They say that one is not truly dead until they are forgotten. Monty Oum will never be forgotten for his productions, his sense of fashion, his energized Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) dance moves, or his willpower fueled work ethic. God's totally going to lose at DDR against Monty. We will truly miss you Monty. As Caboose once explained, "He's just not here right now" . . .

The fact that they lost someone like Monty, yet the effect he had will continue to make them stronger every day- it proves this man was one of a kind, irreplaceable. Those of you who are fans of his but may not have heard yet, there's a kind of movement going on. It's to just do something creative, no matter what it is and put your entire soul into it. Monty wouldn't want us to go into a stagnant state on his behalf, he'd want us to continue to give this life we have our all. This is going to hurt for a long time, but that won't stop RT from moving forward. We will never stop missing you, Monty.

I.... had.. done something creative. I wrote up two OC teams for RWBY... like really, really in depth teams, with huge histories and deep personalities... I even came up with a second plot line for the series, to continue it afterwards, to work them into the series. I always meant to send it to either him or Kerry... but I never did. Mainly because I can't draw, just write... I regret that now.

Well... typing, but yes.... I tried. I have a ton of things just stuck in my head... Anime's, Manga's, games, DLC's for games, new movies, characters, creatures, weapons, almost anything. I just don't have anywhere to send them to, and I have no idea how to put them down. Even writing doesn't work... it makes them so pale.

I was thinking, what if the RT site page always had a RWBY Rose symbol in the corner of the page to remember Monty by. It wouldn't have to do anything, unless they'd like to make it clickable to lead to a tribute page or something. I was just thinking seeing that rose would remind everyone to always keep moving forward and never let anything hold you back in life.

If I lived just one day of my life the way he lived his everyday.. I'd be that much closer to achieving my own dreams and ambitions.. Through the loving, kind.. and thoughtful words of the community surrounding Monty.. I can honestly say that I've been truly inspired.. From this day onward, I'm going to work my ass off, be efficient and possible, and never stop learning.. Thanks, Monty..

This video has been sitting in my "Watch Later" list for 14 days now... finally brought my self to watch it. I may not have known him personally but It sure as hell felt like it. The way he was, the way he acted... he was just... Monty. Monty was an inspiration for all, he loved what he did, he loved life and it's sad that it ended so soon. But he graced us with his presence by bringing us RWBY and all the rest of his work and I feel honored to have known him. You will truly be missed by Millions, R.I.P Monty Oum.

A flame that burns twice as bright, burns twice as fast. I think it's an appropriate quote for Mr. Oum. I remember watching Haloid about... 6 years ago? Its so amazing that even though a lot of people in the comments (including myself) have never even had the privilege to meet Monty, yet we all shed tears and feel sad for his death. Why? Cause everything we saw of his wonderful creations and time in videos, all the stories we've heard of him, have showed us that this was a person who was focused and well loved. Who wanted to make something grand out of life, an inspiration for many. We all love Monty because even though we never met him we still connected with his work. That's such a beautiful thing, he may have died young and it may have been tragic, but I bet he was happy with what he had and what he did. RIP Monty Oum

Glad you guys posted this, I think it helps a lot of folks get over his loss. That might sound weird since we didn't know him. But Monty affected our lives without even having to know us. The Internet has exploded with love for his work and memory and stories of how he changed people's lives. We will miss him greatly but as Monty would want and we all should know, moving on and continuing his work is the most important thing now.......dwelling on his loss only lets the sadness burn deeper into our souls.

@agentwisconson
@agentwisconson 7 лет назад
No one in my house likes Rooster Teeth. So when Monty passed away, there was no one I could really talk to about it. "You didn't even know him, why are you so sad?" "It's not like you were friends." "No, you can't use my credit card to donate money to his wife. It's probably a scam anyway." Yeah, it was pretty awful to mourn alone. But when I watched this podcast for the first time, and heard them share stories about Monty and how he affected their lives, I realized that I wasn't alone. I had Burnie, Matt, Gus, Gray, a whole community of people who where mourning him. And just because we weren't in the same room doesn't mean we weren't together. And for the first time, I finally started to feel okay again.

I really dislike the logic of “you don’t know them, why are you sad?” Why do people get sad when a character dies? Because even if you don’t know them, you GET to know them. You learn who they are as a person, and you feel that loss when they’re gone. This goes even further for real people though. While in a work of fiction, although you feel sad, nobody actually dies. But in cases like these, it’s a real life that was lost, and you see other people you got to know reminiscing about the good times, mentioning countless times that they remembered a story by looking through his office, by looking at old photos, it becomes more real to us.

you know, i applied to rooster teeth like, the day before (or 2) before monty's passing was announced. i found monty right when he started getting popular on youtube and followed him ever since, and it was because of him that i was introduced to rooster teeth and enjoyed not only his, but rooster teeth's work as well. after about 8-9 years of working on my... everything monty does skills (video editing, modeling, art, animation, CG, Rigging, ETC), i finally felt as though i was worthy of working alongside or even under the man who inspired me to be who i am today. after hearing of his passing, i will continue to progress my skill level in everything that monty inspired me to do and also continue to send in applications to you (Rooster Teeth). regardless if i even get hired, just demonstrating to myself that i kept my promise to monty all those years ago to improve myself, will make me happy. thank you monty for your inspiration and thank you rooster teeth for helping him inspire and entertain all of us.

