I love my 10/22 and I also love my AR-7! Henry fixed the issues of the old version and mine shoots without missing a beat! Very accurate, light weight, everything fits in the stock including two mags, and if it drops in the water, it will float! I believe it to be the perfect pack rifle. Also a great little truck gun. Slides right under the seat. Certainly not perfect, but nothing is. I just find it to be a fun little gun.
Nutn Thank you soo much for this Vid. After I turned 18 this was the first rifle I bought (Black/Tactical w/ threaded barrel) and have zero regrets and am so glad I can say this was my first rifle thanks to you.
I bought a Takedown 3 weeks ago. It's the blue, threaded barrel (11112) model. After the first range visit, I immediately ordered a new trigger, in my case the Kidd complete drop-in. I mounted a Leupold VX1 2-7 scope on it using a picatinny rail from Mountsplus. I ride a dual sport and an adventure bike and this gun is with me most of the time. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the review Nutnfancy, your bid was the tipping point that gave me the confidence to put money down on the rifle. Thanks again for all you do for the TNPers out there.
Finally got myself a 10/22! Been wanting one for years, for some reason I just never pulled the trigger....went with the takedown version in multicam. Will need to paint the shiny stuff though.
Thank you so much for reviewing this. I've been looking for one of these for the better part of a year, but it is good to know that when I do eventually find one they are up to the normal 10/22 standard.
I've been looking for a 10/22 since Christmas..finally found one last week when I was gettin ammo n it just so happened to be the Takedown model. Very impressed with the gun so far. Thanks for everything you n your whole team does Nutn
I am late to the game, but just bought my first Ruger 10/22, I bought this Take-Down version. On 1/10/15 $379 in Indiana, found it on sale, plus some gifts cards I bought it for under $300. Shot it within 1hr of buying it, LOVED IT. My friend bought the camo version at the same time, we both loved how it shot. We use Remington bulk pack and only had one or two failure to feeds. No stove pipes, failure to fire, etc. My POU was a backpack/motorcycle rifle for mostly plinking and random small game. As Nutn mentioned, 4lbs 12oz, so considered pretty heavy for backpacking, but I believe this Takedown is a better quality than the Henry. Nutn, always love your reviews and I frequently use your reviews, insights, and POUs to challenge myself on "why" I am about to purchase an item. You are a great resource and I appreciate ALL the time the Nutnfancy family puts into the TNP. God bless.
I heard about this rifle from another youtuber, but I want you to know that I purchased it because you were so excited about it. I love this rifle. It is my first 10/22 and I will never regret buying it. The picture on my channel is my three year old daughter shooting it. It was the first gun she ever shot and she loved it! Thank you for recommending this rifle.
Wifey & I both got the 10/22 TD's. And several 25, 25x2 & 10 rd. Mags, all Ruger factory. Hers is the funky camo, not sure what it's called & mine is mossy oak. We Love them. Gonna keep them simple, maybe a small red dot with QR mount. They are great (like you said) for BOK's. Got 4 mags, 500 rds ammo stored in ours. And yes, we go to your channel for the wisdom infused breakdowns on all our guns & gear purchases. Thanks for all you do.
I got my 10/22 as a present and I love it!! Nutnfancy is right, every man should have one. It has the most accessory options than any other gun, and works great. I have put a few aftermarket parts in it and the variety they give you is amazing. The accuracy of this rifle is outstanding, I can shoot a 1 to 1 1/2 in. group at 150 yrds. Get this rifle! Have fun, be safe.
Been wondering where you've been at. Nice to see you back. Thanks for all of the work. I ran into a TNP'r at the range last week, good times with like minded people!
Awesome review. Got my 10-22 takedown last month from Kaneohe Gun Shop here on Oahu. Danny Oshima is a great Gun Shop Owner/Manager. I am now a Nutnfancy fan!
i make my home in nevada now. graduated from college and never went home. glad to hear there's more than 1 gun shop on oahu. keep em down range brah peewee henson reno ,nv
The Ruger BX 25 is a superior magazine... by far. Superior build and less jamming. Not sure why Ruger took so long to make them. Excellent and honest review as usual.
The Ruger heirs were waiting for old Bill Ruger to pass on. For some unknown reason he was death on civilians having more than a 10 round magazine, and caught alot of flack for supporting the Clinton Crime Bill. Hell, when the Mini-14 first came out, it was only offered with a 5 round magazine. Anyway, during his lifetime he wouldn't approve production on any Ruger magazines over 10 rds.
ZERO94AIC The early Ranch model rifles with the wood stocks were solid, but the early Law Enforcement models with the fiberglass stocks had a reputation for the groups opening up as soon as the gun got hot. lol...maybe that's why the A-Team never actually hit anything! Now if they would only make a Mini-30 that accepts AK magazines instead of it's own expensive, hard to source proprietary ones, they would really have something, Ruger quality and an easy way to shoot cheap ammo.
simonferrer I had a Mini 30 a couple of years ago. It had exactly the same problem of spitting bullets everywhere after it heated just a little. Absolutely useless.
