I watched this an when she jumped off the stage I said to myself " how can she jump off a stage with heels on but I can't manage to stand with them on?"😂
The Troubletones were elegant, sophisticated, fierce, powerful, and mature with their performances, they put much emotion than any other ND performance in a competition. They could have been even better than Season 1 Vocal Adrenaline.
This was the only emotional performance the rest weren’t as impactful Say what you want about ND but they were better which is why they won and allowed them to sing
@@shataysianelson9414 they won cause the writers wrote that ridiculous storyline. But in the real world, they honestly should have come in 3rd. New Directions was good, but that set list and performance was weak af.
In a sad way, Naya and Heather's friendship became the most beautiful and strong love that came from glee. Fiction apart, ships apart, TV show apart, seeing Heather so desperate, wanting to help the police, holding hands with her family today... That is a touching love. I'm glad that someone as remarkable and amazing as Naya got to have the kind of friend she deserved
I know she was so scared but no one should ever be outed until they are ready in tv and real life so fuck the people who out someone just because of whatever
Libby Allen if i remember correctly he REFUSED to do anything when the glee guys were gonna confront karofsky because he wanted to stay on the football team- which makes it way worse
Curly Q she honestly didn’t get enough credit. I wish she wouldn’t of burned her bridges with Ryan Murphy because I could definitely see her bringing it on one of his other shows.
Tbh this school is effed up because all these fights happened and the glee club getting slushied EVERDAY and the school is like "whatever" but Santana slaps Finn ONCE and their like "SUSPENDED" what type of logic is that
Santana actually pointed that out. "Is that why you've suspended the kids who have been throwing slushies in our face for the past three years?" And Figgins is like, it's not on the list of suspend-worthy weapons.
Aki_04 I Really Wished There Is A Season 8 Focusing On Politics Based On The School System and The People In General In William McKinley High School you know named after 25th President Of The U.S. and Around AMERICA based on a decision To shut down The HS
Gia Atzin not to mention how many times the characters got in legit brawls with one another. Like, Finn, Puck, Sam, Karofsky, Santana, Lauren, Quinn, all got into very public fights with one another yet didn’t get much more than a walk it off from the teachers (and it’s their job to report those incidents). If those were let go or not reported to Figgins, why was this slap reported?
That's actually kind of dangerous to include a slap that the person doesn't know about. If I didn't know a slap was coming and it wasn't in the script or notes or a memo or something, I would've turned around and slapped her ass back. It wouldn't be a big deal if I knew it was going to happen before hand though.
Kenzie And Friends That Was the good thing about glee, when every song meant something. Later, I stopped finding the meaning on performances. What a shame...
S.Timmz She was confused because of her feelings fr Brittany and she was sad/angry/desperate because Finn told her to come out in front of some students and then it came out as a campaign ad and all that stuff..
The sadness in Santana’s eyes was so heartbreaking I understand Finn was angry and she is mean a lot but that didn’t give him a right to out her she is generally upset, that slap wasn’t just about him talking to Rachel it was also the slap for outing her. The confusion in Santana’s eyes when she looks at Brittany this is heartbreaking this performance
Honestly, Finn was the worst character in the show! He was so ugly didn’t have a singing voice and no dance moves whatsoever. His actor died because of Crack cocaine and his character probably did too. Good riddance!!
xander Gibson although I do see your point (and trust me I agree with you 100%) I still feel like Finn was just an ass for absolutely no reason. I feel like he just expected everything to be handed to him.
To this day this is my favourite perfomance of Naya. It was so powerfull and full of emotions and you could breath the determination and grit of Santana and Naya.
I still listen to her renditions or Rumor has it, Valerie, Smooth criminal and Edge of glory. Rest In Peace Naya❤️ You will always be loved and remembered by me.
turl say if u were gay and which you maybe or not but would u like being outed and being outed is something that can determine your whole life she could not even tell people herself it was a commercial
Her piece of "Someone like You" in this performance wonderfully captured the experience of being young, unsure, and afraid of where you're yearning to connect. It honestly never left me. Rest in Peace beautiful Naya!!
I came here after the news of Naya. God, this performance by far is her best. Not only voice but the looks with Brit, the pain she had. Everything. I’m so freaking sad.
I kinda hated Finn during this whole thing. He outed Santana and then overcompensated by arranging a whole week of performances to encourage her to come out and be herself?! No, that's not how you drive the ''be yourself'' message. I didn't like how this was handled by the writers. I feel like this was one of the show's biggest limitations. Even when the intentions were probably in the right place, they ended up mocking or doing a disservice to the same marginalized communities that they set out to champion. Also, this has to be one of my favourite Glee performances. Naya Rivera is SO good here. Mercedes and Santana were some of the most underappreciated members of the group.
