The Royal Enfield Himalayan SCRAM 411 is a new model in Australia.

What do you think of the Enfield Scram??
Is there enough Power for you?

I think the bike is too under powered ... same with the hunter 350 ... there are better options on the market ...

I love this one but I don't think it's the Swiss Army Knife RE is trying to be. It's a multi purpose road bike but off road? There's no center stand to help the ground clearance oh it'll be fine on a gentle trail fine just don't try some of the more challenging routes. Here in the UK its a road bike with off road pretentions, for me it'll be grand days out and hopefully a bit of long distance touring and if like me you study many of the Himalayan vlogs from Tec Bike Parts, Danger Wheels and others you'll soon have a Christmas list written enjoy!

Love being able to flat-foot a bike and I like the philosophy of the RE brand, they're very much on the radar. There's definately something to be said about riding a slow bike fast - did 40,000km into 5 of the 7 Australian states on a 250cc Suzuki Intruder and it was a blast. I think you're right though - if they could offer the bike with the 400 lams or the 650 fun, it would be a real winner. Enjoyed watching this.

Loving my time with the Scram, got to say that it is absolutely fine off road, that 19” front is fine, and probably just as capable as the Himi off road. Love the colour and the look. I also think that the power is ample for what it is.

That blue looks really nice. Looks a lot better than the Himalayan. I wish it had cross-spoke wheels, so it could take tubeless tyres. I wouldn't want the 650 twin in it. Part of the appeal of it for me is that it's a two-valve air-cooled single.

Being a 50 year old with a Suzuki M1500 I recently bought the SCRAM 411 myself after wanting something light, easy to manoeuvre and did not matter too much if it got covered in muck from our winter roads over here in the UK. I am still running the little beastie in but the SCAM 411 is everything I wanted it to be and gives me so much pleasure when I am out riding it - it takes me down the smaller lanes and country roads which I would never (wherever possible) take the M1500. So pleased with it so far and looking forward to beyond the first service when I get a true feel of what it will be like. Saying that - the M1500 still gives me the grin factor when I start it up and hear the thumping V Twin rumbling away 🙂. Very nice little review, good job 🙂

It’s the perfect LAMS bike. Ride it for three years, get your fulls, get a bigger bike but keep the scram for your weekend camping/dirt bike riding. One of those bikes you buy, learn on it and keep it pretty much for as long as it’ll run. If this was available when I was LAMS, it’s what I’d buy. Sick bike.

Test rode one...100 metres down the road I wondered what I was doing, but I'd read some good things, so carried on...half an hour later loved it...bought one...your review and good comments about it are SPOT ON. Absolutely how I feel about it. Rumoured release of a 450 water cooled single version sometime. Or yes, the 650 twin (I also bought an Interceptor which is a different bike), but I wonder if either of these moves will ruin the brilliance of the Scram. Then again, I kinda think Royal Enfield really know what they're doing so anything new will be great.

I have the first California Scram 411 sold. I immediately did my pipe and DNA Air Filter upgrade. My pipe is the Delkevik 8” Carbon Fiber model. Swapped the battery for a AntiGravity Lithium I have removed the side badges and the steel pipe they are on. Still have the turn signals to switch to EDS Tuff Lites and get rid of the rear lower plastic fender piece. As of now I took my bike across a scale and I’m at 379 pounds with a half a tank of fuel. I have been at 80mph on the freeway and cruise very comfortably at 65-70mph This bike is no speed demon in any way. It is a cruiser and nimble in traffic and lane splitting as we can do here. A total blast off road. Love the thumper sound of my pipe. My wife and I have several bikes each. 3 Harley’s, a Suzuki and a Honda XL600 Enduro The Scram was purchased to go on the front rack of my truck when towing our RV. Perfect for running to town or sight seeing. For the price it’s worth it. If I was really wanting a all around bike I would definitely buy something bigger with more power. I have seen cylinder bore kits and cams coming out which would be a huge improvement Other than that it’s a great little bike and is great starting when freezing

a 400 cc engine with the hp of a 250cc is a bit awkward and difficult to entice those who want to move down from 650s. Increasing the hp to 40 could make the scram very attractive, especially in comparison to rivals like KTM 390.

Wow, only $4000 here in the US. I just bought the Himalayan $4399, and I absolutely love it. I agree it could be fun with a 650cc on it, but if power is really important to you, the 2024 has over 40 hp and will give that. I agree, the 24 hp is absolutely sufficient. I run on back roads and highways for work daily so usually 60 and 65mph depending on the road and it has no problem what so ever. I love the bike, especially at the price.

