I finally decided to take on my tool trailer build out and make myself some custom shelving to be better organized. I bought this Bravo Star work trailer about 7-8 years ago and have always known it could be much much for from an organizational storage perspective. This is Part 1 of the RR Buildings Tool Trailer Series so make sure you follow along if you want to see how it turns out. I am quite happy with it I think.
Also make sure you share this with a friend that might need a push to do this for their or organization.

Ok since you asked... lightweight plywood, battery charging station, use the wall space and ditch the kiddie wallpaper, vertical full wall slot behind shelves for carrying sheet goods with long deep cubbies for levels and stadia etc.

It’s great! My shed has been completed and it turned out nice looking and sturdy and it is way better than the sheds that many of my neighbors had put up. Of course, I'm pleased with the outcome and this Ryan’s ru-vid.comUgkxGZedDTcDfgD7fG_uU4esfx_EgxzlY2_1 Plans was extremely useful to me as a guide.

Your craftsmanship even on this trailer shelving unit is incredible. It’s so satisfying to watch even something like this fit perfect like it should. When I had an enclosed trailer for racing I would always think of how to keep things secure that you will still be using on a regular basis. Using the slope on the shelves for the cases is a nice touch.

Nice trailer set up. My brother in law did something like this years ago to a econoline van we used to install tv antennas and rotors. We could go to the van and knew right where to look for tools and hardware. Looking forward to seeing the next video. Thanks.

I really like your videos. Organized and well thought out. I got back in to construction at 50 yrs old and so far I’m learning new things from you guys. I found your video because we have to do a standing seam roof and needed to get some tips. Really like how you make the job easier with lifts and machines. Keep them coming.

Agreed, a better idea than what was there before. Love the pocket screw fasteners idea. And yes, when building cabinets from plywood, you need the higher grade, I believe they call them "plugged" as they have less voids between the layers and any blems are plugged and filled on both sides. Last thing you need is a fastener connecting to air under the layers of wood. Looks like a Milwaukee tool store !

When planning something, I use Sketchup. A couple days ago, I was asked to build a simple (totally not fancy) cabinet to support an aquarium. Like a bookcase with 1 shelf. Literally 5 pieces of ¾" OSB (top, shelf, bottom, & sides) & 1 piece of ½" OSB siding (the back, show side in). All materials I already had on hand thanks to some construction dumpster diving I did a few years back. A few minutes in Sketchup, and I knew just how to go about building it.

Kyle, I’ve used Storm Door Turn Buttons, Zinc Plated Steel, in the past to secure items from sliding or opening. Along with the angle you put in the shelves these turn buttons fixed to the front edge of the shelves should be more than enough to keep your packouts in place while traveling and when you need the tool just turn them flush with the edge of the shelf and your good to go. You can get a 25pack for less than $10 on amazon or your local big box store should have these as well (hopefully yours has more items in stock than ours here in OH). Keep the great videos coming really enjoy each one. Thanks for sharing

Some strong magnets attached to the back of the pack out would be cool. Not sure if they stick directly to the side of the trailer but if not, you could add a metal strip against the back.

Sand, prime & Paint it with semi gloss black and red. To match the pack outs, use a sheet of chrome diamond plate on the end flat surface on the trailer door sides to protect it from impacts. Then rubber utility carpet on the floors incase it rains for nonskid. Awesome job big dog.

Hey Kyle, try Snaploc since you have the E-track on that wall. They make single connecters that have a ring and you can use their s-hook cam straps. I use this system on my box truck I use as a moving service. It’s affordable and makes my day easier. Also check out their dollies. Would help you move material around your job sites a lot easier. Hi Kyle! Yes it’s great to do cabinetry , custom finish and every once in a while a little framing. I am 62 did not become a production carpenter until 55 (I knew it was raised around it however my 1st career set me up to transition into my dream job). Your right your young and stout keep going and one day you can start that custom shop! You hv the mind for it, you enjoy math (a unquestionable skill a good carpenter must hv). Plus you see things before they are built ! You hv the shop! You need a 20” plus planer, 10-12 “ jointer and 3hp cabinet saw. The rest you hv! Set it up over time and start making customer pieces? Sideboards? Islands? Custom (huge) locking tables for those nice post frame buildings? Work benches ect.,. I don’t do full kitchens, although lots of money in them? I don’t like the pressure when doing kitchens? Just a thought? Thk u for the content Kyle! God Bless you & yours

Nice build, Kyle. Glad you addressed the likely need to secure the containers in the cubicles. I was thinking bungee cords might provide an easy solution if it becomes necessary. Affix one end to the top of the shelf, and stretch across the front of each cubicle.

You could use a black tarp bungee cord take hook off of one end use cab screw or some kind of screw on bottom through hook hole. Drill hole on top so you can pull mounted bungee from bottom and hook on to top hole. I did that with my 3/4 plywood shelving for all my Milwaukee fastener cases.

You are at the center of the best-value-per-square-foot residential home construction approach in the country right now I think. A proper installation of spray-foamed to the ceiling trusses, in a residential post-frame build, would be interesting to see. According to Spray Jones, full top-to-bottom closed-cell spray is best for post-frame as it works reliably for years and years. It would be interesting to understand the timing of wiring, heating / air-conditioning, spraying, outside air ventilation, etc. - for that system. As well: How would metal roof systems be affected by spray-foam to the ceiling? There would be no need to blow in 20-inches of insulation to just sit on the ceiling and make maintenance or repairs painful. Could we use cheaper, quicker to install, perforated sheeting on the roof with that system? Would you still need a wrap - or would foaming directly onto metal sheeting prevent condensation inside the building? Maybe there is a hybrid sweet-spot with wrap on the walls - and then spray directly on the installed roof sheets - is best? How does spray to the ceiling impact price - for insulation - and then for the whole construction installation?

Great lookin' project Kyle! With ALL those pack-out cases you'll have to come up with some kind of color coded sticker for the front of the boxes to know which pack-out is for what type tool... Green for drills? Yellow for staplers? Blue for? Orange? etc... Otherwise it'd suck having to go through 10+ pack-out boxes to find the home for every tool. Thanks for the video!!!

Kyle, if you need to secure those cubbies, here's an idea: attach a piece of angle at the bottom of a column. Use a bolt through an oversized hole to act as a pivot point. Notch the other end of the angle to align with a bolt at the top of the column diagonal to the bottom attachment. Use a wing nut to secure it while underway.

I agree, but probably just label the Pack Out itself with the contents, and then maybe a case number to tell you which shelf bin it goes on. Someone who really knows their tools will easily remember which case number has which tools in it, and then the fine print will be there for contents confirmation.

Maybe some hooks on the end panels to store things like harnesses so they don't get tangled, hold in place with a bungee across them if needed. A hinged strip might be the answer to hold cases in place if it becomes a problem (basically a 2" wide door)
