It's hard to believe this is your first video. This is by far the most detailed video I've come across of the, Ruger SR1911. Very well executed and good shooting. I look forward to seeing more from you.
Great video. Today I walked into our local Sportsman's Warehouse and they'd just received 4 SR1911's, now they're down to 3. The gun feels like one solid hunk of stainless steel, not a bunch of assembled parts.
One of the best videos I have viewed to grade a firearm. I have the Ruger SR1911 in the Talo edition and also own a Kimber Pro model. I can't decide which one I like better. Having said that, I have seen many videos on You Tube and rate this among the best.
Good review crucible arms. I bought this pistol and I am very happy with it. Thanks for showing how to take apart a 1911. This is my first 1911. Thanks and have a good one.
I just picked up a new Ruger 1911 yesterday 8/9/13, took it to the range not to specifiably check it for accuracy but to run some target grade ammo though it to check for any problems. It was flawless, Next time I will do the sighting in. One day of ownership and the bonding has begun, great gun !!!!!!!!!!!!
Unbelievable 1st vid!! Informative review done better than many other gun channels ever get. Seen many of your other vids before this one, keep up the good work.
Thanks what a great review on that gun.? After of about a Year's waiting till I finally found one available.? I love mine.? Again thanks for the honest & great review.
I looked high and low for this gun, finally settled on the fact that I would have to get in line with the rest of the herd and order one. But I sleep better knowing I have my name on the secound one on order as soon as it comes in...can not wait. I got to say, your review is probably the best I've seen on this gun. Job well done, thanks for posting.
Good vid. Good info and like you took us to the range as well and not just talk about the gun. I am tyring to decide which 1911 to buy and it may be this one. Thanks for the vid.
i enjoy the video thank you good job,,,well i have to said that i a'm very lucky to own a SR 1911,,,and yes you right is a very nice, nice gun,,,hope to see more videos of the SR 1911, in the future,Thank you very much
I finally Fired my new Ruger 1911 after 3 month of buying it. Worked flawlessly. Put about 80 to 100 RD`s through it. Handled nice and felt well balanced.
@Gurpyaara You are right, there were earlier prototypes of the pistol prior but the final M1911-A1 design wasn't approved until 1911 after testing and modifications asked for by the U.S. military.
I wrote Ruger and have been told that they have recently doubled their production rate and soon will be tripling the production rate. Based on the serial number of the SR1911 that just showed up for one of my customers and my own that I purchased two weeks after its release, they only produced around 10,000 in the past 11 months.
It seems they're slowly but surely becoming more available. Not easily available yet but I've been able to snag some for customers in as little as 5 to 15 working days lately.
Great video, your review and Hickok45's videos about the SR1911 really made a powerful impression on me as a prospective buyer. I only JUST discovered how rare these pistols are to find these days. I am more interested and intrigued by this model with each day! Have a nice compact Kimber 1911 Ultra Ten II ready to trade towards the full size Ruger 1911.....now I just need a seller in PA! Great vid man....keep 'em coming
I do remember seeing a good while back a company that made a kinda disposable scratch guard to prevent the "idiot scratch". Wish i could remeber where i saw that.
BEAUTIFUL VIDEO, GEORGEOUS PISTOL REALLY.... VERY PROFESSIONAL CAMERA WORK, WITH HD CLARITY. RUGER HAS THE BEST OVERALL QUALITY IN WORKMANSHIP AND FINISH IN THE USA, RIGHT NEXT TO S&W.
For a first ever video, I find no fault. I also totally agree with your comment about the Ruger SR1911 having "everything you'd want in a 1911 - and nothing you don't". I'm sure John Moses Browning would approve of of this rendition of his design.
Good video! Helped to convince me to get one from my brother, who recently got it but never fired it. Haven't seen it yet but he lives 3 miles away. Going there soon as I finish this comment. By the way good shooting!
@Oughriend You're right on both counts. I hate when I don't get it right. I knew both of those to be facts but when you're shooting live you don't always catch all your gaffs. I want to make sure I'm passing along correct information so thanks for the help. I use the thumb safety for my right thumb when I shoot the 1911. It just feels like a natural place to put it for me. Personally, I'm not a big fan of add on finger groove grips but a lot of people like them. Thanks for the comments!
