I unironically would love basically this exact game for every single region. Seeing the stories and how the champions' abilities would be animated or how their mechanics would work? Just...YES please
I'm not sure I would play the exact same game 9 times buddy. I personaly got fatigue toward the end and was impatient to get to the next boss fight while doing my 100% run. It's a great game but I wouldn't push bad idea for the sake of the creator like making 9 times the same thing.
@@Golden_A I mean I wasn't going for a 100%. I was just casually playing and enjoying myself. Not everyone goes for 100% and I feel like doing so can burn people out on a LOT of games, it's not unique to this one. And nothing is saying in future games that they wouldn't evolve the formula. I'm not saying I want this game, unchanged, unevolved. I'm saying this game could easily be the first in a series for me. Like how Final Fantasy was the first in ya know, the Final Fantasy series
@@0MidnighttheDragon0 I wish they could go for the void, I mean it's underated when it comes to lore but that's one of the point why they shouldn't start with it ;(
It just occurred to me, that without delays Ruined King would've set some impossibly high standards for the SoL event and it would've been even more damaging to the Ruination
true, but if it was possible for the RK to go live on time it would mean the SoL event would be able to get the time and money to be good as well, so there is a chance it would deliver
@@maciejpawe3700 the event's problems don't really look like budget issues, and it released on schedule, RK was supposed to release early 2021 and the event happened mid 2021 so even if it got out early I doubt it would've influenced SoL in a positive matter, the way SoL came out is the way Riot intended it to be
@@maciejpawe3700 The issues of SoL were beyond schedule issues/covid, they were fundamental directional issues such as the form of the event/the format, the heavy focus on chosing champs that sell skins despite not making sense lore wise to be included, choosing a world ending global event to be told through a client in the span of 1 month whearas the set up in the Ruined King game spent a tenfold in terms of time to set it up, the Ruination event should've been gotten multiple seasons of Arcane with much more characters and more importantly, just done much later as 60% of the champs in the universe aren't up to date with the current time line, this story line shouldn't have been attempted until at least 5 years from now.
actually a point i like to add is that the enemy champions you fight feel like equals.... they even got ultimate abilitys with the same animations as you .... that is such a great attention to detail
He likes him by the end, they even travel to noxus together once the quest was done. But that’s saying something as pyke got closer quicker to broum then yasuo did. it was surprising how close pyke got to anyone. I will add a coviot to this though. Nobody truly liked Sarah and ahri was a right pain in the ass in the beginning.
yasuo dint hate braum... he hated how ...pushy he was hell even when brom gets K.O yasuo says : "the place will be quiet with out you" he actually likes the man and also when they first spoke off yasuo sayd :"you can stay ... if you sit quitly" he liked but yasuo is not the type of guy to express that
@@aeroanosupremo The more Shurima's pantheon expands, we could definitely see Panth taking on more Ascended and Darkin in such a story line. I'd at least like to see Panth face of against Renekton.
Ruined King was so much fun. The best parts to me were definitely the music, conversations and character developments (those developing relationships were just chef's kiss). Totally agree with your review and I'm hoping to see more games like this in the future for sure!
it is also great for us darkest dungeon fans, its sequal came out but ruined king feels even better (on heroic) as a sequal than the actual darkest dungeons, So we turn based fanboys got something out from it too. I hope riot will continue.
so then play battle chasers :) i am downloading ruined king now since i saw its the same people that made them and they look alike... battle chasers was great... around 30 hours of gameplay
@@darkodarko9 Oohhh, I didn't know about that. It definitely looks similar. I'll have to check it out once I get the chance. Thanks for the recommendation!
Necrit1: How can we make this video be thematically tied in Bilgewater? Necrit2: Get this. A gun. As a mic. I'll say it again. A gun. As a mic. Necrit1: You're a genius! 😂
@@chainsawboy2388 by themselves no one will notice that it's the same boss as the one Necrit censored... It can be any boss for people who haven't played the game but if someone points it out there's a 80% chance they will go back to watch it even if they don't want spoilers... It's basic human instincts
I agree with the side quest issues that were bought up but I love how your decisions impacted the side quest. Ex: when you have the choice to tell someone who killed his brother or not
Really looking forward to the absolutely """spoiler filled""" complete analysis of the story/interactions between champions/ items and hidden lore since I most likely won't be able to purchase the game.
