It looks like you need a seriously better antenna. I've made my own 10 legged ground plane Spider Antenna using nothing but 59 Coax, 220V mains electrical conduit assembled together without solder, using simple wire wrapping techniques to put it together. I fitted the spider into an upside down 1L plastic bucket to weather proof it & mounted it on a 5 meter fiberglass mast that's on my roof. It's been up and running for 2 years now that way and I pick up over 200 planes as far as away as Oxford and Paris and Hannover, all the way from The Hague. Total plane count per day is around 3000-3500 planes a day. FWIW, I run readsb & tar1090 - which is what ADSBExchange is based on, but I feed to FR24, FA and ADSBEx. Also, this is version 2 of that kind of antenna. Version 1 was a 4 legged spider using 58 Coax (less shielding) - and the performance increase from the second one was approx 20% - so even that kind of upgrade should get you huge reception benefit increases. I recently found some even better quality coax so I may do a Version 3 remake of my antenna. if so, I'll do a video of how I put it and the previous versions together. Version 1 I did in about 45 minutes. Version 2 I was more diligent about the measurements and tried to pull off more impressive wire-wrapping skills - so that took 3 hours. Yes, if I had all the connectors and flanges and soldered it all together, it would have been even better - but I wanted to see what was possible with using just scrap bits of material I had inhouse already and for Free. Thanks,good to know. I've only used a small piece of wire indoors while I'm installing the software on a new computer. I have the collinear 6 stubs + two 1/2 stubs and I have a shorted dipole but I think they fall short of what you receive. My detection of planes stops just before Paris Charle de Gaulle. Amount of planes detected seems similar though.
RTL1090 is an abandoned project. It is receiving 500 packets per/second in stats but nothing shows up. My RTL-SDRv4 works with everything except for this and the accompanying Flight Radar. SDR#, Dump1090 work just fine.
My guess is any sdr can be used with rtl-uvd. The military planes will only have the beacon on if they want to disclose their location. They will most likely be switched off.
Hello, I installed everything and works fine but it stops completely at 3:12 . And show no flight data. I also tried with dump1090 and it also show no flights at all. Much appreciated for the video.
