Welcome back to our channel, thank you for your support by leaving a thumbs up and subscribing to our channel. In this video we are removing the charcoal cannister evap system from my 2021 Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 motorcycle. This emissions system is designed to salvage any fuel vapours from escaping to the atmosphere and instead route them to the intake manifolds and then consume them during the normal combustion cycle. As you will see from this video the charcoal cannister on my bike was flooded with gasoline which renders the system ineffective. I was never advised by my dealer to not fill my motorcycle to the top, if you routinely fill your tank to the top your charcoal cannister will most likely be useless as well. I have also heard of people having issues with their bikes running poorly when this system malfunctions due to vacuum leaks. In my opinion it's better to just remove it.
Thanks again for watching liking and subscribing!!

Thanks for this tutorial. I'm midway through the removal, and this video made it much easier than trying to figure it out on my own. I'm going to replace the factory battery with a much smaller and lighter Lithium Shorai item. Love seeing beautiful BC in the background. Lived on the coast for 30 years, but now in Central Hudson area, NY. Lots of beautiful county roads to cruise. Keep doing what you guys are doing. Many thans,

A small insight : instead of putting the valve back, one can just put a 1k resisitor in its place for a cleaner delete. i have just used a resistor direactly installed on that coupler and taped it. works like a charm and keeps my ocd intact. also keeps that check light away. great content btw

Thanks for the comments and thanks for being a part of our channel. I was thinking of doing that but wanted to put the resister in a blank plug housing to keep it tidy. Did you just jump the terminals with a resister?

yes brother i exactly did that and its been more than 5-6 months its going great no issues so far. just put enough insulation tape around the plug. @@losttogether4ever

Thanks again for another wonderful video. I'm not sure yet if I am going to remove my canister, will sleep on it. I did want to make a comment on another topic though. I have the same chrome and black tank that you do. A few months ago I came across a short seat cowl for sale, that is a match for these tanks, chrome and black with the stripe. Thinking that it would look nice on my bike I ordered one from India. The cost was around $150 CDN. To make a long story short it did not fit, not even close. The mounting brackets did not line up with the bolt holes in the seat, they were off by several inches. I tried to get a refund from the company but they did not return my e-mails. I then contacted E-bay and they refunded my money the next day. So if you see one of these cowls for sale - beware. Cheers, Don

Once again great content!! Thank you!! Re: previous video. Just to let you know, Yes Cyprus is great nice rides but what I am finding now it's summer that my interceptor is giving off a lot of heat and that is highway riding not city bumper to bumper. Our summer temperatures rage from 35 to around 45 at the height of summer. Do you have any suggestions of how to lower the temperature of the engine? I have stock silencers still also. Thanks a lot sorry for rambling on. Ride safe!
@losttogether4ever
@losttogether4ever Год назад
Thank You for the kind comments!! One thing that you could do is put on after market exhaust and replace the airbox intake to allow the engine to breath freely, the stock exhaust is somewhat restrictive resultiing in more heat generated, allowing the engine to breath should reduced the operating temperatures. I'm not sure how noticable it would be though.

I had the regulator/rectifier replaced under warranty and several months later noticed the purge canister was missing. The garage accepted that they had failed to replace it and fitted a new one. During the time it was missing my Interceptor ran OK with no engine fault and I didn't notice any change in performance. So maybe you can just remove the canister.
@losttogether4ever
@losttogether4ever Год назад
You can just remove the canister but if you do that you will have a vacuum leak unless you plug the lines leading to the intake manifolds. Thanks for watching and commenting!!

wire the perg valve plug to send the right signal, it if open is the right signal you dont need to do anything, a volt meter can tell you what to do. 😊
@losttogether4ever
@losttogether4ever 10 месяцев назад
Thanks for watching and being a part of our channel, I think the signal may change depending on what the ECU decides is the right time to open or close the purge valve, so I'm not quite sure what you mean.

Hi sir, nice video btw! I’m from Brazil I’m just thinking, I can just pop out the pipes from the intake as you do in, and then puts the silicone rubber caps. The full system will continue on the bike as dead weight, but it will be much more easy to revert to original state. An I correct?
@losttogether4ever
@losttogether4ever 7 месяцев назад
Yes, that's true you could just remove the lines and then place silicone caps on the nipples, you should also disconnect the line that goes from the tank to the charcoal cannister otherwise it might overfill with fuel I think.
@ALMairink
@ALMairink 7 месяцев назад

