I still lose myself in this mans voice, his loss is felt, 100 years from now, people will still listen and say, his voice is so beautiful, soulful,so strong, from the heart.
He looks so handsome and shy with his smiling eyes. All the kids in the family were poor sighted and wore coke bottle glasses. I like Elvis but Roy has way more range than any singers he mentioned.. b arr none. He sings live as perfectly as the Recording studio...
+Wallace Morrison She probably got it from one of the biographies of Orbison, or an article by someone who knew what they were talking about. The 'accidental reason' was in late 1963 when touring in Alabama. He left his clear glasses on a plane, and had to perform and face the press wearing dark glasses. These images of him 'went around the world' Roy's words. He had to wear glasses from early childhood due to extreme short sight. Most. not all of the early childhood photos shows him in glasses. The 'image 'thing was that Roy was, lets face it beyond ugly. He was bizarre looking. Promoters left images off posters for his concerts because they were concerned that his looks would cut into ticket sales. he obviously wore thick lenses for a reason, and both biographies I have read confirm that.
Because he didn't move on stage. So it's very easy to sing. And Elvis' voice was way more powerfull. Roy had a fantastic voice but he sounds a little bit fragile in my opinion. Elvis had a lot of voices. Compare Hounddog to Blue Suède Shoes, Jailhouse Rock to Don't Be Cruel, Heartbreak Hotel to Are You Lonesome Tonight, Now Or Never to Suspicious Minds. Just listen to it. Different voices, same singer. And after that, listen to the 70's Elvis. He was a totally different singer compared to the 50's and 60's Elvis. He sounded so different. If we listen to Roy...we hear allways that same voice. That's fine, but you can't say Roy was the better singer. Elvis had it all. The looks, the voice and his dynamic way of performing. I must admit Roy had a great writing talent wich Elvis had not.
I met Roy Orbison back stage in 1983 . He was a gentle , quiet Texan . He was the “Caruso “of Rock N Roll . There are pictures with him and Marianne Faithful . She is wearing his glasses . Roy was a true singer ! 4 octave range . I met his brother Sam . He looked a lot like Roy .
Roy seems like he was really down to earth. Even with all of the tragedy that he had to endure, he's always positive in every interview that I've seen.
Blimey ! Very odd to see the late great Roy Orbinson without his trademark sunglasses ! Such a humble man and gentle soul ! And a voice like no other ! THANK YOU so much for uploading this groovy "blast from the past" for us to enjoy ! CHEERS !! :-)
He was pretty blind and one year he forgot his regular glasses on a plane so he had to wear his prescription sunglasses and he preferred those over his regular glasses i also heard he wore them because he was a shy person
That was great! Thanks for sharing. Good job by Roy. I do wish he would have left those cigarettes alone and we may have had more good years from him but we are grateful for what we had.
Какой скромный и хороший человек,обладая такой популярностью и любовью публики,не испортил себя славой! Как жаль,что его нет,это уникальный певец и человек!
His texan twan in his voice is so cool and makes him 100times better when he sings.dolly Parton has a voice like Roy's and that woman from Fleetwood mac stevie nicks have voice s that just make u want to hear more
When he died he had a home on Malibu Beach in Calif. He ended up doing VERY well financially. And he deserved it. A very hard working gent but yet with a wonderfully caring heart for others. May he rest in eternal bliss....
this is great thanks royorbison is great and we love australia 2 and this is one of only 2 times ive seen him without the sunglasses cool takecare all thanks for this great video
How can one not love this man? So gentle, such a great human being, not to mention his singing... Please, English is not my mother tongue and I have difficulty understanding some things. At 1:05 Roy says that someone is doing really well in the States at the moment, who is it? Thanks!
+Filmbrock Thanks! I couldn't figure out what it was Roy was saying (I did understand "Bobby", but not the surname). My English is quite defective when it comes to understanding other people (which is frustrating, especially when, like in this case, someone tells you the right words and you realise you did know them all, it's not as if they were new words for you).
+Filmbrock Thanks for your compliment on my English! For me, writing it has always been much easier than speaking it, and understanding what other people say is just a nightmare. I don't know whether Roy's accent is typical from Texas or not, but I can understand him much better than most US or British people. He speaks softly and slowly, and that helps.
