The RS2 or Rims Semblance is a wonderful little pattern designed to mimic a range of little emergers from midges to tricos. It can also be used to represent many other small insects as well and I am hoping that this little variation will tick the box for the small brown mayflies I get on my local rivers. I have been careful to be clear that this is a variation of the RS2 in the title of this video as it is quite different to the pattern Rim Chung designed in the 1970s but still has enough of the same features to fall under the category of an RS2. There are some wonderful videos online of Rim Chung tying the original pattern and I will include this down below as it is worth a watch as well. With that being said I hope you enjoy this video and find the pattern useful.
As mentioned in the clip if you are tying very small flies the best bit of advise I have is to go at it with a plan. Try to use only what you need for each stage of the fly. It is not necessary to use a mountain of dubbing and half a spool of thread to tie these. It is always easier to add more and harder to take materials back once they are on there. So think it through and try to keep it to a minimum with materials and you will end up with nicer finished product.....Well at least that is my thoughts on the matter.

Happy Tying Everyone.
Materilas:
Hook: Tiemco TMC101 (I have used a Kamasan B405 size 18 in filming as anything smaller was well out of the cameras range for filming but they are a good hook for the job as well)

Nice simply tie bro and I bet highly effective. Not sure my eyes can drop to a 26 without a magnifing glass :-)

I'd talk the same if there was or wasn't. I do film these at night after my wife has gone to sleep though and given a small apartment ill talk a bit quieter. Again though I'd do them the same if I was home alone. Don't see the need to yell into the microphone just talking as if I was explaining to someone across the table from me.

@@southofnorthflyfishing Crikey, hope I haven’t offended you, I was just slightly amused by your hushed delivery. Nice fly though. As a matter of interest, is the cdc supposed to help float the fly, or is its function mainly aesthetic? I ask because I often see cdc being used on sunk flies, and I always feel it’s a bit wasted in that role, given the expense. A bit of imagination might suggest a cheap, or even free alternative. Mind you, in this fly it’s really just a tiny bit.

@@callumclark3358 no offence taken at all 👍 CDC is used for nymphs as a collar etc for the way it moves with its floating qualities generally made obsolite by a bead head. The material itself comes from a glad at the rear end of a duck that secretes a substance that the bird uses to make its feathers water proof this makes it great for floating flies. Its a great wing material (or emerging wing in this case). Hope that explains it 👍
