Just cleaned my new 5.7 the same way and have not even fired it yet. Taking it out this weekend. Just wanted to make sure it was properly cleaned and oiled up. Was surprised the barrel had some black after 3 patches went through it.

Thx for a great vid. Have yet to clean my 57. Been searching for polymer and or nylon picks for this smaller caliber firearm. I appreciate that you have detailed response about them. Got some on the way. Did you encounter any hiccups thru your 500 rds ? Any FTE, FTFs ? Magazine issues ?

You should let the CLP do the work. Put a light coating on slide, rails of frame, and inside/outside of barrel. Walk away. Come back in ten minutes and wipe away excess. Blow out frame with light compressed air. Wipe down recoil spring with dry cloth. Spray with Rem Dry Lube. Done.

Best way get copper lead remover for the barrel and spay the whole inside of the gun. Then oil the whole think . More oil the better

The rifling of the barrel only goes in one direction and you dont wanna reverse that motion. Could lead to problems.

I just bought my ruger and it’s starting to rust and I haven’t even shot it yet..would oiling the slide like you did work to get the rust off?

It’ll help, but rust is tough to remove. Oil it and scrub with a cloth pad.

ive always used "Rig Grease" itll soak into the metal and literally push the rust out and help seal it out. and a little goes a looong way

My ruger 57 will not shoot after reassembly. I disassembled it and I noticed the hammer doesn’t sit flush with the hammer mechanism that releases the hammer. Is this an easy fix or should I call a gunsmith?

I typically clean them every few range trips. If it's a carry firearm then clean it after every range trip to make sure she's well maintained.

WoW!, you leave a lot of oil on the rails! I was always told to use only a few drops on a patch. I use mili-tec for the rails. Firearm instructors I have had throughout the years warn that all of that oil left could cause the rounds to malfunction if your store the gun loaded in a holster. I would catch hell if an armor was checking my weapon!

Clp is not good for copper fouling at all . Will not get copper fouling out the barrel

I’m gonna ask my daughter what gun she has cause I don’t remember what I wanted to tell you the truth. Her brother has been helping her clean it etc. but would be cool did you know check your RU-vid out and see if she has what you’ve posted video one or something similar enough. I love to shoot, but I hate to clean my guns. So, I clean all my pistols' slides/barrels and rifles' bolts in ultrasonic cleaner. IMO, 5.7 is over-hyped unicorn caliber. Good luck with finding ammo now! Moreover, Ruger 57 is unsafe to carry with loaded chamber. See Owner's Manual, page 21. Also, widely reported spongy trigger, flimsy sights, stovepipes, etc., etc. Glock 19, loaded with 95 - 147 grains, rules!