Grant McMillan The group widening issue was most likely the fiberglass stock flexing because it didn't have anything to stabilize it and it made the action move. Supposedly Ruger has fixed that with their new polymer stocks, and you can buy a metal frame stablizing piece for the old fiberglass stocks to correct the stock flex issue. Still it's an expensive rifle that takes only it's own magazines, so I agree with ZERO94AIC; for the money you might as well buy an AK and get a reliable platform.
I love how real you are nutn. The way you interact with you're family, friends and TNPers is amazing. You my friend are what I strive to be. A good man, husband and father. Humble. Loving. Loyal and a freaking badass! Thank you, you're family and everyone that helps you in the process of making these vids. Stay safe, have fun and pump out more vids! Love from California.
I had a takedown and it was not lined up properly. I've been a ruger guy a long time but this one is not as quality as some of the other earlier rugers. My buddy had a worse line up then II did. I love the idea but wish quality control was better off! Like the video man and been a fan for a lot of years. You do good work and I thank you. 5 out of 10 for me! You got a good one!!!
Awesome Star Wars collection, especially that B-Wing! I was hoping I'd somehow run into you while I was in Utah for snowboarding. I wanted to shake the mans hand who has made awesome videos and who takes the time to help me make better choices on products. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!
I got one with the MWG See-Through scope mount, Warne QR rings, Leupold 2-7X rimfire scope, Clark Custom trigger assembly, and Force handle. Love it!!!
I used to love how you could stand the star wars guys up with those little foot pegs inside the At-At..and then pull off the side plate so you can play as if you were inside with them. 80s toys rocked!
I just bought this rifle and love it. So fun to shoot and cheap to shoot too. My problem is I live in NJ and 10 rounds just goes way to fast...lol. Anyway keep up the reviews.
Stinks doesn't it, the gun laws just don't make sense and are unconstitutional. Jersey its a 15 round limit, just means I will have more magazines and it will not hinder the amount of magazines I own. Lets face it in an AR that only holds 15 rounds instead of 30 I buy the extra magazine to make the difference up...lol. Not saying I do this, but its very easy to modify a 15 round to a 30 round magazine. I also hate when third party groups that sell magazines glue the damn magpul together so you can't clean or let the spring out. An adjustable stock does not make a difference in performance either. Anyway my rant for the day...lol. Enjoy the 10/22 I love it and I bought the NRA exclusive and you get an extra magazine but its a 1 round clip, makes no sense but take it apart and file the plastic notch that is there and then you have another 10 round clip ;-).
M Glock I enjoy mine, made a few tricky things like charging handle exchange and release, mag. release extension, bolt stop buffer. smooth and nice. Thanks for your input.
Awesome intro nutn! I have always been curious what the review room looks like thanks for that! love the pro light light reflector to it shows that you go the exstra mile for us TNPRS!
Awesome Star Wars toys! I found a long buried Tauntaun from my childhood in the backyard not too long back. Thing must have been buried for about 30 years.
Looks like my office :D I have star wars lego ships hanging from the ceiling, halo figures above the gun bench, and more star wars toys on a shelf next to the gun bench. Keep up the good work nutn
Had to come back to this one to say thanks for this one. Ruger 10/22 is the all-time classic, and with the takedown model, I think that makes it an AWESOME bugout bag rifle... so now I'm shopping for one. Gee thanks lol... "TNP: Finding new ways for you to spend your money on stuff you'll love."
Just got mine today. New, factory blemish for $215. Awesome. No threaded barrel, but if I really need a suppressor it can be threaded. Now have to add the extended charging handle, auto bolt release, extended mag release, barrel band, trigger group, cammo duracoat, silencer, full auto conversion....
I have one - love it. The rifle and BX25's run great. 1). The case is too short if you have a scope mounted and leave it on the receiver. Fits but it's tight. 2). The plastic trigger is the worst part of the gun. Get the OE metal housing and trigger from Clark - while they last. Big improvement. Then polish up and you have a nice trigger. 3). I did the bolt release mod. For me, too much fiddling around otherwise. 4). I changed the plastic barrel band to a stainless one with side sling mount.
Its hard to believe it but I have been a gun owner/ shooter since the late 60's and have yet to own a 10/ 22. I have an excellent Marlin 99 which is a tack driver, scoped with a 6 x Weaver. Even have a Remington Nylon 66 that is a great shooter. Have had several Ruger products ( Mark I and two Mark II's ) but gave up my Mini 14 when a firing pin broke and Ruger told me that they would not sell me a firing pin and that I had to return the rifle so I sold it and bought an AR lower. I owe it to myself to get a takedown Ruger 10/22 for a bug out bag...just because. Your videos are long winded but cover lots of useful subjects and details so keep up the good work !