I completely agree. And the biggest issue wasn’t even the fact that Finn outed her (since that is a relatable experience to many LGBTQ+ people around the world), but the fact that Finn never grasped that (or why) he was in the wrong, and he never apologized. He just kept trying to justify his actions, claiming he was doing her a ”favor” by ”helping” her come out, and that it ”didn’t matter” anyway because ”everyone already knew”. And then he forced her to sit through that ridiculous ”Lady Music Week”, once again taking away her own voice. If someone else had stood up for Santana and forced Finn to understand why what he did was wrong and to apologize, then this storyline would have been much better. I mean, it’s great that Finn is supportive of Santana’s sexuality, but he must still realize that not everyone is going to be supportive, and that even though it wasn’t a big deal to him, it WAS a big deal to Santana.
So... Finn and Puck have a fistfight, Jessie and Finn start fighting at prom, Lauren grabs Santana by the hair and slams her into a locker, glee clubers are hit in the face with slushes and pushed into lockers, and basically nothing happens, but Santana slaps Finn once and everyone loses their shit? She shouldn't have been threatened to get suspended.
Ik, that bugged me, it's like, Finn didn't get suspended when he repeatedly sucker punched Puck in the face, why? Because he got cheated on and his girl was pregnant (no, what Quinn did was bs but doesn't mean he can beat Puck and not get suspended). Well guess what, I'd rather be cheated on then fucking outed in a severely homophobic part of the world.
This performance and the character Santana did so much for me. The whole storyline with how Santana dealt with her sexuality and being outed was so important for many viewers and the time when it aired. Thank you Naya. I hope you are found alive and can be brought hope ❤️❤️❤️❤️
The look Santana gives Brittany through this whole performance is heartbreaking. I believe that she is worried that she’ll loose Brittany to someone else if she doesn’t accept herself and that makes this performance all that more powerful.
0:29 it kinda warms my heart how Mercedes looks at Santana there, I don't think she knows what happens but she's sad for her, I ship their friendship so much since the performance of "The boy is mine"
This mashup ended up becoming my definitive version of the songs bc of those voices. I love the originals but damn if I’m not disappointed sometimes when it doesn’t transition. I’m sad we never got to see Naya’s second career wind bc she was so immensely talented (killer voice and comedic timing) but at least she was happy raising her kiddo.
Ever since I saw this episode and heard them mash up these two songs of Adele's, I can't hear Adele's version WITHOUT singing this mash-up!....Adele's "Rumor has" falls flat without "..don't forget me! I beg.."..lol
Okay but kurt was literally thrown in the dumpster everyday and people got in fist fights all the time, are we forgetting santana and quinn were literally slamming each other’s faces in to lockers by their hair, but santana slaps finn once because he ripped her out of the closet and everyone loses their shit
@@ikeunsell7486 Yeah i think OP was pointing out the double standard that Santana was threatened by Mr Schue with suspension over a slap when there's been much worse acts of abuse and violence at that school
we will not forget you Naya, still pray that u come back safety and healthy, please don't stop spread information that can help and peaceful message about her. 🙏
the way santana and brittany keep looking at eachother for support you can see the fear in there eyes. this is probably the best scene. finn deserved that being outed hurts so bad. RIP naya💕
Remember when Santana was not all out and proud and Finn did the stupidity of pushing her out, and she was all lost and scared, trying to find a meaning on this mashup and when she felt the need to share something so important with her grandma and the stupid old woman did what she did... I felt so bad for her. Like, she was struggling inside her entire life, and then all of this happened...
Emília Carvalho remember how Finn just got a free pass from everyone for outing her like that? I thought it was stupid that no one called him on that. He's always had an incredible sense of entitlement like it was somehow his right to decide when Santana should come out.
candleblaise I think I'm not getting your point. It was his right to out her? To decide for her? No. It doesn't matter if he was the leader. No one has that right. Not Finn, not Schue, not even Brittany or Santana's parents. I don't know if you have experienced that kind of situation yourself but coming out is not easy. It's confusing, complicated, sometimes it leads to depression or worse. And clearly it disturbed Santana. No one has that kind of right or power over others. People should come out when ready and sure about it. Force someone to do it, even when everyone already "knows" has serious consequences. Idk if that's what you meant, but if it was, you're actually wrong.
Emília Carvalho my comment was pointing out how wrong it was for Finn to do that to her and how someone should have called out his behavior and held him accountable.
Santana and Mercedes = great duo Santana and Sebastian = great duo Santana and Rachel = great duo Santana and Shelby = great duo Santana and Brittany = unstoppable Santana and Santana = legendary RIP Santana( naya) A hero
The original "Rumor Has It" came on by Adele and I just randomly started belting out "DON'T FORGET ME, I BEG" and one of my homegirls was like "that's the wrong song" lol I just shook my head and mumbled "peasant"
1:42 Don't forget her, such a blessed soul, she sacrificed herself for her son, a mom, a human being, a legend, and legends never die. R.I.P. Naya Rivera 🖤
Out of all the glee performances this was in my top 5. It went so well with Santana's situation with the commercial and the mashup went so well together! I think this even caught the attention of Adele
this was one of the greatest performances on the show, the troubletones deserved so much better tbh, merdeces' and santana's voices together were ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.
