When starting my Royal Enfield Bullet Electra X the engine kicked back smashing the gears on the starting Sprag clutch and idler gears Off with the primary case to inspect and repair
Thanks for clear video! Mine is a 2008 AVL Bullet that had the starter removed when I bought it likely because the sprag is sheared. Neither of my two manuals describe the repair nearly as clearly as you do. Thanks!! Once I get it sorted I plan on starting with starter the somewhat like I do with kickstarter-releasing the compression, engage starter pop compression back on, and hopefully not getting a pop-back. Cheers
Great video. 2009 electrax/bullet hybrid here. Same issue. Man, this is a bummer to fix. Any chance you can list the specialty tools used? I counted at least 2. Thanks in advance.
Clean Nuts - again, Thanks for video. After I got my AVL back together, I have a substantial clatter. Suspect alignment of end play shims you mentioned. Could you give any guidance on the “…three or four times” you re-did the shims? Thanks
Hello how are you your video is very helpful your bike looks stupendous where did you purchase the specialty tools I have the same problem with mine and I'm having a problem finding the specialty tools I live in Canada but it's quite hard I would need to know if it's possible where you got the clutch cool and the magneto tool the two special tools that you use thank you very much
I have got 2003 500es Indian market, the issue i have got is that once the bike start the sprung clutch doesn’t disengage and the starter stays running with the engine. What could be issue? clutch gone faulty?
mines 2002 kick and electric, starters not worked since i got it, possibly sprag gone, but i like kick starting it , more fun, 1st or 2nd kick once you get to know its mood
I totally agree it is likely to happen again, but I’ve been kicking mine for five years, I’ve had four nasty kick-backs/backfires that really tear up ankle or knee or hip. So I’ve given in to trying to buying a new starter and sprag and the auto-retard harness that Hitchcock sells. We’ll see.
