IMCA Northern Sport Mod. What is a good location for the RR spring on top. Meaning centerline of spring to centerline of the tire or brake rotor? Thanks
Sorry I don't understand the question, on an NSM the spring has to be on top and centered on the axle, I also think but not sure it is to straight down from the frame rail. This would mean that you are center line of both the tire and the rotor
Out here in Oregon with an 06 Terminator in the Street Stock class, both rear springs are in front. Seems to work fine but it's my first car like this.
I run a factory stock in Illinois.(ump) both springs are center. My chassis builder is very adamant about running a 13” (250) in the LR and 11”in the RR (200) I’m struggling with it bad super tight in the middle (like trying to turn the dump truck in wet sand)on the brakes, throttle brakes throttle I know I’m completely upsetting the car, but I cannot get through any other way. but he seems the think I’m over driving it in..I can’t wait for you to get the mapping video done because I’ll waiting to watch it.. I do appreciate you taking the time to do these videos it does help!!
So down here in the southeast we run what we call Hobby/thunder cars. Think of it as old late models that are Camaro clipped and we don’t have the top bars. 2 lower links and a biscuit bar. Most everyone runs lr in front on a slider and RR behind on a slider or coil over. We do typically run anywhere between 275-300lb RR spring rate. We also have a ton of dynamic steer in our cars. Up to 3- 3.5 inches so a spring on top never works. Tracks get really slick around here in the summer.
In the hot mod or b mod with spring on to center it says it has to be welded, I think that if there was a spring purch what if that maid a spring purch that was free so as the rear end loaded and unloaded the spring would stay neutral ?
We have not covered how important the color of the spring is and if I have a black spring, can I pair it with a brown colored coil over?!?! My wife says that black and brown do not go together...🤷
We have run a 175 in front on a grt a mod. Looking to switch to a 225 for this year. What are your thoughts on left to right location of the 4 bar links for indexing? Mark Bush had recommended running the rr top link pointed to the left at ride hight so you are always indexing into the spring as the car rolls.
This is a popular belief right now on RR upper bars, need to make sure the bar toe is never going into bind as it is moving. GRT has been a car that would have a 1.250” upper bar toe in it and lower bar not so much. I always thought in the back of my mind if that much movement on the rr was good for the car and driver. But you know if it works well in the mud it must be great.
