I have a 2+ year old Talo Edition SR1911 Night Watchman that I converted to 460 Rowland. That was after 1500 rounds of .45 ACP without a single FTF. After another 1200 rounds of 460 Rowland and another 500 rounds of .45 ACP, I am still very happy with this pistol. I have always had good experience with the function and ruggedness of Ruger Handguns (mostly revolvers), this one is no exception.

I've got 4 Colt's including a stainless Gold Cup and a brace of Ruger SR1911 Lightweight Commanders(.45ACP & 9mm). I honestly cannot see spending any more money than I have on these guns for a true custom piece. Some will always want a Ferrari over a Corvette and if they've got the extra money, more power to them. Enjoy. Mine work fine. Working man, working man's guns.

You can't go wrong with the sr1911 Rugar. The barrel and slide are stainless steel so they won't wear out . It has the skeletontized trigger, open hammer, novak sights, and beautiful diamond walnut grips. It is Rugar's 1st 1911. (2112). Rugar competes with Smith @ wesson and Colt by building stuff that doesn,t wear out. We love ours .

Man thanks for the 2 yr review. I have one and its bran new. I was wondering if the ruger 1911 was as tuff as my GP 100. i feel so much better now and this gun will be passed down to my grandkids grandkids. So far ruger has never let me down yet. God bless everyone here and God bless America.

I just received this pistol as my 21st birthday gift. After doing a lot of research (your videos included) I chose this as the first pistol to be in my name, and man does it ever shoot like a dream! Couldn't be happier with my first pistol.

ive had mine for a year and a half and it has never once jammed or had any malfunctions. Zero. 2000-3000 rounds estimated and it is going great. Ive owned 5 1911's (1 Kimber, Remington R1, 2 gov model Colts) and this one is just as every bit as good as all of them. This review is spot on

I love to hear the 1911 rattlething. The original 1911 that has been in so many wars was made with slight loose tolerances knowing that it was going to adverse conditions. The rattle is not a bad thing

Glad I saw this video. Was in the gun shop yesterday and was looking at 1911s. Was iffy about what I wanted to get and decided to go with the SR1911 4.25. Had a little snag with the paper work but will get cleared soon. Hopefully I will enjoy it as much as you have.

Yes, it is. Ruger has been making 1911 frames for years for other manufacturers. One of the things I really like about this one is that the plunger assembly housing is cast directly into the frame. So, no chance of it coming loose over time.

Fantastic handgun. I also purchased mine in 2011 for the 100 year anniversary of the 1911. Just as you said, "It has a bunch of features you want, no features you don't want and an awesome price for what you get". I don't have as many rounds through mine as you, but what a nice shooter. I would definitely recommend this handgun to anyone who is considering a 1911...

I recently bought one, Right out of the box, from 10 metres I was able to put 8 rounds into a 3" target using 230 grain copper jacketed blazer ball ammo. Absolutely love it! great sights. I've shot several hundred rounds out of it so far, cleaned it once. I use chip Chip McCormick 8 round Power Mags. I also have the ten round Mags as well, I've only used them in my Colt.

Thanks for the initial AND follow up vids on this fine firearm. My duty guns and personals have always been revolvers or DA semi's. I joined the 1911 family a couple of months back when I picked up a Llama Mini Max 9mm (CCW) and have enjoyed getting to know it. I came upon a used SR 1911 a couple of days ago and while I knew it was a solid "tack driver", it is good to hear about fit, finish, quality and durability. Looking forward to see if you've done anything on the Beretta 92 series- shush, don't say anything to the wife... Hooah!

I have the SR1911 CMD and have really come to love it. Shoots ragged holes at 15 yards for most 1911 shooters. Only malfunctions I've had with it came with steel cased ammo! Did add Hogue wrap around black rubber grips and Wilson ext. slide release and now it just becomes an extension of your arm. Still waiting for my squibb!

I managed to get my SR1911 in 2011 , and I have put countless rounds through it. My two year review is that it still works as good as the day I brought it home. It has a few holster scuffs on it but that is the price you pay when you carry. My Ruger has a slight rattle but it did the day it came out of the box. anyone who wants a 1911 should seek the Ruger , it is a very fine firearm .

Haa' I was watching your other 1911 ruger vid. you said you live up the street from the gun shop. you are familiar'. something in my head said your from Minnesota, and now I find out you are. Cool! I live in Roseville. I go to bills gun shop and range in circle pines. I have been a Sig fan, but this Ruger 1911 .45 is VERY NICE from all the reviews I watched. I bought a Sig 1911-22. 1911's are now my favorite gun! love the feel in my hands and the accuracy. Was thinking of a Sig nightmare or tacops, but now I am considering this Ruger. Were talking $1,000+ for the sig, whereas the ruger is 100% made in USA and from what I seen to be about the $700 price range. Great vid! Thanks!

Good video as usual! Tanks for Sharing Kevin, you and I have very similar tastes in guns. My short list is the CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow in 9mm, the PPQ 4" in S&W 40, and the Ruger SR1911. I see you have owned all 3 so I'm looking foward to hearing more about the copies you have and your experiences. I guess I should get a Glock 17 too just to keep my friends happy! lol

I saw this beautiful firearm at Bass Pro the other day, LOVED how it felt, came back and started looking for reviews (I research EVERY major purchase to death) ... every review has great things to say about it, and in a few hours, I'll be there when the doors open to purchase my own Ruger SR1911. Out of curiosity, though, what didn't you like about the grips? This will be my "fun gun", not my EDC (which is a Glock 27) and I can't wait to shoot some paper with it!!!

Thanks for the review. I've always been intrigued by the SR1911. I am, however, extremely surprised that you had such a bad experience with the MR 1911. Your experience seems to be VERY atypical. I bought one based on the many many rave reviews on it. I am very impressed with it. Crisp safety and crisp 3.5 pound trigger pull. It is extremely accurate. Slide to frame fit is very tight. In fact, most who compare the MR 1911 and SR 1911 say that the MR 1911 has a tighter fit.

Jim, that's a bit of an apple vs. orange question. A 1911 is very distinctive. The SR9 is more of a generic polymer/steel, striker fired, service pistol. They really don't compare well. The 1911 is iconic for its history, caliber (traditionally 45ACP), ergonomics, and being a single action only hammer fired pistol. Most people struggle with which 1911 to buy. It's not comparative to any other design imho. Thanks for watching.

I have a Rock Island 1911 in 10mm and it has no rattles at all, but my old Colt Double Eagle in .45 rattled like a baby rattle. It was so loose I didn't own it for more than 6 months before I sold it to get a P220 Sig. I love 1911's but they can't rattle or I will hate it. Glad to hear the Ruger is tight.

Purchased mine two weeks ago. I was looking at the S&W PC with the lightening cuts (impossible to get). This is my first 1911, but not the first I've handled. A lot of the same features as some of the Kimber's, but $300 less. I would take this thing into battle any day. I have several Rugers, but I tend to remain pretty impartial. But I don't buy crap guns either as one gets what they pay for. In this case, you get more than what you pay for.

My first time to the range I had 7 malfunctions out of 100 rounds with Norma 230 grain FMJ factory ammo. My second time to the range I had ZERO malfunctions out of 100 rounds using Federal 230 grain FMJ factory loads. The down side, it took twice as long to clean the gun using the DIRTY FEDERAL AMMO.
