At first, I thought this was a joke, but no, he can not even get it off of the side stand. It is simply hilarious that no other human that has ever ridden one has mentioned this difficulty. Not even a 5 foot 4 dutch girl. Move on to a 125 with a 20 inch saddle... LMFAO.

This is very interesting topic after reading many comments below. You have obviously taken a lot of flak for not riding the bike. Bottom line is it's your channel and if you didn't feel it was safe to ride or couldn't stand the bike up...then I for one agree you shouldn't force something you don't feel comfortable with, especially when you are the one who is liable for damages while test riding. I recall a similar situation recently with the 2024 KLR650 for me. Keep in mind, I've owned a Tiger 800XR and now have a 2024 Honda Transalp and have no problem riding or balancing those bikes though I'm on my toes when upright and I sport a 30" inseam, 5'7". The KLR is just too top heavy, BUT I was able to sit on the "S" short version of the KLR and I'm perfectly fine with that one. Likewise, at the same dealership, I sat on two Africa Twins, and I could sit on one much like I can with my Transalp...the other there was no way! I felt like you in this video. All I can say is hopefully RE comes out with a lower seat option and possibly even a lowered "S" version of that bike. I also have a 2022 Triumph T120 and have no issues getting my feet down on that bike. I must say for everyday riding...I tend to favor the T120. Cheers!

Thanks for your detailed comment. I genuinely could not upright the bike from the centre stand, I agree my technique may have been wrong. But I’ve never been in a position like this before. It all felt so alien. There are going to be a lot of upset short Asian riders, that’s all I’m going to say. 🙏

Mate I have a Honda Transalp 650 2003 and the seat height is 850 + side stand only with top heavy weight as Vtwin and big 22L tank. I am 6ft so no problem, but I do think its a technique thing. You seem to not commit to taking control of it. Looks like you were looking for the bike to do it for you?? Comparing the seat height to your meteor 650 is like chalk and cheese. They are meant for completely different environments and riding styles.

I’m sure your translip doesn’t leant over at an angle of near 45 degrees like this bike does when on the side stand. I think Royal Enfield are addressing that issue now. But yes it looks like my technique was wrong. Live and learn 😂🙏

I'm a 1,73m owner of a Himalayan 411, 3+ years now. And I want to thank you for your video. Don't mind the idiots trying to put you down. This isn't a technique nor a tall-enough problem, this is a engineering problem. I know what may have happened. The 411 has a side-stand that keeps the bike too upright, I've seen many instances where it felt to the other side because of it. And still, having it parked on a slope was a pain in the ass to get it out sometimes because of the upper weight distribuition. They may have tried to fix this by increasing the angle, fixing one problem and creating another, like you showed. Some owners of the 411 sawed the side-stand to make it shorter and fix this problem. In this case, this new problem may be a major fault, if I'll considering upgrading to the new version.

Thanks for the support. The bike virtually leans over at 45 degrees. That's what it feels like. And with a full tank of fuel, it was impossible even on tip toes to get the bike past tipping point. I've seen a lot of videos now off people coming of at low speed and miis-footings. A lovely bike, which I will pass on now. 100% too tall for me. I will stick with my cruisers. 🙏

It is a wonder how many sales have been lost for possibly one of the Worlds most famous bikes because of this childish error! How can all the time preparing it for sale have been wasted, beggars belief! It is moments like this that make one want to believe it was not developed in the UK! I went to my local RE dealer, struggled to get it vertical, gently let it settle back down, put my cheque book back in my pocket and walked out! Now hoping to sleep with a Vulcan S for many years!

At last some one agrees with me! It’s only taken 4 months lol. To be honest I hurt my back struggling so much to get the bike upright. And I agree, all that hype for months with Itchy Boot”s episodes. Just to experience this. I agree my technique could have been better. But it would be impossible for me to off road this bike. One deep crevice, and I wouldn’t be have to put my foot down, and would not have the strength to keep the bike upright. I’ve seen so many videos recently of people coming off at low speed with bad footings. And I think I’m the only review on RU-vid to touch on this issue. Not a bike for short people. Weird, im 5’5” with a 29” inseam and got on one yesterday no sweat with a stock seat on low setting. Had half a tank of fuel but as I ride a super tall DRZ400 I’ve learnt to stand the bike up first, holding the front break and then getting on. Maybe you need a different technique? Some turn the front wheel the opposite way while mounting on the stand. Maybe a wooden block or a widening foot under the stand would help?
@Teacher-T-Thailand
@Teacher-T-Thailand 4 месяца назад
Some stock seats are 810mm I’ve since found out. The one I tried was 825mm lowest setting. But you still have 1 inch extra inseam to raise the bike. Surely you must admit the bike leans over excessively on the side stand. I only had the bike for an hour, and was flying to Thailand the next day. All in hind sight I could have done things differently. But decided I will stick with my cruisers. I’ve even had to lover my Meteor 650 from 740mm to 720mm. The Himalayan will never be for me. And have since seen so many videos of people falling off them at low speed with miss footings. Something I could not afford to do on a brand new bike that day. 🙏

@@Teacher-T-Thailand Yeah, go with what you feel is good. The one I tried was 825mm. My DRZ is 890mm and feels heavy because it’s high. I’ve learnt to mount it standing up as I’m not tall enough to push it over while on the stand.