@@nechocat1234 Its single player story adventure with BotW looking artstyle. You know, something what would way more people play instead of management games as they push for younger audience.
This game is amazing. I'm just now working my way through the shadow isles, and I've played a lot of RPGs over the years. This game hits every note of my RPG lover, plus more.
i played on the switch version. Unfortunatly had some bugs and crashes. Also the map loading took very long. But overal a masterpiece of a game. I hope you will make some videos about the lore and some journals.
I got the ruined king for christmas, I now have 40 hours spent on it, and the soundtrack is 10/10, especially thresh's theme slapped as I slapped him. I too have encountered interesting bugs, such as replicating side quests or even getting stuck inside stairs. But the best part of this entire game, was using Illaoi's first ult, or as I like to call it, the "Yeet & Delete".
I love how you blur out the boss and then proceed to show it fully later on xD great review though! I love this game and im recommending it to friends, I really hope they do this with other regions/stories/etc
If Riot is planning more games with a different style i'd love a game like Uncharted with Ezreal as a main character, mainly because Ezreal lore is practically writen by Ezreal. His character doesn't make much sense right now. Yes, he's a kid looking for fame in order to find his parents, but he's also an upper class piltovian breaking in cursed tombs. How much about him is talent, arrogance or luck? Is he really just a jerk? He coould be such an interesting character along with Ryze since both have traveled so much...
@@berryman5145 Probably a game like Diablo cause any 3D would need a lot of budget. I am waiting for arcane to flesh out most of LoL locations and game devs would have an easier time.
I'd love to see Ex's adventures in shurima. friending allies in there tto grab treasures and learning (and possiably fighting) nasus, renekton and azir. maybe a bit of the brakern as well
Honestly really enjoyed the game, the story was fun, combat was a dream and really rewarding to master, the thing that really held me back from super loving this game was the bugs, I played on PC last week and unfortunately had a few bugs ranging from the disappointing (Miss fortunes third ult not loading properly leading to a ghost ship and no damage numbers half the time) to the game-breaking (I didn't get to see the end cutscene because it just would not progress past Yasuos first line in the bar) hope they get it fixed because the game is good and worth the money. as long as it works
Justa a thoght, imagine a game like Cultist Simulator, where you have to develop or discover a comspiracy, but in Noxus. You could try to join the Black Rose, get haunted by a demon or even try to murder a noble woman who is the wife of a blood mage that is your lover so you two could run away and you can finally tric him to use his powers to revive your real true lover and together you could march on your nemesis. Anyway, just a thoght..
I was so EXCITED for this!! THANK YOU! I can’t actually get the game myself and therefore both your Twitch streams and this video have at last fulfilled everything I could have asked for!!
Love your review!!! i love how you bring all these points up and explain small details for us to show the more in depth opinion of the game!!! PLEASE do a review/gameplay with spoilers so i can see your thoughts on the game and talk about all the lore so that if you dont have the time to go through the whole game we can still enjoy it?!!
I am about 80% through now and I've been really enjoying it. The Fight interface gets a little tedious (on PC) and the game is not that hard If you have played turn-based games before (also Braum is utterly broken and trivializes most fights), but Overall both gameplay and Story and especially the Champions are really great
Played on hard mode, was hard if i picked random champs. But I just lined up Braum Stamina Perma Taunting and Illaoi Heal Plus the Damage Dealer they force you to pick in your team, it was very easy
will you make a separate video discussing the lore reveals in the ruined king ? and how could they probably connect the ruined king game and the sentinels of light ? there is a huge lore gap between them, like how would the ruined king - spoiler noises -
Airship syndicate leader and founder is Joe Madureira which is a renown comic book writer , he loves rpgs and this isn't their first game , this alone can explain why the writhing and story are so good in Ruined King game.
