G’Day mate, my GSR Ruger stainless with synthetic stock is my ‘wannabee’ LE No 5 Jungle Carbine. I have owned 3 x Jungle Carbines in my life and I love their concept for hunting. The only problem is that .303 re-loading components are harder to find these days. .308 on the other hand is everywhere and anywhere. Components for .308 bullets are plentiful. Life is Good!! All the Best!!

You need to try a Leopold 2.5x scout scope with quick release rings it really completes this rifle

It is a real fun gun. Got a Vortex 2-7 Scout Scope on mine with safari ching sling. They seemed to have come away from the metal box magazine as mine came with 2 ten round polymer mags. Can’t speak too much on accuracy as it’s only had PPU through it but it’s very capable up to 400m so far at silhouettes & gongs.

The 450 bushmaster is for states in the US that are straight wall only.

I think for it to be a true 'scout rifle' it's supposed to have a long eye relief scope on that rail with fairly minimal zoom, say 4- 6 x ensuring the breech is left clear for single loading in a hurry and that you have a wide field of view. I have used the the Styr one, the first commercially made, but I found it to be a little gimmicky and fragile especially their attempt at a built in bipod. The Ruger looks very nice for what its meant to be, not that I am usually a fan of Ruger!

I use the Magpul AICS mags. They work perfect.

It's lovely. But I don't know. Too much for fun. I would rather having something German for actual use as the M77 bolt is tres stiff. Isn't interesting in itself like say SMLE or K31. But yes it is lovely.

@@frankfisher99 nothing stopping you buying direct from the usa and exporting it ! it wouldnt came under ITAR since its a bolt action !

For me shooting is all about being dynamic, I shoot UKPSA and I wanted something I could could in a similar fashion but .308. Mine is kitted out with a vortex crossfire long eye relief scope, Lantan dragon and Vtac quick adjust strap for this purpose. Piccy i.imgur.com/FyP2CeO.jpg

A Ruger Scout in 7.62x54r and 7.62x39 would bei amazing. A perfect pig / plinking rifle Witz verry cheap ammo.
