uhhhhh, this is really the best Liberi Fatali i heared in my Life. Strong Gosebumbs appear on my hole Body meanwhile hearing it. FF8 was my first FF Game at all, my Cousin came to X-mas to our House. Hole Familiy was united, and he bring this game, play it and show me this. I was super exited and ask him, if it's possible to play it for a time and next time we see each other i give him back. He agree and i play it every day, hours and hours. I would say this chance my Life, falling in Love with the Character's music and how the Story goes. Really Emotional and it also Addicted me to buy more of this Series. Loved every "Final Fantasy" i played. But Liberi Fatali was Epic Moment i never forget Squall nearly die ( at least my younger me thought it ) shocking and amazing, wonderfull at same time!

This has me so hyped for a remake we probably won’t get. Imagine the FFVIII soundtrack got the same treatment as FFVII-R… that would be so good. I know a lot of people would probably hate that but not me personally.

I'm a huge fan of Liberi Fatali and have heard MANY versions; this is one of the best. however, just some constructive criticism; it is a bit heavy on the reverb, and I really felt the original vocals were entirely drowned out by the bass sounds. outside of that, it was great

Great soundstage + instrument placement! (Did you use any specific plugin to help you layout the instruments in the way you did, or was it all just very intricate panning and reverb?)

+DavidRussell323 Thank you! I'm glad you noticed those small details. For most of the panning, I use Logic Pro X's binaural panning, so I can place instruments in a 3D environment. The rest is just a directional spread and convolution reverb. Hope that helps!

It's something to do with the mixing and Mid/Side channels. The side channels are way too high and there's not a lot of centre information such as the vocals so as soon as I switch to mono the vocals are gone. It's a good arrangement though.

For the start i would suggest "Blue Fields" or "Find your way". Save the Epics for last. "Ultimecia's Theme", "The Landing" and "The Legendary Beast" ;)

What made the original special is its energy flow; there were slower and quieter moments in the song to help you catch your breath as well as a ramp-up to the climaxes that had a fulfilling pay-off. This version has a bit too much going on all the time and won't let up so I can prepare for the next climax. It's not bad, it's just not as refined (and it's certainly not only this video; I struggle to find another one that matches the original. Mind you I do own the OST on CD so I've got it in the best possible quality as well).

I apologize in advance for my harsh comment because I realize how hard it must be and how much skill it requires to put together something of such mixing and engineering quality. So as a disclaimer, I wish to acknowledge that regardless of my tastes, this is high quality work. But to me this version does not do justice to the orignal, which was, already perfect to begin with. I can understand remaking any of the midi generated tracks of FFVIII but Liberi Fatali was already fully orchestral and of high quality. This new take offers a comparable level of quality to the original and reinterpretates it in this tiresome form of a Hans Zimmer epic soundtrack. I can't wait for Hans Zimmer's style to grow out of fashion so we can listen to something different. It's as if modern classical music is stuck in The Dark Knight, which was now almost ten years ago. Some of the more enthralling brass sections of the lead are now drowned under layers of reverb soaked percussions and sitting in the background. Same goes for some of the flute or oboe melodies. I'll take the original over this any day. I apologize again for the harshness of my comment.

A pretty fair comment :) I don't mind people giving me honest feedback. After all, it's what the music makes you feel that matters. Just to be clear, though_and I hope other fellow musicians and creators agree with me_ it is never my intend to "surpass" the original work. It's already perfect in its own way. Arrangements, re orchestrations and remixes are there to honor such compositions and offer a different voice on it. I particularly love the process because you get to intimately know a piece you already love, on a different level. It's just a work of love, a tribute. Thanks again for your comment, and for taking the time to even listen to what I had to offer.
