As soon as I saw the strawberry parfait and cakes in the menu at 3:39 I was like, "Martina, you had better order one of those or I will be sad." She did not disappoint!
So happy the channel is thriving and your King Kogi makes such a great bookend to life in Japan! It's like putting on rosy sunglasses that take you to a whole new world :O
This reminds me of the restaurants highschoolers go to in like literally every anime about highschoolers 🤣 finally know why they’re always ordering parfaits. They look DELISH!!
Isn't this Restaurant like the one Shoji from the anime and manga NANA used to work?? It reminds me a lot. Especially the type of seats and the waitress uniform. The food seems great and incredibly tasty. I am so happy to see you in these food adventures again Martina. Stay safe!
I'm eating spicy lentil soup while watching this and I feel like the taste is getting better and better. This is why I watch stuff like this when I eat ❤️
OMG looks so delicious... The covid fucked my honeymoon in Japan and now i cant go because im pregnant... And i also have Ehlers-Danlos and i cant walk too much.... Life sucks sometimes, but this kind of videos make me Happy and hungry. Thank you for bring to us Japan through your videos!
I hope that you can go to your honeymoon one day and that you can feel great. There's a tiny bean growing on you, feel proud of that! You are creating life. Send you lots of support because these type of chronical pain is the worst. Keep yourself safe and good!
Wow! So there is a Taiwanese Drama called "It Started with a Kiss" I watched in 2005 (based off the Japanese Manga) and the characters go to this restaurant. They have this restaurant in Taiwan and I went there because of that show. I had no idea they have it in Japan too.
Royal Host. Oh the memories. The family restaurants over there are the best though LOL no matter what mood you're in they'll have it on the menu I love it
Everything looks so tasty! Especially that onion soup, I'm such a sucker for a comfort soup 🤤 whenever I'm finally able to visit Japan I'll be stopping by a family restaurant for sure!
You’re always such a joy to watch Martina! I agree with @doccerz, you’re like rosy sunglasses for the soul. The food looked so comforting and rich. I’d have a hard time choosing from that menu.
That coke machine is called a freestyle machine and they have been popular in the US for quite a while. Love that you can get hard to find sodas in them like vanilla root beer!
This is great and I've never heard of Royal Host Japan, may be more central/southern Japan than what we have in Tohoku though all family restaurants are roughly the same. As a note, "koko de" means "this place here", not "I'll have this". You'll want to use "kore (w)o", which means "I'll have this", or "kore to", which means "I'll have this and..." Koko always refers to a physical place, kore refers to an object. Another mistake that people make is referring to people using kore/are/sore, which is technically quite rude, though most people will laugh it off ad treat it as a joke since they know you're making a mistake and not being intentionally rude by objectifying them. Also! Hamburg steak is not just meat in patty form. It typically also has onions, panko, and a little milk so that the texture is lighter, similarly to a salisbury steak as well.
Business Martina is sus with all their knowledge of Hosts. I really enjoyed this video. The food looked so, so, good as well. I'm always taken aback how close to the menu Japanese food actual looks to the photo. America would never.
Martina, I know this is a silly bucket list request, and prob better suited for the King Kogi channel, but can we see some of the new starbucks food/dessert offerings sometime? I know you've done starbucks in the past, but I want to say it was Christmas and Sakura stuff? Or am I making that up? Oh no. Getting old. Time to hit the vitamins.
I am so envious. I wish we had this sort of restaurant in Toronto. A Denny’s it ain’t which is at the lower end of perfection. Martina dahlink...you are a fantastic videographer which I’ve been noticing with all of your latest presentations. I hope you soon get public and corporate recognition because the talent that you have must not go unnoticed! Cheers from Colin.