I bought my Rugar SR1911 when it first came out not a single problem It was a great buy and it is the best 1911 for the price Keep up the great work Rugar and thank you for such a good review. Dan
Nope, no rail version or ambi version yet. It's been all they can do to supply this initial version. Hopefully that's easing a bit and they can get on to other versions but I'm not holding my breath.
The Marine Recon units use the M-45 which is a variation of the 1911. It's not an a1. Also, the Navy Seals use the MK25. The civilian version is the P226, not the P228.
I've been looking for one of these for awhile now. I couldn't wait any longer, not knowing how long the wait would be, and I bought the Springfield Armory Range Officer. But I'm still not giving up on the SR1911. I WILL have one in my collection when they finally come around.
I want one. Can't really afford one at the moment and I already have a 1911 but the SR1911 seems to have all the features one needs. None of the series80 nonsense or ambidex awkwardness. That said I like the curved main spring housing better, that's one thing I'd probably replace.
Funny u ask. I just picked up the para black ops about a week ago. Never cared for para much but when I saw that bad boy and all it's features I was sold instantly! I haven't made a vid in forever so hope to do a little review of it soon!
I just bought this gun. My first 1911! I was amazed at how little it recoiled, and how easy is was to handle with it being a .45 ACP. I absolutely love this gun!
watching this video just cost me $750... but i believe it will be money well spent. I just recently ordered a kimber stainless II so im interested to eventually get them side by side and compare them. Great video format very informational will be tuning in for your upcomming vids
Definitely still tough, but its worth the wait if a shop will allow you to order it in. My local shop gets about 35 in every couple months, posts that they are in on their facebook page, and are sold out within a couple hours of the posting. Its crazy and an amazing gun from the few I have handled so far while I save up for my own.
love the video, it was very informational from me, I've been watching several videos of the ruger 1911. it's paid for I just have to go back and pick it up, that is 1 beautiful handgun, can't wait to shoot. what everyone said it was a really hard going to come by, I had given up for got about it, until I got a phone call from the dealer, didn't have the money at the time but but I scrape it up, because I knew if I didn't get it right away it would be gone, and I have to wait again.
Keep calling Cabela's. Our local store got four in last Friday, two Commanders and two full size, and not one of them made it into the showcase. You almost have to call, or be there as soon as they open. Its worth the trouble, though. Good luck.
Personally, I prefer the Ruger over the SA's. Nothing wrong with an SA. I want to be clear on that. I just prefer the feel, fit, finish and function of the Ruger SR1911 better. The Ruger is clearly a great value for the money. IMHO
Yes, Ruger SR1911 are for sale to civilians, I just purchased one which, as you know, is not on the CA Roster of Approved Handguns but few dealer's in NorCal are selling "off-list guns", including Glock gen4, Sig Sauer's, AR's and many others weapons NOT on the Roster, they're doing what its called, the "single shot exempts" and they can make just about any pistol into this configuration, well at least in NorCal. The only problem now is that there is not to many SR1911 available from Ruger.
If you look hard enough and talk to enough people you can find these guns at a good price. You will likely be on a waiting list, but there is always a way. I would definitely recommend the Ruger as your 1st 1911, it was mine. I got on a waiting list at a pawn shop about 20 miles from my home. Brand new, 599.99 and I waited about 4 weeks for them to get to me. I haven't seen anyone come even close to that price, but they're out there.
I'm considering the Ruger, Remington or Springfield. Maybe a Rock Island, although I realize that the RI isn't in the same category as the Springfield, Remington, or Ruger. Great vid! Thanks.
From Ruger: The Ruger .45 Auto pistols are chambered for the .45 Auto cartridge and are compatible with all factory ammunition loaded to U.S. industry standards, including high-velocity and hollow-point loads, loaded in brass, aluminum or steel cartridge cases, as well as +P ammunition. .45 Auto ammunition manufactured in accordance with NATO, U.S., SAAMI, or CIP standards is within the design limits and known to function in these pistols.
Excellent video. I to own the Ruger SR1911 and love it. Really appericate the detail in explaining the firearm to those who are in the market for this pistol.Keep up the great work.
