,you very lucky guy, his. Range,,l mean the Wilburys (harrison, petty, Dylan, Lynn who all are great loved Roy), Leah's just wonderful, I know no song by Roy that I don't love
Un gran canta autor. Yo lo considero dentro del podio de los grandes. Con esa fluida voz es de puro talento. Es un subvalorado. Y su vida bastante triste pero muy optimista a la vez.
I saw Roy very many times both from out front and back-stage; also twiddled spanners on his old cars and motorcycles. This Austin concert is one of the very best examples of him working his craft. Pure bliss to hear now and shivers all down my spine as the memories come flooding back. Gene Pitney too, used to tour in the UK often back to back with Roys visits: another fabulous performer and guy. God hold them dear.
Gene Pitney was in the Air National Guard. Maybe music and sports figures did that so they wouldn't be drafted like Elvis. Believe it or not, I pulled KP with Gene Pitney down at Lackland AFB while in Basic Training in the Spring of 62. He actually didn't have to do any work. He spent most of the day being guided around and introduced to everyone. Seemed like a really nice guy. I got to shake his hand.
Adel Gresham you might like watching this.... it is worth being seen 2 or 3 times it's THAT GOOD......... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jSiOA3pVEVw.html
R.O. TOURED EARLY WITH THE THE BEATLES. YOU COULDN'T HEAR THE BEATLES ,BUT WHEN R.O. WAS ON STAGE, EVERYONE REMAINED SEATED AND QUIET. ONE OF THE MOST UNDERRATED OVERLOOKED ARTISTS, EVER! WHAT AN INCREDIBLE GIFT!
I was at the concert in the Capitol, Cardiff, Wales. Beatles were relatiively new on the scene. Lots of screaming young girls. Then Roy came on stage and demonstrated what a grteat singer he was. Audience was very enthralled by his superb showmanship.