I don't agree that Yasuo doesn't like Braum. At first, for sure, but during the game his attitude towards him warms up. I would say that this is the case of Shrek and Donkey, yes the Donkey irritates the ogre, but in the end this one would jump for the fire after him
My only critic to ruined king, beside the lore tangle that SoL brought us, is the fact that we dont have the option to refight certain bosses. They should include that upon completetion that you could fight well certain bosses (not naming any) just for the fun of it or with the progress you had in that time without saving before every bossfight on a own data slot
I usually like turned based combat, especially in games like divinity or xcom. The problem I have with ruined king is the lane system, I dislike waiting for abilities to be cast, for me it makes combat feel more clunky. I also HATE that you can only use 3 characters at the same time. I feel like most of the time I need to have a tank, a healer and a dps, which is braum + illaoi + X if I remember correctly. Also I love league characters and love having a big party in these types of games. This is all subjective ofc, it's not a bad game, but for these reasons I just stopped playing soon after finding Ahri.
u need braum illaoi or ahri (one of these) on higher difficulties but the lane system was fine to me and i come from same background as you. It just takes some paying attention and getting used to
Depends really. Illaoi is healer tank, so you can go with just her and have two dps. If you ditch Illaoi, you are gonna have to pick up Braum and either Illaoi (even though you wanted to get rid of her) or Ahri and then a dps. otherwise, you are gonna have a hard time keeping up with the damage you take. If you're a madman, you can go 2 dps and Ahri, and if you want to actually die, 3dps, balls to the walls.
the review is actually perfect you spoke about everything that I wanted hear information about ur really good at this maybe you should review games more often
I come from party rpg/turn based rpg background on top of obviously moba but i don't play LoL any more cus the game is flawed, however i played this game with excitement and liked it as it is in my ballpark and im already familiar with the universe and Ahri is a top tier waifu. The game is easy if you're good at party building tho. I didn't mind the lane system, it was new/fresh and it had positives
I would love to see airship syndicate take a shot at a sentinels of light game/series of games, making something officially cannon for it on this level of story telling and character development
Ahri AOE vampiric nuke was probably my favorite playstyle I've created. It makes her heal her entire healthbar when she last hits, building her with Braum who I've built for massive shields makes her extremely broken.
Finally a great and enthusiastic review of the game! I was kind of confused that some people gave it a bad review because I enjoyed it way more than I expected. I thought the turn based part wouldn't really be something for me and I would just buy it because I like LoL and I wanted to play a LoL story. Turned out that I love both! Can't wait for the story video about the game
2nd try to convince myself. It was actually work for me this time, trying different play style is fun and hilarious at sometimes. I never been interested to braum in league but in this game he's a chad. Also this is my first turned based games btw.
I love the game. The story, the characters, the music, the lore are amazing. The only problem I have with the game is that it is to easy for me, even on the hardest difficulty.
It truly was the first League of Legends game to make me not want to kill myself. The worldbuilding of Runeterra is by far the most interesting aspect of the IP so I'm glad that Riot finally made an RPG. Hopefully that MMO gives us more of this.
The music of this game... Just mindblowing!! My favourite song it's The Haunted Clario Mansion. I'm a sucker for strings and this theme nails the melancholic feeling of the environment.
I beat the game on veteran difficulty and I think it’s a good game indeed. It’s fun to build yourself the best party to destroy your opponents. Illaoi is a jack-of-all-trade in your party. She can do decent damage, heal and cleanse the party, and taunt your enemies. Braum is the big man with the hands. He shields your team, taunts the little ones, applies stun so your team have the advantage. Yasuo is a full-on damage dealer. Focus on getting him crits stat and watch him absolutely decimate mobs and bosses alike. Aside from doing damage, Miss Fortune can buff your team and herself by helping them get their turns more often. Pyke plagues your enemies with tons of debuffs. Like, so many debuffs you almost feel bad for the enemies interrupting your adventure. Ahri is the premier healer and magic damage dealer. Many enemies have heavy damage attacks but Ahri can effectively heal your party to full health in a few turns, no more fear of running out of potions! The scenery is beautiful, the game portrays a good image of the bad Bilgewater. Lore can be collected everywhere. A worthwhile game to pick up and play. Minor end-game spoilers about Braum and Yasuo though: - Yasuo actually want to accompany Braum back to Frejord, personally get on the boat to make sure he goes back. Yasuo may not like Braum booming personality but he definitely respects him as a warrior.