First I've heard of a Himalayan 452. I feel your frustration. I'm 5'9" with a 30 inside leg. I just keep walking by anything resembling a dirt bike. But I did test ride a Himalayan and really enjoyed it. My two complaints were that it really isn't powerful enough for my everyday needs, and it's air-cooled. One thing I really appreciated is that when I really let my weight onto the bike the mono shock compressed nicely and I wasn't on my toes, but flat footed. I weigh 190lbs. I didn't see this bike sink at all when you sat on it. Could it be the rear shock was at the stiffest setting? Looks like a major development for RE. Thanks.

Ok. I watched your video carefully. I think the issue may not be totally cause you have shorter legs. I think it's more the fact that the side stand ends just where one would normally place their left foot on the ground. ( It's not lie this in most other bikes) So this makes you stretch your leg out a bit, thereby making it difficult to use your left foot as a base to push the bike up- Shorter legs plus lack of flexibility. Plus you need to simultaneously jerk the handlebars up and once it's coming up turn bars to the right and push down the right side of the handlebar. It shouldn't take too much effort. Just a little bit of shoulder strength. I'm 5 feet 10 with an inseam of 30 inch (shorter Asian legs) and I have no issues. People of your height/ inseam also don't seem to have any issues. Nice video, nevertheless! Subscribed.

I have taken a lot of criticism over this video. It seems you can say nothing bad about this bike. And yes maybe my method was wrong. It seems maybe I should have taken the bike off the side stand first, stood the bike upright, and the swung the leg over. But got a new unknown bike I wouldn't have done this without some one standing on the other side. My 28 inside leg has always been an issue for me. And the seat height I tested was 825mm. In this video you can clearly see the issue. My Meteor 650 back home is a 740 mm seat height, and Istill had to lower that by 20mm. Thanks for the Sub. 😂🙏 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1h1J09k1xww.htmlsi=NwWIbdEkkd0XunNi

I realise now I should have taken the bike off the side stand first maybe. But a brand new bike, and already knowing this bike is too tall for me, I was not prepared to do that. No courses needed. The bigger problem for RE is that the Himalayan will cost over 200.000Baht , and the new Honda NX500 costs about the same. This is exactly why I am a subscriber to your channel, Teacher. An honest review and a review of issues that almost all other reviewers gloss over. I am vertically challenged at 5.7ft and decided a while ago that most manufacturers are making bikes that are not meant for me. You also highlighted something that I have direct experience of in that the bike was so heavy and lent so far over that you are unable to get it off the side-stand. I had exactly the same experience last year when I went to test ride the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. At the dealership the bike was parked on an incline (on the side-stand side) and I was not able to get it off the side-stand to start my test ride. As with you, I walked away from it and cancelled the test ride. I was, however, able to do my test ride on the Super Meteor 650 and ended up buying one of these bikes. I am very skeptical about a lowering kit on the new Himalaya because it may get you closer to the ground, but you still have to deal with the weight. I am also not a fan of bikes that are clearly top-heavy, I've been there and done that with a different manufacturer. Well done on telling it as it is Teacher, another gold star for you on this video and I'm sorry you were so disappointed by the experience. More importantly, many of us as waiting your return to Thailand and the review of fitting the new rear shocks on your SM650. Be well.

Thank you so much once again. I also received your PM about the rear sprocket on the Meteor. I will certainly consider making a video about this issue. It’s always hard to think of new content every week. The shocks I bought are also 20mm lower. Fingers crossed I won’t be disappointed again 🙏

@@Teacher-T-Thailand I am watching for the shocks content with great interest, it would be a show down between a different, lighter exhaust and the replacement shocks. Could you keep us up to date on any new information you may get concerning the belt drive. That one is fascinating if a little out of my budget for now? It must be nice to be home after your travels.

With regards to thinking of things to produce for content each week. I would caution against feeling that you have to produce something each week. I have seen too many content providers burn out with that pressure. You should produce content when you feel you are ready, we will be here.

Pretty much… yes. How can you review a bike properly if you can’t ride it? It’s also a highlight to short riders. No other reviews are stating this at the moment. It’s all roses. Which it is if you are a taller rider I suppose. But I’m seeing too many videos of people dropping them already. 🙏

@@Teacher-T-Thailandyou should change your video to I’m an EPIC fail. You can’t blame the bike because you’re not strong enough to lift it.
