Very interesting and thoural video. The labor cost behind replacing that cam chain is probably steep. Thank you for the valuable information brother! 🤙

Side note: FleaBay has the flywheel tool for $20. Well worth it for the ease of use. A little anti seize on the tools internal threads and contact point increases it's function.

Hey, you should make a video on the new Himalayan that's coming on Nov-7th. Itchy boots got to ride it and there are several details available for it, would love to hear your thoughts.

Awesome dude! I’m new owner, I got inspired by your videos. My Himalayan 2024 is 300 miles first service done. I feel like the gears are a little stiff, and the valves are too noisy, been told that sound is normal and that it will loosen up after 1500 miles. I’ll do a valve check at 1500 and oil change just to be sure. I like the bike it’s heavy but when the engine is running it’s fine I like the balance and ergonomics I’m a noob for off road but learning. I’m 55 and i’m planing to do a long trip on it 25000 miles eventually.

Won't be run in for 5,000 miles. Oil change and adjust tappets at 1,000 miles and it will thank you for it. Mines at just over 5,000 miles and just loosening up nicely.

nice work! my camchain dropped off the crankshaft sprocket while changing the camshaft for the new TEC performance cam, and it doesn`t want to re-engage. when I try and fit the cam, the chain jumps the sprocket, I am about to give up and take off the cover etc as your video, unless you have a magic method to get the chain back over the crank sprocket from the top. If not, maybe I should fit a new camchain anyways (mileage 12000)

I’m sure you have this resolved by now, but I had the same thing happen to me. I just dropped some extra slack from up top, to get the timing chain to fall below the lower sprocket. Then lifted it back up. I kept doing this until it grabbed in the right spot.

Changing camshaft, cam chain sprocket, airfilter, exhaust ECU fuel x etc etc . Looks like a new engine would be better . Get a himlayan 450 😂

side note postscript wtf, my oil line is chafing on the front engine mounting bolt - looked like you have removed it? temporary/for a fix? I was thinking of grinding down the nut a wee bit - hmmm

side note after several abortive attempts where the chain keeps dropping off the crank sprocket, the manual actually recommends schlapping some grease on it to keep it in place while you fertle around with the cam sprocket getting it lined up. If you can`t get the sprocket on as theres not enough slack in the chain, its dropped off again - 3 times!!
