Dennis and Julie start with the anti-Israel protests at Columbia University. The damage that university professors have done to the country over the last eighty years is incalculable. When moral confusion is accepted in one category it spreads to other categories. Parents… what makes you think your child won’t be affected by this if you send your children to university? Dennis reflects on his trip to South Africa. They discuss Jewry in the United States versus Jewry around the world. People become cynical because they started out naïve. Learning how to say “thank you” in as many languages possible has served Dennis well. It is a beautiful thing that there are many cultures in the world… it is not a beautiful thing that there are many moralities in the world. Julie shares her experience on the subway in NYC.

Don't know which was more dangerous, Dennis' trip to South Africa or Julie's venture to NYC? Just glad that you both are safe and sound. We love and treasure you both.

The one question I wish I could ask these young women protesting on college campuses is how they can reconcile their hatred of Israel with fact that Tel Aviv hosts one of the biggest gay pride parades in world every year? How can they reconcile their progressive views regarding feminist positions with the brutality of the treatment of women in the Middle East? How can they reconcile that Gazan women often seek treatment in Israel after they have been raped, and that’s only if they are not beaten/killed before they are able to receive that treatment? How they reconcile the cognitive dissonance that allows them to support a group like Hamas, that has broadcasted the murder of one of its members when it was discovered he had laid with another man? How can they reconcile these things within their minds? I will never understand it.

Answer: they cannot reconcile the cognitive dissonance because ... they are stupid.

Julie, that is horrifying!! Keep safe & stay away from the subway!! The hairs are standing on end listening to you describing your trips, so scary!! I haven't traveled on the subway in Sydney for several years now but I have been following the vlogs of a local guy who is a train fanatic & he has been giving us all the info on the update of the Sydney rail system & they are spending millions on new tracks to expand the network & updating old stations & they look so fresh, wider passages, well lit & safe, I couldn't recognize Central Railway where I used to catch the train to & from the city, I am only sorry that I no longer have the ability to travel or I would be doing the rail links again as I used to do when I was younger. I also traveled London's underground system in 1987 when visiting England & was amazed at how safe I felt even traveling back to our motel from the theatre at 11pm. Everyone was happy & friendly, whereas I didn't feel that safe in Sydney back then; though that changed the next year as we celebrated our 200th anniversary & everybody was in party mode!! Also in 2000, when we had the Olympic games come to Sydney.

Another simple example to "Why the Jews need a State" is that all the other countries in the region were born in the exact same time frame after WWII, so whatever "illegality" or "illegitimacy" claim hurled upon Israel would be in theory hurled upon Syria or Jordan or Lebanon ... but those countries are never in question. This speaks volumes on the conflict, and the one posing the question

I was very curious to hear Dennis's opinion on the "Huge group of Orthodox Jews" chanting for the eradication of Israel. Sadly he steered away from that. I hope their sentiments weren't the same for America.

Jews in America, Dennis, the answer to your question. Is the same as for everything else. Indoctrination, many years ago I attended S.A.R (Salanter Akiba Riverdale Academy). It comes from the parents to the teachers and ultimately to the students. After 6 years of Hebrew school, I went to a public school. This was 30 years ago or so, at that time Indoctrination wasn't as prevalent in public schools as it is today. I say this with confidence as I see it in my own children who attend public schools. The solution isn't a hard one but will probably never happen in America. Let the kids do what they do in Israel. That is military service. Once the children see the rest of the world it brings patriotism as well as an idea of what else is out there as a comparison. Until then, the privileged kids just don't understand.

thank the Lord that we don't have the same type of school system as you do in the US. We go to primary school, then onto high school, then if you want to go into teaching, medical or other profession then you go onto University or else you can go to work & go through TAFE to gain a certificate in plumbing, electrical & building, or office work. No big deal!! We just encourage our kids to become what they want to be as adults. I put my daughter through a typing college where she spent 3 months or so learning to type & do office work & then found a job. In her early 30s she decided that she wanted to become a teacher & so went through university on line in her spare time whilst working & over six years became a teacher & now teaches & enjoys her new career & works more hours for less money!!

Very religious Jew here: the question of why do Jews need a state, is different from why does any other nation need a state, because no other nation has retained its nationality despite being stateless for even 10 years, forget 2000 years. If Jews have managed without a state for nearly two millenia, why can't they continue managing without one? The answer is, we haven't been managing we've been kicked around for two thousand years, that's why we need a state.