It's keep cost low and halogen headlamps have a benefits to you can easily replace a halogen bulb if it's damge and and if you really like LED headlights Royal Enfield going to implement LED headlight soon as possible and I must tell you if you have a foggy weather LED headlights won't work properly but halogen headlight works perfectly

RE are developing a new 450 single water-cooled Himalayan. Due next year maybe? So Himalayan or Scram? Himi has more racks, centerstand, tacho, switch able ABS (rear)..... Can't decide. Wonder if the 19“ front wheel would bolt on to the standard Himalayan. Hmmm...

For me, the Scram would be the perfect bike if it were a 500cc single. There are rumours it may be hitting the streets in a 450cc configuration but will it make its way to Canada ? I’m already harassing my nearest Royal Enfield distributor and have my TW200 up for sale. The 411 can be tarted up a bit with a new air filter system, camshaft and exhaust but I’d rather not.

Hi mate, I am new to riding, in my late 40's from Melbourne looking for my next bike. Currently ride a CB125 just to build up the experience but now really need something with more power that's going to sit comfortably at 100/110km just to get out more and do some day tours here and there. Torn between an RE Classic350 or the Scram 411? Both feel very comfortable when sitting but I am yet to test either. In your opinion which bike would best suit our roads in Oz for some Sunday Fun and the occasional touring?
@ThrottleDownunder
@ThrottleDownunder Год назад
Personally out of those 2 choices my choice would be the Scram 411. However I really recommend considering trying the RE Interceptor 650 too. For $1500 more you are getting a lot more bike. Wishing you safe riding mate

I was wondering whether anyone can give some advice. I’ve seen a few vids on this bike now, but as a non-rider will the lack of power make a difference? By that I mean, I’m looking to get into riding so with no baseline to compare this to, and as a complete newbie would the lack of power make any difference when I’ll be riding around the town where I live and into the city (suburb of London / London…yup Pom is here lol). To put this into perspective I was originally looking at a Gen2 Hayabusa (its a heart over head thing lol) but all my biker friends have said not to get one straight off but get a lower powered bike and build up to it as everything about it is just full on. Too much weight to manoeuvre at slow speed for a newbie, too quick for a newbie to react when things get sketchy etc etc….but the thing is I wont be ragging the bike at any point purely because we have no decent roads in London with 0 traffic to open the taps. Nor can I use it on the motorway as nearly all our motorways have speed cameras and average speed cameras, so for me its just owning a hayabusa and pootling around on. Of course the head then started looking at other bikes and up popped the RE Continental and Interceptor…650, seems to be very manoeuvrable and have enough power to overtake etc …but then I thought, if I’m not worried about power and going from a Hayabusa to a Inter/Conti why not go even lower and so I started looking at things like the Suzuki TU250X and this Scram 411. Completely lost as to what route to go down….the one thing I can be sure of is, I will not be someone who will own multiple bikes. Done that with my cars and now had enough. I’m at the age where when I get a bike, I will be riding it until I call it a day / get too old to ride etc. I wont be buying one, then upgrading etc etc. To put this into some context I’ve owned and driven a fair few cars in my time, from mk1 Fiesta to Sierra Cosworths, original Minis, E39 5 Series and now XF Jag….but I am missing the smaller cars like mk1 Fiesta, original mini etc which were a hoot to drive, easy to park, cheap to run etc etc etc
@ThrottleDownunder

G'day thanks for the question, personally after reading all that I would settle in the middle ground. I feel the RE Conti or Int 650 would be perfect. The moderate power but can still accelerate well for over taking and the odd freeway ride, or even just to get you out of strife, is a great option. A Busa for a beginner is just asking for trouble in my opinion. When we are fresh riders, it's human nature to makes mistakes. A mistake on a Hyabusa could very well be disastrous. Wishing you all the best for your choices
@friktionrc

It's just so underpowered. Most RE's suffer from this. This model's power to weight is 95 watts per kilogram which is really really low, not as low as the classic 20hp version which is down towards 70 watt per kilogram, which is even worse. Yes it sounds and looks good, yes it's not about the speed, but sometimes you want to give it a rip even on scooters / cruisers / scramblers. No matter what you ride, sometimes you want delta V. I want an RE but i stop myself because of the low power. Also, it's air cooled, so it's easy and cheap to maintain no water coolant, no servicing for that, but it's air cooled, on a hot summer day 40C + if you're gonna be stuck in some traffic it will be really really hot and the engine needs to sit through it without any air flowing, could potentially lead to overheating and blown gaskets if done often, ok in gold weather this is not an issue.
