The cable it comes with has a ring terminal on one end so you can't daisy chain them without going out of the way to make (or find) a cable with amphenol at each end. Also to be clear, I don't think daisy-chaining is "unsafe" just that the busbar method is much better.

- No charge current limiter on the BMS - No circuit breaker / disconnecting means other than the BMS - Permanently assembled so no possible field serviceability - 7 year warranty vs 10 year most others offer - warranty is invalid if you don't connect CAN communication cables - warranty is invalid if you open the case - warranty is invalid if the manufacturer determines the battery is at the end of its usable life, however, they don't define what the usable life actually is - No USA-based support (phone number is in China) - No built-in monitoring to see %SOC, so you need to buy an external shunt

Love how current connected complains about this battery, but sells a "low end" SOK for more money, no communication, no UL listing, same warranty etc. Come on, bashing another maker because they are competing with you is so unprofessional. When Lithium Solar says this might be the best built battery, maybe you should improve yours before complaining about someone else. @rob8823 Год назад
I like the internals on the eg4 better. The discharge resistor looks like it is purpose built compared to the 4 slapped on the board here, items are spread out, physical breaker (quality seems ? but can be replaced)... Price recently was 13 or 1400 with good multi battery/rack discounts and 200 dollar shipping. Also a fire suppression pack on top of the packs rather than a simple insulation layer. All these UL approvals seem questionable and it looks like a complicated subject. I don't see a ul sticker on any of these things... That being said, UL listed breakers have burnt down a lot of houses so it's all on you in the end anyway.
@LithiumSolar
@LithiumSolar Год назад
The EG4 batteries are very good as well, nothing bad to say about those. I have one of the LifePower4 and love it. The battery I have here was shipped out before testing was completed, so there is no ETL sticker on it. I don't know if they'll be adding them to those that ship in June or not. Also agree the UL topic is rather complicated especially as someone else asked earlier, some areas are requiring things be listed as a complete ESS UL9540. I'm not an expert on the matter.

Does that actually shut off the charging current from going into the battery or does it reduce the current to a very tiny safe current? Couldn't tell if it was your clamp meter just being a little off with the zeroing or if it does indeed drop the current to a safe level for low temp charging.
@LithiumSolar

@rob8823
@rob8823 Год назад
I think the welded bus bars could be cut out and one of the main fire dangers is those connections loosening.. It may also keep your cells from failing due to a poor connection. Yes, it's a hit in serviceability. But it makes a lot of sense, especially coming from a business with liability and DIY customers that open their stuff up and poke around. Besides that.. imagine being the factory worker that torques a billion bolts in a week... You think they might miss a few?
@herbertvonsauerkrautunterh2513
Yeah i get it. It's a retail product. I suppose i look at everything from my point of view as someone that has an aptitude and willingness to DIY.. everything... I haven't taken a car to a mechanic since 1996😀.. I think bus bars coming loose in a battery that's installed in a house or shed is not an issue. Mobile applications with vibration could be. It's just a case of, if a cell becomes U/S then the battery is useless without costly repair. That too me if anathema 😛..

I know most companies can only do 4U, such as SOK. Ruixu batteries use GFB 100Ah LFP cells too, but ruixu cell model is different from SOK. The main difference between the two models is the pole structure. The SOK cell pole is designed with screw holes, but the ruixu pole is not, so the SOK cell is 11mm higher than the ruixu pole. SOK 100Ah cell can use nickel-plated copper strips and screws to pack, Ruixu 100Ah cell uses lasers to weld aluminum blocks. laser welding connection is much more solid and reliable, at the same, the height of the whole battery pack can be shorter. The choice of different cells is due to different design tendencies.

I will stick with LG. Based on the 5 KWH price of $1449 this would be $4347 for 15 KWH which is just too expensive for a no-name / unproven CHINESE Brand.

China owns 99% of the portable Lithium chemistry market. There is no avoiding ~~ CHINESE ~~ no matter how hard you try.

Why would anyone buy this battery when the major brands are twice the capacity for the same price.

What "major brands" are you talking about that have 48V 200Ah rack batteries? Yet alone at the same price??