Yes I am! I'm almost finished the memberships for King Kogi, should be ready for June~ the channel badges are super cute, I hope you'll like them 💕👩🏻🦳
Omg that menu, the fonts! In china there is a Japanese "Italian" chain called Saiseriya that looks EXACTLY the same, just way cheeper with less options
The drink bar is 👌👌👌 we did not go to this restaurant, but we went to Denny’s and we frolicked through the drink bar drinking all the delights. I did enjoy the melon Fanta! Sweet as you said but such a nice treat! Yum yum
I've been a vegetarian for like a decade now, and let me tell you there are few things I miss more than onion soup. (I know I could make some myself but it's just not the same.) I was totally living vicariously through you 🤤
I recently found out why the portion size is so small in Japan. It's because in Japan you're expected to eat something and only be 80% full (I think its 80), and if you try to be 100% you're actually eating too much. The body takes a long time to realise it's full and by the time it tells you you're full you already ate too much. So eating at 80% is the safer option. It's also good because over eating isn't great for the digestive system having to overwork (and a lot of other things I'm sure).
This has been our motto at home for a few years now! When we take seconds (or thirds lol) someone will ask 'what percent are you at?'. Just so we'll eat out of hunger and not just because we want more :p I'd actually recommend it, just don't take it too srsly, you don't want to shame anyone because they take seconds
I think there’s a few factors! There’s also a more intense culture of compulsory weight expectations, Asian people tend to be shorter/smaller than the average North American, there’s less of a “super size” more is more culture, and also interestingly Asian people tend to have a higher likelihood of heart issues at a lower weight threshold than other races, so being thinner can be more important (not that heart issues aren’t big in North America as well!)
Ha! You are funny Martina. I love how you make your marketing efforts humorous. Also the plant class you recommend is great. I am about to buy a bunch of plants for a new space and it was exactly what I needed.
That's great feedback, thank you 👩🏻🦳💕 I put a ton of planning into these skits to make them funny and to share the classes that I'm enjoying, so I'm really honestly glad for this comment. And Plant Kween is awesome!
@@eatyourkimchi 😁 I really surprised myself just now when I started fan girling over you responding to my comment. Lol. I didn't know I had that in me. But really you are one of the most creative and inspiring people I've seen in action. It's really great to have you around ❤️
Thanks for doing this video! This place is actually on my list when i go back to Japan ☺☺ Btw, business Martina looks like she is back in Canada (based on the background) lol i'm sooo confused
As a kid I despised onion soup but as an adult my tastes buds changed and now it’s my favorite. Enjoyed your video it would probably be the perfect place for those that are not exactly adventurous with food. Definitely more comfort food but still nice. Reminds me of a much nicer Denny’s, Shoney’s but with a ton of different options. ☺️
There’s a halal option no way that’s pretty cool! One thing made me hesitant of visiting Japan is most things have pork and alcohol. I thought halal options would be impossible to find. Thanks for sharing Martina!!
I used to think japan people were saying "cow piss" (instead of calpis) & I genuinely thought that was what they called milk over there. And now I've had the habit of calling milk cow piss 😂
You've never had a hamburger steak in Japan!!!!??????!!! What!!!!??? When we lived in Korea (near Busan), and it was easy to get to Fukuoka by boat (though we only went once) I actually search out a hamburger steak place, and the one we found in Hakata was amazing, run by an older couple, the husband was the cook and the wife worked the front, and it was really only the semi circle seating, but it was amazing
I went to my local Japanese grocery store I’m so grateful I have one. I’ve always been too chicken to check out Calpis. Until I did! Oh my goodness that is so delicious. Looks scary but it’s actually really good.
Come on over to my King Kogi channel if you haven't already! I've started a new segment called Tokyo Tours and I'm putting a ton of creative editing energy into it 👩🏻🦳✨
Also begin japanology has an episode on yoshoku cuisine. Its the Japanese take on Japanese American fusion food evidently. If you aren't familiar, you should look up that episode its really informative.
I have a lot of memories at Royal Host. There was one really close to where we lived the first time I came to Japan. We had several gatherings there too. Very natsukashii~
Martina you always cheer me up! Thankyou. Feeling poopy, my endometriosis has traveled to the nerves on my pelvis giving me awful leg pains and making it hard to walk sometimes. Yet the disease is still seen as just something that makes women's periods a little tougher meaning no researching... 😡 Ugh sorry for the speal. It feels a safe place to vent 😂
I love love onion soup. it is labour intensive but sooooo worth it, because it is super yummy ♡ I don't make it that often though. It is awesome when a restaurant offers it.
The drink bar is crazy cheap at lunch! You're right it would be a great way to try lots of drinks. Think it would be a great place to recover after a late night.