thanks for making this video. question. i too think i may have filled my tank too much. sometimes after a fill, the bikes performance is off. when in first, second, third it seems to sputter or lose power when im accelerating - or trying too. im wondering now if this is my problem. would this symptom be related to the evap/canister system? if so, im going to do what you did.
@losttogether4ever
@losttogether4ever 8 месяцев назад
Thanks for watching and being a part of our channel. In thinking about it if your cannister was saturated with fuel the purge valve could be opening as it should and then your engine could be sucking raw fuel into the intakes instead of just vapour. This would potentially make your engine run rough as it would throw off the fuel air mixture that the ECU is trying to feed the engine. I think the only way to prove it one way or the other would be to take the cannister off and then shake it, if it's not full of fuel you should be able to hear the charcoal moving around, if it's saturated with fuel as mine was you will be able to shake gas out of the end of it proving that the cannister is not functioning. Unfortunately it's a bit of work to do if your cannister is funtioning properly, but I think it might be the only way to show one way or the other. Hope this makes sense.

@losttogether4ever
@losttogether4ever 16 дней назад
I would check for a vacuum leak, or an exhaust leak. You may have accidentally swapped a tank vent for an evap line or like me I had one header pipe not sealed against the head causing me grief for a few months as I changed out sensors to try and track down my issue. The idle should be smooth if everything is tightly sealed. Let us know how it goes!
@castleclubclipz
@castleclubclipz Месяц назад
Cool vid. Did you notice your bike starting or running more smoothly with this stuff deleted??
@losttogether4ever
@losttogether4ever Месяц назад
It may be psychological but I think it does run smoother, probably because my evap cannister was soaked in gas so therefore useless. It may have been trying to purge liquid gas into the intake system instead of fumes as it was designed. (I'd wager that almost all of the Enfields out there have fuel soaked canisters, just by owners trying to squeeze a bit of extra range by topping up the tank.) Just my thoughts.

Hi Im in the process of removing the EVAP canister from my 650 CGT in the UK .I was wondering if having blanked off the ports on the EVAP valve if it caused pressure build up and overloads the valve and cause a problem and cause an issue with the ECU ie creating an error code, just a thought as its not a straight forward getting to the valve?
@losttogether4ever
@losttogether4ever 9 дней назад
I haven't had any faults with my ECU, as long as everything is capped off properly and the tank vent is open to the atmosphere there should not be any pressure building up. The valve will continue to open and close normally it just won't route any fumes anywhere.

Hi, may I know if there are any other advantages than getting some air exposure to RR unit?
@losttogether4ever
@losttogether4ever 10 месяцев назад
By eliminating the Evap system you eliminate any future problems that might come up due to fuel saturation of the charcoal cannister. I've read about bikes not running right because of gasoline flooded cannisters.

I noticed near the end of the video - after you put everything back together and started the bike - that your left switch hub (high beam, low beam, horn, and turn signal controls) has a hazard/flasher switch as well, to the right of your headlight switch. This feature isn't on my '21 Continental GT 650 (Euro 4) in the United States - no HAZARD switch that is. Was this stock on your bike, or a modified switch housing and wiring project?
@losttogether4ever

Hey Chris, that's an aftermarket switch that I modified I made a video of it here--ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-W4zuBKHQkOA.html it's a prettty easy project once you assemble all the bits. Thanks again for watching.

Hello… My INT650 is showing some weird problem. I recently changed my airfilter to bmc. And idl it for 15 min. I’m using stock exhaust. And then I ridden it for few kms and then got a full tank fuel on it after riding it for 40km it shows some missing issues. After that ride next day I took INT for a ride and after 7km missing started and after 12km it’s getting worse. After that I cleaned O2 sensor and give it a try after that it shows missing after 20km, fuel pump and spark plugs are new. Any solution for this.
@losttogether4ever
@losttogether4ever День назад
The first thing I would do is put some fresh gas in it, is it possible that your gas may be contaminated, if that isn't the issue I'd then check all your electrical connections as well as your fuel line connectors, mine once ran intermittently bad and I traced the issue to a fuel line connector that wasn't totally seated, once I pressed it together I heard a click. The loose connector was allowing air to enter the fuel system causing some mis-firing once it was warm. Reading that you have had a new fuel pump makes me think this could be your issue. Let us know how you make out, thanks for being a part of our channel.
@GregoryRamsey
@GregoryRamsey Год назад
What did you do with the two vacuum ports on the gas tank?
@losttogether4ever
@losttogether4ever Год назад
Thanks for watching and participating in our channel. The 2 lines are not vacuum lines 1 is a drain line from the tank rim and the other is the line leading to the evap cannister. I kept them both and routed them just in front of the swingarm. This way if there's any overfill from the tank that needs to drain it will just spill on the ground and not onto the hot engine. I think I explained this in the video.