Glad to see a gun review from you. . . . and it was good to see it on the takedown. As for just throwing things up on the table, . . . it's real. Good for me! Thanks for the review!
I had one of those Tac inc. mags once (Before the days of BX-25). The key word is : HAD. Wasn't impressed. Like you said; Nutn; it was a pain in the patooty. Sold it. Great review. BTW: Met last suspect at the Blade HQ event. You should be very proud of that young man. Very polite, sharp kid! You did good.
I had that exact same Armored Car toy, it was for my GI Joes haha, and half the star wars toys for sue sure! I love that you saved them for their kids, I wish my parents did the same. Awesome review, awesome intro!!!
Great review as usual. I got my ruger td 2 days after they hit my local shop. After a few teething problems in the beginning the rifle has been otherwise reliable. I must say I love the td.
You're right lol I do have already and love it! Did mine in Alumahyde 2 Coyote and just received Tech Sights for it since mine's primarily a pack rifle. I'm glad you're still into gun reviews!
NICE! Time to start looking at smaller caliber rifles again since... :) ... Thanks for the push bro! I'll be grabbing one of these and a bolt .22lr soon.
Glad to hear it! I've also seen prices returning to normal.. I just picked up a gen 3 G23 for 499$ out the door. I was shocked to see it listed at pre hook tragedy prices. Hopefully the trend continues..it sure would be nice to see 500$ AK's again
i want my laptop in flat dark earth. i want my desk, my floor, my walls, my ceiling, my windows...you name it...in fde. want it! thanks for the look behind the scenes man. always like to see that!
just got mine last Friday (stanless steel black polymer stock takedown version) got to run 60 rounds through Sunday only one misfire with a really old box of rem golden bullets i am loving it cant wait to put the upgrades on it and its sad to say but its my first 10 22 and im sure there's more to come glad i got the takedown as my first
I have a RUGER TD...but finding one was extremely difficult and when I got mine...I got a bad apple and had to send it back to NH RUGER twice to correct issues that were just not acceptable for the price and difficulty of this rifle. But its finally good to go and RUGER has excellent Customer Service.
Just purchase my 10/22 TD today. This is my 4th 10/22 dating back to the early '90s. Only model then was the wooden stock with blued barrel and put a red dot on. Later I got one of the first synthetic stock models. Also blued barrel and scoped it. Errantly purchased a tactical without any iron sites. Using a 4 reticle illumated sight. Thought about retrofiting but would cost about $150 so just bought a backup sight. Decided on a TD in SS, since that is what is available and low/no maintenace.
Once again, another great firearms review. You can't have too many 10/22's, and here is yet another POU that can be addressed by the Ruger system. On the short list.
i have one, it eats everything. totally stock. if u use a weaver rail in place of the ruger one with it you will be able to maintain your iron site picture too with raised rings. well worth it for a 22
I just got to put a couple bricks through my 10/22 TDT in stainless (best of both worlds). I love it. Trigger feels like about 5 pounds. CCI standard velocity and high velocity both ran without a hitch from both BX-25 and Butler Creek steel-lip. Accuracy is as good as I get with iron sights.
Hi, nutn. Have you had any experience with the KIDD line of accessories for the 10/22? If so, do they compare favorably with the Volquartsen? I often hear the two companies mentioned in the same breath, and their prices seem comparable. I've been eyeing their "Trigger Job Kit." Thanks!
Great vid as usual . I particularly like u Savin the Star Wars toys for your grand kids ! Ur a good guy for that alone . Try the ruger 10/22 takedown with a Kidd , grn mtn , tac inn , hvy 16 in bbl in it . I bet you will keep that rig !
Very nice video Nutn. Had been looking for a TD for 90 days before asking a clerk at Dick's Sporting Goods if they had any (none were on display shelf). He said, "yes, we have 2 in stock and get them from time to time". He went on to tell me me they don't put them on the shelves because they are in 2 pieces. I shot 400+ rounds of Remington Golden Bullet bulk at an "Appleseed Project" shooting event over the weekend and only had 2 jams (on last round in mag) using BX25's.
I've been waiting for this one. Almost bought one before the shelves went bare but was short on cash. Went back the next week with the money, but they were all gone. Haven't seen one since. Still on the look-out for it. Starting the video now. Let's see if you're stoked about it or not.
I think the ruger charger is a great BOB pistol, especially if you customize it to your needs which is easy for any 10/22 action, but the charger is much lighter and smaller in stock. I modified my charger and take it out hiking often, never used it except once to ward off a big cat in largo canyon, NM. It's a louder 22 pistol since the barrel is much shorter. Didn't need to senselessly injure the beast.
We have a marlin, and I think it's a great bugout rifle. Had this since I was a kid. My dad found a 20rnd mag at a gunshow years ago, and it still works great. Just having a hard time finding 22lr