If Illaoi doesn't fall in love for Braum, I don't know what makes sense anymore. And before anyone tries to argue with me, just remember that Braum wishes to be a Poro Sheppard, which is basically working for the TRUE alpha species of Runeterra. If that isn't being worty for you, I don't know what it is...
Yep, the audio was outstanding. After i finished the game i began whistling some songs and I was like: what the hell do i even whistle? Well, it was the battle music from the Ruined King xd amazing
I pretty much agree with everything you said but I still want to know what happened between the end of the game and the start of the Sentinels of Light, like how did Viego escape etc.
Miss fortune was tempted by viego into becoming more powerful to gain control of the city but viego escaped and the miss fortune became "ruined" pyke then wrote viego's name on the list because he knew his Jobe was not done yet!
@@Unknown-vv2ju Well that doesnt really make sense timline wise. The Sentinel Of Lights event started with the Ruination cinematic with Senna und Lucian, where they met Viego for the first time, then came the event itself which started in Demacia where Viego and the black mist were already present. Bilgewater on the other hand was on of the last two regions in the event timeline wise and Miss Fortune wasn't ruined right from the start. She first became ruined after the sentinels arrived, plus she didn't even recognize Viego to begin with. And yes I know the event came out way before the game but that still doesn't explain how Viego escaped.
Great video and review! I agree with everything what you said. Despite the bugs I still very enjoyed this game. The game did an amazing job, I was so immersed on the lore and the world of Runeterra! Can't explain how excited I am for the other games, kudos for Riot Forge and Airship Syndicate for making this wonderful game.
I dont like turned based RPGs so I had many doubts on whether this game is worth for me but I bought it otherwise. At the start the gameplay bore me but the story and the immersiveness of the game kept me playing. Then after a few combat encounters it grew on me and I got the hang of it. I now like the combat especially the animations during those encounters. Ruined King is my first turned based RPG and I cant wait for more League stories to be incorporated in this type of genre.
Kinda wish this game were released before or at least during the SoL event, which would definitely make a lot of us feel less disappointed by the event.
this is a very good and honest revieuw more people should do it more like you necrit but i got one question. How long thit you do to get to story, how much time thit you play this game? that is the only thing holding me back what whas your timesinck in this game. that's the only question i have keep up the good work because your story telling keeps me going when i am making my homework. honestly if you get in to audiobooks you would make a great story teller for those things. can't wait what you have in store for us next necrit.
For me, I really want a game in demacia. I want a story progression on the mage rebellion, what happened to Lux between her comics and the Warriors Cinematic, and what happens after she revealed herself to be a mage. Maybe add the Noxus and Demacian conflict post Garen Novel. I want to see garen and katarina finally met in canon! So yeah, I'd like to see more of demacia.
the fun part about the lane system is, if ur not interested in getting ur hands dirty and being invested in the challenge of the game itself, you can pretty much breeze through it pretty easily, especially later on (and after doing pretty much all the side quests) since, with the proper set up ur pretty much untouchable, at least in the normal difficulty, unless ive subconsciously been adapting all my moves which may also be the case, but i didn't actl utilize the inspect mode as much as i thought i would but all of that can probably be fixed if you set a harder difficulty, but personally i want to see where the story goes most of all, as well as experimenting champion combinations and builds *cough crit braum cough* edit: i clearly spoke too soon
my favorite way of dealing with the bunch of encounters is to lure a bunch in the same room together so they can link up and we can just have a nice long fight, so i can roam around to loot freely, the bonus is the overload carries over after each round, so i can cast a bunch more times, this also cuts the time since there arent any in between scenes
So about Pyke customizations...I learned real quick, his debuff and stealth/crit build can easily be combined for easy single target damage in all situations
