I have the FNH Five Seven MkII. And I can say when he said "spend a day at the range" I about fell over. Unless 5.7 has had a huge drop in price , I won't be spending a day at the range. Now that Ruger has come out with the 57 I expect ammo will eventually go down in cost. Seriously thank you Ruger. And I personally love Rugers so much I will be getting one of the 57's because.. I can. Now Ruger needs to come out with a carbine in 5.7X28 . And while they are at it they should call what will be the Marlin manufacturing area and say we are ready for some Marlins. Especially if one of them will be the very awesome 39. Thank you for the upload and you are welcome for the 10's of thousands of dollars I have spent on Rugers over the past close to 40 years. But seriously thank you. Ruger is not only a huge company. They also have one of the finest customer service of all I have ever dealt with. Let's go Brandon!

Here's the guns that need to come out in 5.7x28 and use Ruger magazines if we want the catridge/chambering to become widely and commonly adopted: Ruger 5.7 magazines in 30 and 40rd sizes. Mp5.7 - an mp7 clone in 5.7x28 that takes Ruger 5.7 mags, comes with a telescoping pistol brace, and is available on the civilian market. See the CMR30 for a low budget .22mag version from Keltec. Make a pistol and rifle version with a 16" barrel. CMMG Banshee 5.7 - make a version that takes Ruger 5.7 mags. Shouldn't take much work. Ruger PCC 5.7 - takedown carbine. Pretty obvious how and why. Probably the most likely incoming. Ruger Charger 5.7 - Ruger really needs to make a Charger pistol version of the PCC on both 9mm and 5.7x28. An 8" barrel on a pistol with a brace would be an ultimate backpack/truck gun and would be VERY popular amongst CCW holders, campers, and survivalists. Basically the PDW market can, as a whole, be revived and expanded for the U.S. civilian market by this chambering if companies approach it intelligently.

@ericj6636
@ericj6636 4 года назад
@@chase_h.01 Yes but if this takes off in popularity and other companies adopt it or Ruger expands their 5.7x28 offerings into civilian PDW's then it might become common enough to land around a similar niche and price to 357 sig and 10mm. If we're lucky, maybe even like .40 and .45acp. All depends on how popular this gets and who else follows suit

I've owned one for a month. Large groups, trigger slap, and mushy, mushy trigger. Ammo is currently close to $30 for 50; way more than 9mm or 45. I may take the loss and trade in at my LGS. Best feature is that it has been very reliable. Notable reviewers not sponsored by Ruger tend to agree with these points. I was enthusiastic and expecting the best, but not for me....

You and me both. I contacted Ruger about the possibility but they politely responded and told me that as as a matter of policy they don't comment on future products/accessories in that format (email, I guess). So, I guess we are left guessing. I'll hold off until such an option is available. Even without subsonic ammo, I've heard shooting 5.7 is a heck of a lot of fun with a suppressor. I just wish there were companies out there that would regularly produce subsonic 5.7 loads.

The big problem with this ammo in self defense situation, is that, it's slim and fast. Which means it goes through easily and can hit others behind the targeted person. Secondly due to being slim, it doesn't have stopping power. That's where .40 or .45 shine, where the bullet stays in and all the energy reflects the target. And that's what you want in self defense, to deliver stopping power.

Ya know, the .22 mag is a great little light weight cartridge and is powerful enough to be a good choice as a kit gun, like the 3 inch LCR. However rimfire does have some reliability issues, depending on the manufacture. So, why not introduce a LCR in 5.7x28? Center fire reliability yet still a light weight cartridge with a little extra power over the. 22 mag.

@Mr Bones Not completely, compacts are more usually for closer than 10yds shooting. The 5.7mm will still slice through a Level IIIA vest at that distance and be plenty lethal yet, even with a shorter barrel. That being said, if someone came out with a 5.7mm bullpup pistol, like Bond Arms has, that keeps the 5" barrel length while shortening the overall package, that would be my ideal sci fi blaster.