The only mashup in the entire series that was done to great effect. Kudos to the arranger who put it together. It's like Adele's entire career before Hello.
All adele covers in glee are amazing, and this is one of my favorites. I've watched it so many times! And santana kept looking and brittany...:( they're the perfect couple.
The episode after this was another example of Mr Schu being a terrible teacher. He watched Finn punch Puck and kick a garbage can across the room and that was fine but Santana slaps Finn and he needs to run to Figgins and threaten her with suspension. I don't know why he wasn't called out on the blatant favoritism, he did it all the time. Like when he kicked Santana out of glee club because Quinn threw a cigarette on the piano and it caught fire. That made a lot of sense. He was such an ass most of the time. Also, they really dropped the ball when it came to Finn being held accountable in any way for forcibly outing Santana. For all anyone knew she could have had extremely religious parents that disowned her and/or kicked her out. It happens to gay teens all the time. Ryan Murphy really should have touched on that. Finn's (step)brother is gay and his gf is the child of gay parents, one of them should have talked with him about why it's wrong/dangerous to out someone like that.
candleblaise I'm pretty sure Finn didn't actually hit puck, he leaned backwards at the last second and dodged it. Also Santana was pushing Finn with constant bullying, tbh she needed to be taught a lesson, yes Finn could've said something else but she pushed him to a point where he wanted to get back at her as hard as he could. It was her fault imo.
Nick Dwyer forcibly outing someone is extremely dangerous, especially in a red state, but what's possibly worse was what came after. When Schu decided he and Finn get to decide how Santana should handle being forcibly outed. It wasn't for him to decide how she processed/handled the situation. Not only was the decision of when and how to come out to her parents taken from her but her choice in how she handled the aftermath was taken from her as well when Schu decided to threaten her that if she didn't handle it the way he wanted her to he'd suspend her. It was an abuse of power. As I said the show's writers really missed an opportunity to discuss just how dangerous it is to out someone. They could have touched on how high the suicide rate is for LGBT teens, they could have mentioned high profile cases of people killing themselves because they were outed against their will. What about when Schu kicked Santana out of the club because Quinn threw a cigarette on the piano and set it on fire? He was an awful teacher that often let his personal issues color his treatment of his students and always showed blatant favoritism. Let's not even talk about him planting drugs on a student or when he had his students twerking through the school.
Nick Dwyer also, I just looked the scene up. Not only did Finn hit Puck, he straddled him on the ground and repeatedly punched his face until Schu ran in and physically pulled him off Puck. No punishment and Finn was out there performing with the group later that day. He should have faced criminal charges. Just like when Finn punched Jesse at the prom, he was completely in the wrong and once again he was the one that got violent and again faced no repercussions.
candleblaise candleblaise firstly about the Finn and puck scene, I must've been thinking of something else, my bad. But about the other stuff, I was outed by a friend on accident, and tbh yeah it sucked at first but I realised that it was for the best. Also she constantly bullied Finn about his weight which he was self conscious about, at some point he was gonna push back, with the only thing he had over her. Also when he said it in the hall way she didn't burst out crying, it was when the pizza dude outed her. And the show did a lot for the LGBT, don't get all annoyed because they couldn't touch on everything, they showed the risk of suicide in lgbts with karofsky. Now I'm not getting into problems with mr shue because honestly I couldn't care less, but as shue said, Santana wasn't as committed to the group as the others, plus she was a total bitch so she kinda deserved it.
Nick Dwyer it was the blasé attitude after that got me. "It no big deal" "nobody cares" idk how it is where you're from but in America, some people do care, a lot. It can be very dangerous in some places. It may have been for the best for you but your experience isn't everyone's experience and thousands of teens get sent to conversion camps or are homeless because their parents found out. I get that anyone can be pushed too far, to me it was really the aftermath that was the fucked up part. Santana's dedication to the club varied episode to episode but so did other glee kid's dedication at times. The show had a consistency problem and character development rarely lasted longer than an episode or two. Her bitchery WAS completely uncalled for most times though, I completely agree with that.
This is my absolute number one all time favorite Glee performance. The combo, the voices, everything. Perfection! Please come back to us safe, Naya!! :(
Rewatching all Naya’s old performances because of the news. This was always my favorite. RIP Naya! Bless your soul! Your performance on glee were such an important representation to a lot of people in the LGBTQ community 🌈
This is hands down my favorite performance of Naya's. There is just something about it that is so special I have to keep watching it every couple of days.