It's ok to shed a tear, it's ok to mourn, but Monty would want progress as they say over and over. We are the fans. We are the driving force of Rooster Teeth and we will support them with the love that has showered them since day one. Mr. Monty Oum, thank you for the hours, no days, of dedication that brought us happiness. Thank you for showing us what hard work can bring you. As Gray said, pain is temporary, heart is forever. Thank you. May you power down in peace.

Watching this now because I was 7 when Monty died and while I hadn't known much about him, I already wanted to meet him. I miss him and wonder constantly what he'd do today.

NY Comic Con 2014, I've had a chance to meet Monty Oum, I saw him at the rooster teeth table, interacting with fans, being awesome like he always is. Back then I thought just seeing him was awesome enough, he was such a talented guy, he accomplished so much, and he created amazing things; I thought to myself what a chump like me could say to a living legend. I'll admit, I was afraid to go up and ask for an autograph, or even shake his hand. In hindsight: I should have just started with: "How's it going." He is still a big inspiration to me as an artist, and I'm envious of people who can call Monty "friend." Best wishes goes out to the people who knew him best: his friends, the folk over at Rooster Teeth, and his Family And to Mr. Monty Oum, I say: "We will all miss you, rest in peace, brother."

I feel so terrible now. I just found out today that he passed away because I was looking up who worked on Rwby and below his name it said "until 2015" and I looked at it and found out about his passing. The only reason I knew who he was is because I seen an animated short with him in it. I wish I seen his work before hand and witnessed his glory. You will be missed Monty

The impact he made in my life was huge. I got to see Monty at RTX 2014, and got to speak with him. He told me that I'll get somewhere, and that struck me. Ever since then, I have been creating and producing more art and even appreciating it. I remember being a young kid in middle school and I was so mesmerized by Haloid. I have been a big fan of him ever since. When he started to work at RT, I think it was just fate. But seeing as he has passed, it left a heavy feeling inside of me. All he wanted to ever do in life is to create something and work hard to make something amazing out of it. He has definitely inspired myself and others. As he would say, keep moving forward. RIP Monty Oum, We love you.

Monty died when I was in New York for a funeral (long story) and I had basically lost interest in roosterteeth for a while by then. But for some reason his death hit me really hard. Harder than the death of the person whose funeral I was there for. I had never met Monty but he seems like a person who you would meet once and never forget about the meeting. Listening to this podcast I realize that, I want to be Monty. He was a hard worker and an amazing person and that's everything I aspire to be. May he live on forever in our hearts and minds.

Everybody's got swollen eyes. There must have not been a dry eye in the place all day. I lost my dad recently and know exactly what these poor bastards must have been going through sitting there trying to keep it all together. I haven't had the heart to touch any hobbies or anything creative since dad went. This reminds me that I really should try to pick things up again and try and make my dreams come true because there's only a finite time to do it in.

Monty is such a hard worker. Watching all these videos of him in it doing all these kind of things just brings inspiration to all of his fans. He shows his dedication in work to all these things. He moves efficiently, & speaks to keep moving others. I wonder what he is doing now in heaven. Probably teaching others the microwave trick.

I didn't know Monty personally but he's a person who's inspired me more in my life then I can truly comprehend I had the misfortune to never truly watch Monty's stuff until after he had passed I unfortunately found out about Monty through his passing but recently I discovered I've had Monty as an inspiration for years I watched Dead Fantasy never taking notice of it's creator until recently and through finding that out I discovered Monty has been one of the most influential people in my entire life Dead Fantasy was one of the pieces of media that helped me discover what it was I wanted to do, thanks to Monty I'm now on my path I'm doing what I love with sheer and endless determination and Monty is a big part of the reason behind that all I can do is say thanks now Monty and keep pushing forward a year on it's all we can do keep pushing forward and show you what we can all do. Missing you Monty hope your enjoying your down time you deserve it after all the work you did.

Watching this as someone every new to watching RT videos it has still brought a tears to my eyes. Someone with so much talent and love for live to be cut short. Scott Skinner It really depends on the day. Back then, I used to be Top comment on literally every video I would comment on. These days, it's very random. I'l get 1500 likes on a GTAV Lets Play but then 6 on a podcast. I'm not complaining in any way, because honestly I don't want to be top comment or likes. Granted it's nice because you get to talk with a lot of cool people and meet a lot of awesome fans, but it can get annoying especially when you get trolls or haters. Honestly, i'd be fine if i never got top comment again :) But really, I'm excited for goddamn shrove tuesday
